Portia, I agree with the others that the dress is good for you. You did say you wanted something burgundy.

Amber, I can imagine the jacket looking fab on you, great spot. I hate that The Outnet don't do free returns what with me being such a small fry and that. The terry towelling look wouldn't have been so good, although I once saw a chair in a bathroom in a magazine upholstered with electric blue towelling, it looked lush.

On a bus, wearing cobalt COS evil stepmother blouse, Roxannes, nude platform courts, my big cream Zatchel and the Rib&Hull coral organic bucket bag. Cream and cobalt really go along - one of the freshest color pairings in a long time. SOTD Chanel Antaeus (ahhh).

Marsha your launch sounds fab - will try to keep my privacy here but am constantly gushing about work because I love to be back after too many snot covered SAHM years...

Morning all. I know what you mean about returning to work dona. That was exactly how I felt this time last year.
Back from holiday and wearing the really flattering Boden seam detail trousers. They run big, and are perfect afer weeks of nougat and red wine, pains au chocolat etc etc. Got mine in navy.
Regarding Shopbop, it is true that you need to factor in taxes aswell, I pay it upfront. When I bought my gigis from Farfetch recently here, DHL wouldn't release them until I'd paid customs and duties over the phone. Added another £13 I think. Did I mention you can get them in hot pink too? Do love them, but will shut up about them now!
I was very interested in the perfume chat. I find perfumes difficult and can get a headache from walking through a department store's ground floor. The one I never tire of is Armani Elle, the one in the gold cylinder. Funny though, Anais Anais and Tresor are the smells of my university days. I wore Coco Chanel at that time though. Smelt it recently, but it didn't appeal!

Yy Dona. It is exciting, do feel happy. It's fab. I've had a three year break pretty much (pg and now ds2 is nearly 3) and it is so lovely to be getting back to it. I've done a few of these things, some where the work is on ads all around etc and it's funny, pretty much get looked at a lot. But I do love it (although like you keen on privacy).

Bloss lovely to see you, love the gigi's such a good colour.

Hello...was Dhs birthday so slightly fuzzy after champagne consumption. But lunch out today so wearing cobalt l/s tee with black skinnies, black jimmy choo ballets and mulberry lily.

Most s and b I've been this week, as still packing/sorting for storage...and will have stuff again to do later. We need new blinds/temporary rugs for rented house so a trip to good ole Ikea for now in order I feel.

Winter scents - I am a fan of Coco too. Most friends relate the scent as 'my' scent. I have been wearing Dyptique's Philosykos through the summer which I love, and DH just bought me a bottle so let's hope for an Indian summer.

My parents are very conservative with clothes; although I love to reminisce about my Mother's long evening dresses and fur coats when she went to parties, and my Father's velvet evening jackets. Mother always wore Chanel No 5.

Sorry to hear about your father Mignonette.

Oh and do want Penelope Chilvers green suede boots. Just beaut

What do everyone think of snoods? I see a few in the new season catalogues. I am quite taken with the Pure faux fur one and the me & em one.
Speaking of Me & Em, have just bought decam's martini dress in the sale. Sometimes it takes a holiday in a hot country for me to realise what is missing from my wardrobe. In fact I wish we'd gone earlier then there'd be more summer stuff around for me to get for next year when my memories are still fresh.
I have a blue linen dress with pleated neckline from Boden last year and I'm taking inspiration from hopefully and dona and thinking of dyeing it cobalt for next year. Colour has faded so it needs dyeing or throwing. Not taking anything white with me again. Such a stupid colour for a holiday! The slouchy Jigsaw tee was immediately ruined by suntan lotion and my white dress could only be worn once. The white denim pencil skirt may be reprieved however! I maintain that greys, navys and blacks look great with a suntan and chic too.
All in all, my holiday wardrobe was okay. I loved the gigis, the m by mj matching bag, all my violet lake, but will purchase different styles again in the aquamarine. Loved the toucan scarf by jago, and my sapphire vest by Kettlewell Grin.
Excited as my coated skinnies could arrive at the earliest today.
I am ashamed to say that I have bribed DS with a download if he plays with his sister for half an hour! It is working very well!

