You've been missed! Good to have you back

Hopefully · 30/08/2012 18:49

Nursing bras are just awful aren't they? And I got repeated mastitis both times despite avoiding underwires religiously second time round. Happy days Hmm

Hopefully · 30/08/2012 18:54

I have just filled my Hush basket with everything I liked without being remotely sensible, figuring I'd trim it down at the end. It is at £1,100. I think it may need an amputation, rather than just trimming Grin

AmberNectarine · 30/08/2012 19:01

here it is Marsha.

Blimey, hopefully did you just put one of everything in? I fancy the red blazer and the burgundy or charcoal harems.

Hopefully · 30/08/2012 19:11

Pretty much Amber Grin. I have decided that I need lounge wear since I am hoping to get more than one day out of some of my work clothes, so need something to change into after work.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 19:14

good work Hopefully Grin

Love that Amber. Really do. Am >< this close but think actually it is more you than me.

Then again I got a call from a client today. I have no work clothes at all. Just a blazer type thing that is from 1992. Maybe I should.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 19:15

Did you get the xs or s Amber?

AmberNectarine · 30/08/2012 19:21

I got the s Marsha, which is a good fit on me (8-10 top). Only issue is the sleeves are a little long on shorty me, but that is easily fixed. It's very 'me', feel really good in it.

OBface · 30/08/2012 19:42

Back after a busy long weekend hosting parent's ruby wedding celebrations, thoroughly thoroughly tired!

Not had time to read the entire thread but have skimmed...

Mignonette so sorry to hear about your dad, sounds like he was an incredible man. Love the parent style reports - my own were very much 70s hipsters and while they won't win any prizes for edge nowadays, dress in a classic, age appropriate way.

Lots of lovely links, am Envy at some of your a/w wish lists. I've already bought quite a few pieces but still on the look out for some leather trousers though might have a look at Bloss' j brand coated skinnies in the interim.

£1100 is very impressive at Hush Hopefully! Good luck cutting your basket down Grin

Portia4 · 30/08/2012 19:44

Amber your jacket is really nice. Is it towelling ( I always thought that that's what 'terry' is!)
Love your dresses Hopefully.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 19:51

Have done a little outnet order. Will see what it's all like and report back.

Ok not patient enough to wait until tomorrow. These are the leopard print loafer type things I ordered. What is matte-satin like.. A nightmare in the any sort of slightly less than perfect weather?

FritziGreenEyes · 30/08/2012 19:53

Princesse TamTam, Cos and Comptoir d C are very good for unpadded bras.

pop Good luck for your job interview!

Amber Chanel brogues for £20! Were they size 7 - 8? (says hopefully)....Probably gone now.

I never wore nursing bra's I have to confess. I was pretty small breasted prior to Pg anyway but I found ordinary bra's with the cups yanked down or hoiked up worked just fine.....Nothing has drooped thank goodness.

Here's that 'Rosie' link, Hopefully. The range is getting pretty good media coverage. I must admit that in one photo, the models lips resemble the surface of the small intestine-all fleshy and wrinkled. (That was a bit catty I know).

I'll have a browse at Bodas, Marsha. Thanks

mignonette · 30/08/2012 20:02

Love those loafers Marsha. I have a leopard print calfhair Alexa bag so I obviously love that print though I wouldn't wear the loafers with my bag-too matchy matchy.

They remind me of the loafers from Charlotte Olympia and Penelope Chilvers at a fraction of the price. You'll have to keep an emergency pair of lightweight roll up leather pumps in the car or your bag when you wear them. Or just be superglam in the home. I've always wanted to cultivate a glamorous 'at home' look like a 1970's American housewife- you know, cocktail in hand, frilly satin pinny, hair up, cigarette in holder although I quit years ago......

AmberNectarine · 30/08/2012 20:04

Currently dealing with a 30F situation mignonette so specialist help needed. The shoes were a tiny 3.5, so no good for size 6 me, short of toe amputation!

Portia it is not, thankfully, more sort of thick 'tracksuit' fabric (doesn't that sound aspirational?) It is nice, honest!

