Blossoming Envy Have been to S.France near Montpellier, end Aug/Sept for the last 3 years, but sadly not this one. Is really really beautiful there.

Decameron Awful to hear about your relative but at least something that life support has been switched off. I hope she has lots of support and that you will get the chance to go home and visit soon.

NY did you get some of the Oasis skinnies? I saw them a week ago and fell in love. My favourites were the deep red ones.

I was in New York for a year when I was 21 would love to go back.

Decameron · 23/08/2012 16:59

Belated happy birthday, Dauphin, glad you had a good time.

Cheesesarnie, I like the sound of the dress but not sure about the boots, maybe a bit wintry.

Thanks Bloss, Suburban, Blue. :) Sorry to do a runner on FB. Bloss, my cousins live abroad and she and her husband spent most of their time in the middle east for his job so not sure what will happen now. Lots of relatives and friends to help though.

OBface, t-shirt is very nice and a trip away sounds great. DH and I have never been away together without the DC, no one to leave them with unfortunately!

Blue, your outfit sounds lovely. I have seen many badly dressed French women but lots of well dressed ones. Also New Yorkers, I like the groomed style but what is with the white tights in the summer?!

blossoming · 23/08/2012 17:04

cheesesarnie, I'd say nay, but then I'm a Classic!
Sounds lovely ob. Love Barcelona.
Hi dauphin, lovely to have you back, and how exciting re shopping.
suburban, we normally go Cote d'azur, but now there are flights to Beziers I'm loving Languedoc even more. Currently drinking the Domaine's rose as an apperatif

AuldAlliance · 23/08/2012 17:31

Quick query, though I dread the consequences for my bank account.
Those of you who have the me&em cap-sleeved dress, what do you wear over it? jacket? cardigan? I've just seen they have it in green and I'd really love to get it, but I need to justify the cost, as it's too thick and warm to wear between about May and October here, so I'd have to layer.

FritziGreenEyes · 23/08/2012 17:49

AuldAlliance I have the Me & Em in grey marl and wear it with a belted cardigan or a blazer and big scarf. Think it will also work well when it's colder with opaques and shoe boots. The green is lovely!

Who loves the new Balenciaga heeled ankle boot in different coloured skins? American Elle have them in editorial but not featured on their main site yet.

I would love one of the new Vuitton Yayoi Kusama designed bags, my favourites are the Monogram Town Speedy 30 in red and the Red Monogram Waves Neverfull. some of them are featured in Grazia.

I was lucky enough to get a Mulberry Alexa in leopard calf hair which I adore, of course but it's frustrating that the calf hairs tend to get rubbed off on the straps and the top of the flap. I've knotted and wound a silk scarf around the handles to cushion them. I also have a Roxanne in ox leather 'Oak' and a vintage brown calf suede Celine shopper with round metal circle handles. I rotate them so they don't feel 'left out!'

Does anybody have last season's Loewe 'Flamenco' bag? The ones with tassles and in bright oranges/reds? I am procrastinating whether to get one. How practical are they? The Alexa is great when worn cross body but it's fiddly to retrieve purses etc from inside, pay then put stuff away inside when carrying by the handles as the closures are awkward. And I don't always want something dangling/swinging away when worn with the cross body strap-which makes me wonder- How on earth do men tolerate their balls swinging about?

mignonette · 23/08/2012 19:40

Apologies for any spamming but Heimstone's a favourite brand of mine and these boots tick the 'western' trend for me, kind of 'Oliver Twist meets Annie get your Gun!'-

I rotate my bags too mignonette, favouring a little blue MaxMara at the moment, which is on rotation with a green Mini-Gracie and a neon pink Raoul. Lovely bright summer shades for lovely light little bags. When the weather changes and I RTW I will haul out the heavy Mulberries. Not sure what I think of the Kusama collection. For some reason I find the spots oddly reminiscent of bacteria under a microscope or something. I have only one LV, a mini-speedy in gold vernis monogram from about ten years ago. Never gone a bundle on them.

decam so glad your relative is out of danger. You are already much missed.

blue the application has at last been submitted and I should have it by next Friday. We fly on Sunday so not much wriggle room!

After the tedium of the Pisspoor office I took a stroll down Sloane St, where I bought this lovely jumper, which I think will be a great layering item. I did actually use the term 'transitional piece' in convo with the SA and stood cringing and waiting for the Wanker Alarm to go off. Some lovely, lovely things around. I have my eye on this sweatshirt and this top among a lot of other things!

trixymalixy · 23/08/2012 20:00

How on earth do men tolerate their balls swinging about?

Mignonette, that made me roar out loud! Not good when I'm sitting in DD's room to try to get her to sleep!!

More lovely links, keep them coming!

mignonette · 23/08/2012 20:00

amber - Your bacteria comment did make me laugh but as a health professional, maybe that's why I'm attracted to them?