Like the sound of that Toucan scarf, Blossoming. Am sitting by an open door and the breeze swirling around my legs definitely carries within it, Autumn's chill. The garden is looking Autumnal too- the Hosta and Astilbe leaves are starting to yellow at the edges, always THE herald of Summer's end for me. So bring on the scarves.

Today I am wearing a medium charcoal pleated and folded Helmut Lang dress, a few years old, a tangerine wool/merino cardigan of no particular distinction and Carvella calfskin thong sandals in this weird pale chartreuse shade. Sounds a horrendous colour mix but it works. I'm going to have to swap shoes for work later though as a) too chilly and b) rubbish for driving. Will likely try out a pair of big 'ole boots, maybe my Fryes.

The colour mix needs Autumn updating too so may also swap tangerine cardigan for Goat burgundy cardigan at work.

Pickled - I had curtains made out of striped velvet finished terry towelling for my son's first bedroom. It was a cool north facing aspect and the curtains insulated so well. They looked fantastic and hung as though they were triple lined.

Bloss I knitted a cashmere snood last year and although I never wore it as a snood (over my head, I mean) I wore it as a scarf practically daily. Love it. May knot another colour one this year, maybe in a chunkier weight.

Hoe this link isn't too off topic but David Bowie, for me, will always be the coolest looking man in the World. Total style in everything he is, says, wears and does.....

How do you like your significant other to look?

Love DH's look - he's a man in a suit and loves tailoring. He's tall and dark and handsome but what I really love is his use of Spring colors (yummy yellow and watermelon red look so good on him). Can you tell I miss him? Wink

Bloss every teenager wears a snood around here and many of them look really good - particularly love the bright accent colors.

Hopefully I'm actually sad to leave Northern Europe - love the crisp cool autumnal vibe, dusty and hot 30+ temps in Rome do not appeal to me. But will adapt Grin

Mignonnette love Helmut Lang, so effortless...

Really enjoying the COS Evil Stepmother top - true power dressing! Am sure Mrs T would have loved it too...

My DH has curly jet black hair with silvering at temples now, green eyes. Is ex ballet dancer so retains the physique, has height and strength Grin.

He loves Helmut too and Margiela, wears the odd bit of Paul Smith, some APC and Zadig & Voltaire. Collects Liberty print shirts.

My favourite on him - an old faded, loose sweatshirt material 'grandad shirt' he wore for barre/floor made by Calvin Klein. When he pushes the sleeves up......Blush.

Dauphin great to see you! Love the outfit. I need to check out the Penelope Chivers boots, they sound good.

Bloss wow at that sale price. Good buy! I like the me&em snood a tiny bit more.

Lovely outfit Mignon. Love ballet and am impressed your dh is an ex ballet dancer. (I did it until I was 12, but boarding school stopped the nightly practice, but have a big soft spot for anything to do with ballet.)

I bet you do Dona. Style sounds great, your dh too mignon.

Dh is dark, olivey too and can wear strong or bright block colours well.

Oh and the Charles Philip Shanghai's have arrived and the packaging is divine. Magnetic clasp, beautiful wool lining in the shoe. But it doesn't have that 1 inch in built sole that Lanvin does at the back. I really think I need it to feel like I'm not tipping backwards.

Not been on for a while as the endless holidays have led to serious sibling quarrels and I've had to juggle working from home and serious peacekeeping duties. Have regularly skimmed your posts and felt inadequate and impecunious, though, so nothing new there.

Still not been in to work to collect my ancient, redirected Hush order, but am hoping to go tomorrow - it'll be nice to have a few new things before summer really ends. The mistral is blowing here, so it's chilly in the morning then gorgeously sunny and bright but not hot in the day. Perfect for me.

Wearing Wrap cropped boyfriend jeans and an old, much-loved, fits-me-perfectly red t-shirt and cream, no-laces Converse. Chosen for practical as well as other reasons, since we cycled to the CM's this morning to drop DS1 off and I have then just been working at my desk, apart from a foray to the Chinese restaurant for a special end-of-holidays lunch with DS1.

