For everyone who wants to harp on about their new purchases, enjoys links and some chat. Here is to new beginnings!

OP posts:
DonaAna · 23/08/2012 20:51

Might kill for a glass of rosé - love all the talk, keep it coming, and love even more the cameo appearances of the FB crowd, please stay!
Mignonnette intriguing stuff.
Acne virtually unknown in Italy.
Marsha Preen and peacoats

DH livid because I let a gay male friend sleep over. Men really don't get it do they?

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 20:57

My aunt used to be a buyer for YSL, but gave it up when she had children. I am still angry about this. The discounts. The freebies. Sob.

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:01

Marsha - did you do Pistols?

I want the swagger too. But (dare I say it), actually not that keen now on the Pistols.......

So, Russian Vogue, Dona...do you actually read, or just look at the pictures? Hmm?

Trixy - we have started a massive project on a house. Lovely to hear about your renovations too.

I must say I prefer E A to C R. Although CR did great things.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 21:02

5 bags I would like to own in the future:

  1. Alexander Wang Rocco. Hoping to make this a 2012 reality.
  2. YSL Cabas Chyc - love this, simple yet bold.
  3. Celine mini luggage - amazing shape and detail
  4. Stella MacCartney Falabella - though not sure if I can cope with the price for plastic
  5. YSL Muse - the ultimate sling it all in bag.
Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:08

Thanks Amber...well, Louis Roederer champs; DH v sweet and has assigned a wad for me to go shopping to spend...plus fave Dyptique perfume Philosykos; Cowshed stuff from DD1, scarf from DD2 and Ren stuff from DS. Plus some nice Pjs...and some books etc. Oh and dinner out on Sat ...so did very well...

sorry (very dull)...

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:10

I really love the Falabella too, but not enough to buy a plastic bag. Shame.

The Stella Mc C evening wear on Nap is very alluring.

I really would like a Marant parka type coat for AW.

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 21:13

I did Dauphin I did. Two years ago now I think. I wore them out in a season. I'm hesitating because I like to do something new each time. And it feels like going backwards getting them again. And I want something not so big on my feet. (although grr got the usual 40 when should have got a 39)

And happy birthday! Ooh shopping good good. I have a Stella M dress that isn't quite right for me. But I have to make it work, somehow! It's one of the shhh most expensive things I have.

Yes people feel free to throw in renovation / decoration chat. I love the tail end.. Georgian, F&B, E15, Asplund etc but haven't done any renovating at all.

I adore EA so much. Her look in general. So naturally stunning.

Ok Amber yes good fun
Céline - everything and anything, Clutch. Envelope and mini luggage.
P Lim - can't remember the name.

That's it.

Dona it was for but a second. But it was good fun.

shopafrolic · 23/08/2012 21:16

What does it mean if you read Harpers rather than Vogue - am I banned?
Am starting to think about things I need on Saturday. They include:
A cream blouse that will look good with jeans
Black ankle boots
Coloured or patterned skinnies cords or jeans
A camel coloured jumper plus other knitwear
A blazer
A parka (?? Not sure)
Ballet pumps
Some gold stackable rings
Dresses
And the list goes on and on and on and on!

I swear my DH thinks all of my gay friends will hit on him so he avoids like the plague! They absolutely don't get it!
Best story from a gay guy I used to work with who had previously been married. I asked him whether he knew he was gay when he married his wife. He replied "not at the time but in hindsight the fact I designed her wedding dress should have been a giveaway!"

trixymalixy · 23/08/2012 21:18

Love that Celine clutch you pinned Amber.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 21:18

Dauphin a shopping spree is not boring! I will be requesting the same from DH come December. Sounds like a lovely day!

Marsha I like Philip Lim too, I like the Pashli, but then it is v similar to Mini Luggage. I also sort of want a 2.55 but worry it is too classic for me. DH has promised me one when he makes partner, but I might as for a jacket instead. Now that I could rock.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 21:19

Think that was marsha, trixy. I don't get on with clutches, I get too drunk. I do have one sparkly Anya though.

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:20

L also loooove AW. AVogue is wonderful.

Hmmm, our own AS is a wonder isn't she? Has the eclectic British thing, and carefully underdone. Not sure I like, but sh

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:21

e's (sorry!) a bit of an institution now. Bless..

Yes, do need a 2.55. Think you could rock a 2.55 Amber.

trixymalixy · 23/08/2012 21:21

Oh yes it was Marsha. I suspect I won't get on with clutch bags for the same reason!!

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 21:22

Sounds like a good list Shop. I read the full spectrum of publications. From Vogue to Easy Living (I know) to Tatler to Red. I am a wanton mag whore.

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 21:25

Shop - no matter... I read everything: Harpers, Vogue, Tatler, PLUS acres of house mags each month. Small fortune. Always have done. Have Vogue copies in my loft from 1987. Sheesh. Don't tell me, some of you were born that year.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 21:25

I saw a woman on Tuesday with a black 2.55 worn with the nastiest pastel floral dress with a frilled hem (like an 80s Laura Ashley reject) and scuffed brown shoes. I wanted to rip it off her arm and tell her she didn't deserve it.

mignonette · 23/08/2012 21:28

Proenza bags - love all of these but can only have one. Which?

I have already chosen this for a birthday but unsure as to colour-

Loewe 28 Amazona bag in refined calf -

or with the gold/ orange handle colourway.

This satchel for DD-

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 21:29

Sounds good Shop

I read the fashiony fashion ones Ten, Self Service and Vogue but for other reasons too. Well don't read them at all just look at the pics. (although like Ten writing). But all in for buying and looking at mags.

ok one last one need to look at dh or something but if anyone knows what this orange lovely bag is let me know.

lol Amber

ok got to go poor dh!

shopafrolic · 23/08/2012 21:30

Phew! I must confess to Country Living Magazine too! We live in a grade 2 listed coach house which we have been slowly doing up since 2007. So I have gone from fashionable clubber to country bumpkin in one easy swoop! Hopefully now I'll be a fashionable bumpkin though.
Amber love your reason for no clutch bags. The only one I own is a Gina one I had on my wedding day. Kept losing it all evening but I was v v drunk! (Classy bride)

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 21:32

Shop I wanted to respond to you post ages ago, but don't worry it will come back faster than you think (perhaps already there?) and it will be fun at the same time.

Also there was an article the other day about Londoners living in the country stylishly. Sienna's sister etc. It sure can be done. Ok...

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 21:33

random ok

AuldAlliance · 23/08/2012 21:37

Mignonette, the price range on those first bags is so varied, surely you could have two or three cheaper (I use the term with some reservations here) items for the same price as one insanely expensive one?

Or am I suffering from blurry vision? Have drunk more than a mignonette of wine tonight. Hic.

Hopefully · 23/08/2012 21:39

Just running in to say (a) I bloody hate packing and (b) I impaled my finger on a staple earlier. It bloody hurt.

House packing is going slowly but getting there. Can't wait to get back to S&B land when we have unpacked.

AntPants1 · 23/08/2012 21:40

Hello all. Have not posted for a bit so will not even attempt to catch up! amber. Do you have your passport?
