So who went to playgroup and didn't say! That's odd.

Lol at shoe nobber.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:32

Oh. A bit like moldies then. That made the national press.

This sounds hilariously parochial

Clarabumps · 17/08/2012 13:32

Mignonette I think you may have perhaps made your point

Yes I know, I linked to the T by AW jacket I just bought from the ON for £80 upthread, but then I have quite a large disposable income. Not everybody does. Take a look around the S&B boards, some people think £24 of an MJ scarf is silly money, when all they can afford is a 3 quid McQueen knock off from Primark.

And they buy it because they love those McQueen skull scarves that all the celebs wear, but they just don't have £165 for a scarf, or even £82 in the Selfridges sale, where they have to fight though the crowds of girls who have flown over from China especially (which is where I got one of mine). In fact, they don't really need the scarf, maybe they should put it back, put that £3 in the rainy day fund. But, no, sod it. They deserve a treat. So they wear it, because they love those McQueen skulls. And good luck to them. If Sarah Burton has a problem with Primark ripping off their designs, then there are lawsuits to be had, but it's not for us to sneer at the people who buy them, because they love fashion.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:34

Sobs. ?but we shared links to over priced leather trousers *

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:35

Yes MiM I thought the hamster jibe was particularly low.

Never mind, do you know what, we are all friends and W&A will continue somehow. There will still be MUs and SS. Fuck the haterzzz.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:36

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:39

Low jokes about hamsters ?
Yes.

noddyholder · 17/08/2012 13:39

Buying top end things on ebay eliminates the need to buy primark and cheapy stuff.

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:40

'Oh bloss sorry to hear about your hamster'

No, alaska, she didn't lose a hamster. Now do one.

NanAstley · 17/08/2012 13:43

Alaska, you have no idea how hurtful you are being. Please just leave.

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:46

It never ceases to amaze me what cocks people can be. I may not agree with mignonette, but she has a reasoned argument which she believes in and is engaging in decent debate.

Those who have just come to laugh at out thread gone awry, I cannot understand.

DonaAna · 17/08/2012 13:46

Could we please establish some ground rules?
Be nice? Be kind? Be supportive?
And wasn't Rule #1 No judging?
If you would to like to rant or fight, could you please start a new thread for that? Pretty please?
That's all,

Welcome all fashion talkers, old and new. I'm also interested in hearing how your day was, what you are doing because Vogue writing is quite boring and we can do much better. Just like the old W & A thread? But without the drama? Please?

Fritzi, the Lanvin here.
Will probably wear the DvF and save the Lanvin for another time.

Was going to say something else but am too confused by this thread Confused

AntPants1 · 17/08/2012 13:48

Three years ago my DS was still born

Two years ago I gave birth to my longed for third child

With everything that happend to me over the last few years and being either pregnant or trying to get pregnant or breast feeding I had stopped paying attention to my appearance.

I started lurking and then posting on this thred about 18 months ago. What I found was support and friendship. Yes we chat about clothes (and this thred really did help me get my mojo back on that front) but it has become so much more to so many of us.

By opening up about something so painful and personal I am not looking for sympathy. I just want people to understand that behind the posts about clothes everyone on this thred was a real woman with their own back story and we were all drawing support from each other. I have never posted on the gladiator's arena that is AIBU etc as I am not into confrontation. However I have posted religiously on this thred for the last 18 months as for me this was a safe place.

I feel now like something innocent and kind has been trampled all over.

I don't think I will be posting for a while. So thank you to those of you who have enjoyed ripping this thred apart over the last few days. Good work.

MidnightinMoscow · 17/08/2012 13:48

Sorry Dona - but some of us, are rather hurt by all of this and it goes a little deeper than just 'words on a screen'. It's not quiet as easy as linking to some Lavin and ignoring.

I don't think there is anyway back to what W&A used to be.

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:49

I love that DVF dona. I liked it in store but all the wrong colours for me.

NanAstley · 17/08/2012 13:50

Abs I am quite taken by the idea of quirky Fridays! It would make office a little bit less boring (and give me an excuse to buy some extravagant shoes)

Not on MN maybe, MIM but I think W&A can still exist in a different arena. To be honest, it smacks of jealousy a little bit. I mean if a harmless thread is going on that is not bothering you, then why delight in its downfall?

NanAstley · 17/08/2012 13:54

Insensitive x-post by me Blush

Ants my ds was still born 3 years ago too. That was when I found the w&a thread and started posting on it, and it helped me find myself again. I stopped posting when we were going through a tough financial time as I didn't want to drag the thread down.

I am sorry it has come to this. There are some weird people out there.

MrsRyanLochte · 17/08/2012 13:56

I lurked on the W&A thread for a long time. Loved all the links, really transformed my approach to shopping/style. And yes it was really bloody lovely to see women being so supportive of each other and writing with such eloquence and humour. And all the non-style stuff, which alaska was so derisive of, was what made the thread - it was nice to hear about holidays and especially Dona's life in Rome. I can't believe people are coming on here to mock the end of the thread, such a shame and a real loss to S+B.

Rant over.

Back to all things style-related, I just stumbled upon this blog which I really like. She's on pinterest too.

alwaysrunninginheels · 17/08/2012 13:59

amber guess that's simple vindictiveness!!!! Am really sad and what's happened here. Have never understood why people would cause upset deliberately. All I can say is m glad I haven't met the people who have chosen to deliberately ruin a&w in real life.
