Me too on the camping. No, no. Love hotel rooms!

Love skinnies and heels too. Until I met DH (he's short!) and had children I wore high heels All The Time. Now, not so much but still love them and always wear for a night out or for work. But then I am 5ft 1...

marsha I'm thinking Michael Kors for the leather leggings although not sure they'll come up small enough. Baggy leathers would be... [shudder]!

Sounds like lovely relaxing child free time breton.

Hope your hectic week goes smoothly dona.

Can I creep back here? I've been missing due the being swamped at the end of last school term, then was away for the summer holiday. Got back a couple days ago and have been busy getting boys, house, and me ready for the new year. I don't know why, but the start of a new school year has always felt more like New Years Day than the actual day.

Was a bit surprised by the nastiness in the beginning of this thread, but you ladies handled it with typical aplomb, and things have returned to the usual loveliness.

Have very briefly skimmed the thread, and in my typical pre-senile state, have forgotten just who purchased what, but I just wanted to give a testimonial as a leather legging lover, that no - one does not get sweaty as they are made with a thin leather, as opposed to thicker skins used to make biker trousers. I love them, and they definitely have been one of my wisest and avidest buys.

On the handbag front, I have a most boring small selection of Hermes bags purchased slowly over the past 12 years and wear one daily. However, like any long term relationship, I have been feeling the need for a leetle change, and have been eyeing Bottega Venata and Celine. I have not caved in yet, as I would feel guilty cheating (plus I need to keep justifying the cost of those bags by chipping away at their cost-per-wear!). Oh, but I WANT!

I have been very quiet on the shopping front as it is shorts and tees all summer long, and the only purchase I made was a Canada Goose Kensington Parka in anticipation of the weekly Sunday morning 2 hour endurance sessions known as rugby practice. After freezing my bottom on a weekly basis last year, I decided to be better prepared this year!

Looking forward to sharing life stories wrapped in W&A buys Wine. Happy New Year everyone!

blue2711 · 27/08/2012 07:43

Happy new year momin! Nice to see you. I remember you wore leather leggings to the MU (though I wasn't there) and I was jealous then! Are yours Joseph? Not sure I can face the expense as there's a few other things I'm wanting too (isn't there always?) but they do look lovely on MW. How does their sizing come up?

AmberNectarine · 27/08/2012 08:09

Lol at boring selection of Hermes! Welcome back mominatrix, I have been thinking of you at every mention of leather leggings!

I think if I go down the leather route it needs to be trousers not leggings, my legs will not stand up to them.

Now we actually have as many passports as we do people, I have come to the realisation I need to start packing, and also that I am going back to work two days after we get home from holiday!! Yikes!

shopafrolic · 27/08/2012 08:31

Great news re: passports Amber enjoy your break

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 10:09

Hi Momin very nice to see you!

I think you should get a little Celine or Bottega. Many Hermes sound lovely too.

Good work Amber.

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 10:12

Ah Blue yes not baggy I agree. A good xs

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/08/2012 11:21

momin I hear youre the lady in the know about leather trousers! Please tell all. Where did you buy them? How to judge fit? How much do the stretch?.....

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/08/2012 11:23

blue see you got here first!!! Want all the leather legging answers! It's a thought if you get it wrong considering the price!!!

Millie1 · 27/08/2012 12:16

Okay, I've succumbed and have set up a Pinterest account. Not got much on it yet but a great way to remember pieces I have seen for the children and me of course--. So can someone more experienced tell me whether I can delete a pin? I guess I can delete the board but it would be asker to delete the pin. Also, of one wants to pin something in a specific colour ... how? When I try to copy and paste the link, it seems to bring up whatever is the default colour. Just loving the boards and links!

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 12:19

Yes you can go to edit pin and say delete.

For a specific colour I do a screen grab but there may be another way.

Millie1 · 27/08/2012 12:25

Thanks Marsha.

notyummy · 27/08/2012 12:43

Hi Momin! Good to see you back.

Hope everyone is well! All a bit busy here but good. Nice run this morning and now off out to see Brave and have lunch. Wearing belted grey tunic dress with floral pattern over grey leggings and biker boots. Weather fairly rubbish but not actually raining yet....