Sadly, though, DS2 only had a red t-shirt and blue shorts clean to wear today, and when foolishly I told DS1 that it'd be best not to wear a red top, he promptly pulled out a red t-shirt and long denim shorts so "we can be a clan." We now look utterly naff.

My husband has a full head of hair and it's grey city blonde.
He owns some red trousers which I laugh at but he likes them. Definitely not an ex ballet dancer though he did once row for his country and was definitely several stone lighter in those days Wink I wish he'd get fit again, I think he'd look and feel amazing.

agree bloss me&em sale is superb, some massive discounts and in my experience it's a good quality brand.

wave to all

Found a stunning ivory silk blouse at a consignment shop for next to nothing. Made also a not-so-wise purchase - a mink stole. I'm thinking of dressing up my black cocktail dresses (houses in Italy are freezing and won't do pashminas). Could also team it with a simple black or cream cashmere dress, black leather trousers or coated skinnies. Or not Grin

I have a 1950s vintage mink stole Dona - I feel amazing in it (if a little moulty).

Ooh great Carole - this is vintage too. It's just a rectangle of fur but felt so good on. How do you wear yours?

Got a delivery of roses from DH. Miss him...

I wish I had the chutzpah to just wear it with jeans and heels on a night out, but I save it for Big Dos.

Hmmm, white button-down and mink stole? Grin
Am leaving the stole here - winter starts earlier in the North.
The stole would also make a superb airline blanket...

Marsha were they synthetic? Or just too delicate?

I got a good discount code, so finally braved ordering the joseph leather leggings. Even with a hefty discount, they need to be beyond perfect to justify the price. Can't wait for them to arrive!

It was the combination of feeling like I was tipping backwards (no Lanvin in built inch at back) and dh's reaction that sealed it. I mean he's quite good and usually tells me to keep whatever so put me off even more.

The packaging is gorgeous, wool sole lovely, but still not sure if synthetic.

Love the Joseph leggings. Good work!

A quick message - taking a brief rest before leaving for the airport in a hour or two, Rome-bound.

Am just recovering from the monstrous task of packing. Have given up on suitcases (too much dead weight), pack everything in strong plastic sacks that have handles. Empty weight 0, sturdy enough and hold clothes beautifully. In my experience also some electronics (a hot kettle, an iron, my Kindle) survive the trip if packed inside everything else. This is possibly the first time in 5 years that I do not need to pack a stroller - DD2 is 2.5. I know both the departure and destination airports really well, down to knowing exactly where the playrooms and duty frees are located Grin. Keep fingers crossed for me this afternoon - flying alone with 2 under 5-year-olds is no picnic - they have had terrible tantrums in the past . I have a bag full of distractions and snacks plus usually resort to iPad and iPhone at some point... Sticker books are usually the best.

Yummy I already have two mink fur coats in my closet (it was -20 C and windy here last winter) still moth and fur mite free. My mother has taught me how to handle fur - exposing them to very light rain once a season keeps fur looking good and they should be taken to a cool fur storage facility in the spring. Vintage fur is a potential source for pests, but you can get rid of them by heat or freezing them. (Maybe I should just leave the freezer on now? Grin}

Fritzi I've been in a head-to-toe pseudo Chanel outfit in a toolshed like kiddie birthday setting that sounds like your mink stole / bowling alley mashup (the toolshed was inside a country club in Rome). All other parents wore fleeces, body warmers and sweatpants Grin Was mortified but just pretended I was on my way home from some very swish early afternoon party...

Going to wear on the plane a boring outfit of Roxanne skinnies, a white H&M vest (yes Amber one of those long 3.99 ones - they are the best under everything), MJ chambray shirt, cream Stylesnob ballerinas and cream Zatchel. If I flew alone, I'd wear a dress (sweater dresses are comfier than yoga pants), good shoes and one of my better bags, but will be in survival mode this afternoon...
