MGT sorry to hear your dad isn't well, but that is exactly the sort of thing my mum would do. Mine has convinced herself she gives off some sort of electrical impulse which means things won't work for her. Haven't the heart to point out she's just pressing the wrong buttons.

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 12:59

That would look nice on red.

Oh you're doing it already.
Bolding and bonding.

Boring.

Trills · 17/08/2012 13:02

Did something bad happen to wise&avid?

I just thought I'd lurk and look at the expensive clothes that people were looking at...

Trills · 17/08/2012 13:04

(and possibly laugh at the hideousness of things that people were charging £300 for)

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:04

Sigh.

NanAstley · 17/08/2012 13:05

Wow! This must be a new record on how fast a thread has attracted vitriol.

I can see the point that was being made in the previous thread very clearly now.

mignonette · 17/08/2012 13:05

The Internet, although claims of time poverty when we have the time to participate on MN......

The Outnet, MyTheresa, etc have fantastic sales and concentrating on classically designed staples such as well cut pants, tees and a shoe eliminates the problem of being 'en vogue'. Nothing is easier than their service. Beats sweaty over heated, smelly changing rooms which cannot be convenient for those of you with prams.

Cos for well cut what I'd call an edgy-classic, more-honest 'tribute' to Celine, The Kooples (sales) Maje, Jigsaw for basics especially on sale and Les Comptoirs Des Cotonniers and Sandro on sale or for higher priced basics which benefit from good fashion math cost per wear!

www.comptoirdescotonniers.co.uk/eng/home_EN.aspx

On line boutiques or independent high st boutiques with a good edit and usually happy to do lay away, releasing us from credit card debt (Anna is a reliable one).

The back pages of Vogue have a good online selection with a regional slant. Liberty (for Londoners) has a great sale and will do postal.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:05

It MOLDIES. Mark two. Love if.

hf128219 · 17/08/2012 13:06

If you don't like Horses don't come into the Stable.

AbsofAwesomeness · 17/08/2012 13:07

Ah, mywardrobe. Work used to give us discount on their clothes, but that no longer happens

[super sad face]

Cobalt blue is IN this year. Wicked, I love it

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2012 13:07

So that'd be all the places that historically the W&A thread links to every day.

Can someone come and tell mignonette why those shops might not work for those on a very low income? Because I'm losing the will to live a bit.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:08

Abs. Dish it.

AbsofAwesomeness · 17/08/2012 13:10

I am innocent Alaska. I have done nothing. I'm just joining in as I was afraid to before, and want to natter about clothes and link to stuff that's super pretty, and dream about buying it.

The shoes I am wearing today, true story

mignonette · 17/08/2012 13:12

Sales.....ebay (and I have bought fantastic unworn designer items for less than a New Look pair of jeans including Marni shoes for £8)......Using them as inspiration.....The fact that the less money you have to spend on an item, the more 'classic' and natural fibred it should be. Fact is, even those of us with little income have far more clothing than we know what to do with. And we all buy stuff we do not need.

Outnet......I have bought really great T's for £7, £12 by Marc Jacobs, DVF and Day Birger.....That is affordable for pretty much everyone.

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:12

Weirdo

mignonette · 17/08/2012 13:13

Oh and a McQ skirt for £17. Cheap as chips and classic so will never date.

AbsofAwesomeness · 17/08/2012 13:18

Jealous

AlaskaNebraska · 17/08/2012 13:20

Lol. Why are you ?

AbsofAwesomeness · 17/08/2012 13:22

The intern asked me to. We have "quirky Fridays" where you wear something odd. It's the intern's last day and she specially requested that I wear my fancy shoes

I feel like such a nobber to be honest. It's quite casual friday-y around here, and there's me poncing about in my gold sparkly shoes, going to the coffee machine, the photocopier etc.

On the plus side:

  • I'm much much taller than everyone else in the team
  • I WIN quirky friday this week IN YOUR FACE EVERYONE
mignonette · 17/08/2012 13:22

There are great bargains on the Outnet now. T by Alexander Wang tanks, DVF skirts, Penelope Chilvers espies, French Sole ballet flats, Marc Jacobs sunnies for £52. I bought 2 Marc Jacobs thick cotton jersey scarves for £24 each a few months ago. I bought my sister a pair of MJ sunglasses from TKMaxx for £20.

Acne goes for reasonable prices on Ebay. Many of the lesser known brands that I named in previous post do.