Exactly Pop. I don't want to wear AW boots yet. I just need something for one to two months. Should have got Lanvin in the sale, hopefully theoutnet will do some. Probably will be ages before they do.

Good luck with the job decisions!

After my weekend of indulgences we are having a low key family day.

Bonsoir · 27/08/2012 13:28

Buy some Tod's - they have shoes/ankle boots for all seasons and the soles don't wear out!

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 13:36

Thanks Bonsoir. Yes rubber soles are good. I have some Italian ankles boots (which sadly I don't like) that are like new.

Am checking them out....

cheesesarnie · 27/08/2012 13:54

Sorry can't think who answered about wedding outfit-
decided not to go with it so wore emerald green shift dress instead. dress was right but as poster above pointed out- ankle boots looked too wintery!

exited to be catching up with friends tonight and escaping the bomb sight that is my house (nearly back to school, it can stay that way till then!).

mignonette · 27/08/2012 17:44

The Crown and Castle in Orford is lovely- I have seen children here and it is near 'Blyton-esque' Southwold, Aldeburgh and Walberswick.

This gorgeous Suffolk Tudor B&B is highly recommended too -

DonaAna · 27/08/2012 18:10

Too busy and exhausted to keep up but welcome new people!
Wore emerald Goat sweater to work today with Roxannes and boots, liked it. A tiny thing - side vents - make a difference.

Have stopped buying leather soled shoes. They may make sense somewhere but not in my universe - and can't be bothered to take everything to the cobblers all the time. I hate slippy shoes on marble and ceramic floors. Can recommend many Scandi designers (though Acne may not be one of them) - for example my Stylesnob ballerinas are pretty and dressy but have cute, invisible rubber soles - not monstrous and Camper-like.

Mominatrix your bags sound fab. Many school mums wear Hermes where I live and it's always classy and understated, meant for women who have found their style already. I sometimes go to Hermes boutiques (like their boutique perfumes) and have eyed some of the bags - may eventually get a Kelly or Birkin but am in no rush. Many Italians also wear Hermes belts.

Love my work. Every day is different, liaising with a lot of people, exciting things going on, but too much on my plate ATM and am at home around 7 pm which is too late. Even after a 10-hour workday have not crossed out everything on the to do -list. Tomorrow, we'll have the champagne & perfumes party - really looking forward to it (plus will stay the night after the party in my city apartment without DC - a real treat). DC have had a fabulous day with my aunts, but DD2 vomited on the way back. I sincerely hope it was just carsickness - there is never a good time for stomach flu Confused

mignonette · 27/08/2012 18:19

Am looking for some cigarette pants in plum, nut brown or ivy green. Needlecord would be nice, nothing wider though as it adds bulk. Serge (light weave) or a mercurised cotton would also do.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I love the edge to edge pared down in detail coats that are about. But am fighting the urge to buy one in the pinkish/mushroom shades because they are so impractical but they look surprisingly great with plum/burgundy pants.

These are the boots that have lasted the best-

www.thefryecompany.com/womens-boots/view-all/77048/campus-14g-shearling

and I have worn Doc Martins Bikers since 2004, similar to these. I get them MOT'd and treated every autumn-

I also like these-

store.drmartens.co.uk/p-5389-dr-martens-jenny-boot.aspx

and the DM satchels are beautifully made with soft yet structured leather and I have yet to see anybody with one-

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 19:09

I've only seen skinny cords Mignon, so far not cigarette.

I think I could stay with leather but need to be far less cavalier about how I look after them.

Dona divine as ever! I am slowly getting back to my more interesting international existence (work rather than travel) and relishing every moment.

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2012 19:12

Although have done nothing today other than buy a kettle.

Shop is this the same as the Céline clutch? If so it has a strap.

DonaAna · 27/08/2012 19:22

I recycled my skinny burgundy jeans a year ago

I thought burgundy will never ever be back. Blimey...

I don't need wardrobe purges, I need an attic.
Everything will be back, eventually.

DonaAna · 27/08/2012 19:24

Oh Marsha love the Celine clutch.
Saw MJ doing Celine shapes - they will be all over high street soon.