I'm not keen on the regular LV's - a bit too TOWIE for me but the artist collaborations interest me from the perspective of 'owning' a piece of art that is a bit more limited edition than a print on the wall.

I'm looking for a large flattish wallet with a strap to slip my hand in. It needs to be larger than A4 size.

Valentino have some nice ones but cannot quite bring myself to buy V- too reminiscent of Joan Collins and stapled-face Euro trash. Any suggestions?

mignonette · 23/08/2012 20:05

Love Maje and Sandro. This is a good coat. Sorely tempted...........

Dying to read Sept Vogue but also knackered after a long day.

Am enjoying the French thread (also a bit smug - Benetton, Esprit and Castaner get some love over there - my humble wardrobe basics).

Did I already say this - the point of Acnesque boots is not what they look like - it's the sexy, confident, goddess like swagger in your walk.

Another day wearing a simple white tuxedo blouse (always mandarin collar for me) with skinnies and mock Acnes. Love the simplicity.

Got a larger Zatchel (cream) for my work bits and bobs. Love the schoolgirl wibe...

mignonette · 23/08/2012 20:24

Am looking forward to the biggggg September edition of American Vogue.

DonaAna Sept UK edition is much better than previous editions which were getting very thin on editorial. There's A great feature on Kate Phelan's house (ex Vogue fashion director).

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 20:27

Bloody hell Dona you are so right I feel quite weak. It is the walk.

I might have to get more.

DonaAna · 23/08/2012 20:28

Sorry way too tired to spell correctly.
Or maybe it's just my Russian accent...
Amber transitional piece Grin - I think I need an American Vintage trasitional piece Hmm
I don't do LV and have a soft spot for Valentino

DonaAna · 23/08/2012 20:32

I give up - just four letter words for me puhleaseee...
And yes would like me some Vogue.
Did I say the Russian edition is my favorite?

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 20:33

Yy to Acne swagger. Still loving the Star boot, but it's a brogue boot for me this winter.

mignonette · 23/08/2012 20:36

I don't read Italian well enough to get enough out of Italian Vogue but I like the French edition although preferred Corinne Roitfeld's editorship. I love her look.

I found a needlecord YSL 'Rive Gauche' jacket yesterday in a charity store- dark plum. Perfect transitional piece along with my Ferragamo buckled pumps. Would love Belle De Jour flats by Roger Vivier but have to settle for Tory Burch's 'tribute'.

pickledsiblings · 23/08/2012 20:37

trixy, did you think about reinstalling some features from salvage. I have seen it done quite successfully.

Decam, get ye back to FB straight away! Have just posted a photo of my lovely DD, you'll miss it, plus, I want to see some more pics of your lovely girlies. Sorry about your relative btw.

Wore my lovely JB blue bonnets to work today. Felt I could get away with it as hunky German boss wore red trews yesterday. Lots of nice compliments - so glad coloured denim is staying for a while longer.

MarshaBrady · 23/08/2012 20:37

Yes I need something else not pistol. Hmmm

Laughed at transitional piece and tassels (in Sainsburys). Should really go in but hoping dh has put dc to bed.

Dauphin lovely to see you. Smile

AuldAlliance · 23/08/2012 20:37

I like wibe. Think I may adopt it. Am all in favour of new words.
DS1 has been reading a French--> Provençal wordbook DS2 borrowed from the library and has declared that a watering can is henceforth to be known by its Provençal name: arrousadou.
Can you tell I've been on the rosé?

trixymalixy · 23/08/2012 20:44

pickled, we have reinstalled some original features. We unearthed the cantilevered stone staircase which was covered in concrete and reinstated reclaimed cast iron balustrades and had a bespoke walnut handrail made for it. It was ££££, but so worth it and gives me joy every time I run my hand along it.

The dining room has a Georgian reclaimed hob grate and fireplace we bought on ebay and we are at some point going to try and match the fragments of cornicing we found when we took down the false ceilings.

Hence why I have a smaller budget for clothes than I would like!!

Dauphin · 23/08/2012 20:48

Did I forget to mention I was, shush, 43 yesterday...? I'm ok though. Feeling fit ...and these days, very comfortable in my own skin. Thankfully...only taken about 40 years.

See, I have always loved the classic LV logo. DH kindly presented me with the Alma on my 30th-so it's really vintage, I guess Wink. I'm hankering after a Tods bag now. I do have a liberal sprinkling of Mulberry, some from way back, some recent additions. And I do rotate them too.

Had a lovely peruse around small local Cotswold town today (after swimming and walk at local arboretum with the DCs ) and wound up in scrummy cafe where I was having a bit of a style crush on fellow mummy wearing stripey taupe skinnies, black cropped blazer and brown Hermes block heel shoes. Sounds a mash up, but looked amazing.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 20:49

Can I just say that I really, really hate those geometric Prada pant suits that are in every glossy? Truly, they make my eyes bleed.

AmberNectarine · 23/08/2012 20:50

Happy Birthday Dauphin - get any nice pressies?