Marsha as I've already said, I love those shoes, my only concern would be the satin, but I am horribly careless with my clothes

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 20:08

Oh yes I agree, the slightly on the edge but obviously very glamorous housewife look. Do the shop in a Hermès skirt etc

Good price too I agree, pleased they are not Lanvin price for a change.

Very Miles Aldridge (one of my favourite photographers incidentally), are you on pin Mignon? I can't remember.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 20:09

Thanks too Amber and Mignon.

I am horribly careless with my clothes too. I am so impressed you resole before wearing. Another thing I have learnt recently!

mignonette · 30/08/2012 20:11

I have just registered on pin, marsha but all i have are pictures of lichen and mossy stones (my geek interest!). I'll sort it out then post details....

My DD is 34E and gets in such a stew about it. She buys Freya but covets my dainty little scraps of lace and chiffon-when I can find them.

Didn't Miles Aldridge used to go out with Kristen McMenemy the model? he's very mod looking,

Portia4 · 30/08/2012 20:12

What do you ladies think of this for a wedding?

mignonette · 30/08/2012 20:14

What a bargain. And pretty timeless. Colour good for A/W too, Portia. Plenty of fun to be had accessorising that too.

DonaAna · 30/08/2012 20:16

Love the sound of a little Outnet order Marsha...

Hopefully love to get your updates again! I would love a Me&Em navy dress but am too big for S. The Dylon jeans blue was petrolish in my batch too warm on me - the navy is a pure cool blue that suits me better).

Mignonnette talk to me about perfume - but not tonight Have worn Bois d'Armenie from Guerlain all day today but miss my Leather Oud. Will try to report SOTD unless you object Grin

Amber serious charity shop envy.

Have sent the MS of our new book to the publisher today. Am already wondering what to wear at the launch - will be in Jan if things work out. Oh and will miss all the lovely men at work - last day tomorrow. Am already looking for excuses to get back soon... Will organize a big party in Nov.

Last meeting today at the seaside in a cafe watching the sunset, sipping prosecco (have to admit I'm not the biggest fan). In denial about having to pack tomorrow and return to Rome on Sat.

mignonette · 30/08/2012 20:18

Whenever you are ready Dona.....Your evening's weather sounds better than ours. The wind and gales jet propelled me over Waitrose carpark.

Hopefully · 30/08/2012 20:38

Just have to mention my new addiction. It is everything I desire in chocolate.

Dona my mental image of you is about a size 6 Smile. Are you in denial about packing or returning to Rome? Surely not the latter? I know you don't do overly personal stuff, but would love a PM of what your book is for a little insight into what you do Grin.

Mignonette my sister is a 32/34E, and much prefers the shape she gets from vintage style bras, like those from What Katie Did. The 'lift and separate' actually makes her bust look smaller. Even further from scraps of lace and chiffon though...

Portia that dress looks great - nice and classic, but interesting enough not to be samey.

Marsha do you think you could spray the loafers with protector spray? maybe phone NAP and discuss. Am sure they would be best as fair weather shoes, but don't see why they wouldn't survive a shower. I used to have a pair of v cheap satin ballet pumps and because they were synthetic (doesn't say if yours are or not?), any dirt rinsed straight off and they dried in about 5 mins.

God, I've got verbal (typing?) diarrhoea after a week away Grin

CaroleService · 30/08/2012 20:55

Blimey, just back from holiday and have caught up with all the madness. Impressed to see you sailing serenely on, Ladies, ignoring the bitchiness. Long may you continue.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2012 21:13

Portia I love that for you, think it would be perfect and you would look great.

I hope so Hopefully re spray. But aah at not being silk I assumed it would be. I see it could also possibly be polyester, which would not be good at all. but yes a call to NaP is a good idea, thanks. and lol at verbal typing, it's great.

Dona how wonderful! Congratulations! Yes what to wear to launch is a big deal. I have one of those coming up (in Germany). And already thinking about what to wear.

Mignon not sure, but rings a bell. Probably I'd say.

And enthusiastic wave to Pickled, OBface, Fritzi and Carole. So nice to see you all here.
