Hi Topaz yes follow away! Can you find someone or do you need a link?

I love, love September and it does feel like the start of a new year to me too. The freshness, changing leaves and things starting again.

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2012 08:21

Here I am if anyone wants to follow me. Style a bit edgy and eclectic, mind.

FritziGreenEyes · 22/08/2012 08:21

topaz I feel very much the same re September. Maybe it is because the seasons are changing wheras in January it is dark and wintery.

pinot Welcome!

breton Goid to see you. Please order the dress and throw in the Houlis too Smile. The 20s party sounds great. We saw a 20s themed hen night in Brighton a while ago and they looked really wonderful.

gos Vintage Chanel workwear would even tempt me to work on an office. It would suit you perfectly!

Feel free to follow me Topaz. Your words ring true with me - I kept waiting to lose more weight but have now resigned myself to the fact that this is my post DC figure now. Am so looking forward to AW12 - you ladies have inspired me.

Sorry about the monster post Hmm

StrikeAPose · 22/08/2012 08:58

Waking up to the 1920s pins on my phone was a lovely start to the day breton (and I love the Outnet dress too)!

shop What a fab morning. As for style, I'd say I'm a Natural with a Heart for Sequins. Like dona, I won't be going back to my original consultant. She overdid it on the make up hard sell, and got stroppy with a couple of us who didn't want to buy much.

cheese Am a big, huge declutterer (like fritz to the despair of DH). If it makes you less nervous, I have two handbags (a tan leather satchel and a bright blue suede cross body smaller bag).

No S&B news and shopping vicariously through you. Am contemplating the Hush jacket though - just need to check it's a Summer Berry colour.

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2012 10:35

I love Style Passport Dona, great selection of brands - very much my style. I like AV tees, despite viscose content, they are great.

Am wearing my new cobalt AV tee today, with indigo Current Elliott roller boyfriend skinnies, Whistles pink snakeskin belt and my cobalt/black/taupe Bowies. Bit matchy-matchy (by my standards) but I like. Am debating bags, will probably be neon pink Raoul. I like pink and cobalt.

MarshaBrady · 22/08/2012 10:39

Dona don't be sorry it's a lovely post about work and fashion!

I feel very happy these days and haven't felt this good about the sartorial spaces I inhabit since my 20s when my friends and I used to really do out there style things that we loved.

Three places, a school - stonkingly great individual style, whilst also being very loyal to a certain label eg Marant or APC or in the case of one lovely friend only charity shop buys and vintage.

A club type place. Love the vibe. It's an I don't have to try but I look fabulous type way. A smidge of LA summer. Saw a great look with bleached blonde hair and leather and black, even on 30 degree day and a fantastic orange shift with black ankle boots.

Then there's here and you guys Smile which I love too.

And sure would love to get more, but feel good about what I buy. Well most of it anyway.

And yy to Amber's forward-thinking fashion.

Ok that's my self-indulgent post, feel free to add your story Grin

MarshaBrady · 22/08/2012 10:40

I love pink and cobalt.

Am in indigo and watermelon, plus orange Celine.

MarshaBrady · 22/08/2012 10:46

And in terms of my style I think the less embellishment the better. So no ruffles, no say 40s fashion, no hats, scarves and very few accessories. A plain watch and wedding etc rings.

One of my favourite outfits is wool shorts and tshirt plus Lanvin (and seems to get the most compliments if that means anything).

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2012 11:15

Yes I absolutely cannot do ruffles etc either marsha - I need quite a 'hard' look, really. Studs I can do. Also wear v little jewellery, watch is about it and even then it's occasional. Have requested a necklace from DH for our anniversary next month, so we shall see...

StrikeAPose · 22/08/2012 11:22

I also have an aversion to ruffles, frills, peplums and other unnecessary nonsense fripperies. I only ever wear a wedding ring (plain band), with engagement ring for occasional sparkle. I used to wear lots of bangles and beads. Plain wrong on me.
But I do like sequins Hmm.

notyummy · 22/08/2012 11:34

I used to wear bangles etc all the time and still like the look of them (saw some nice looking ones in Grazia this week) but they drive me mad clanking on things (Table etc) and I hate it if other people have loads of them on and are clashing and clanking all over in an important meeting. I do like earrings, but am dangerous for losing them so have very few that could be described as anything other than 'cheap'. My main problem is being so short of time to do anything in the way of accessorising. I can just about fit in browsing through the wardrobe each night and laying out a work outfit - finding a range of jewellery as well just seems like too much. Hence I stick to plain silver drop earrings, plain-ish watch and the same necklace (silver) most days!

Hopefully - saw that lovely AMQ dress you tried a few weeks ago and returned. Was in ST Style mag. Style mag also had a feature on silk blouses, unfortunately the ones in my price range didn't come in colours I like.

Have had a look at the coated jeans on Oasis. Looking promising as they have 4% elastane, which I read in an article somewhere (Grazia?) is the thing to look for the right amount of stretch and 'spanx for the legs' effect Wink. haven't ordered yet but will think on it....

blossoming · 22/08/2012 13:36

Glad you found me shopaholic. I love Pin. About to head to the pool. Hope to catch up and comment soon.

shopafrolic · 22/08/2012 14:52

Oh Marsha how true.
I wonder how old you all are?
You already know I turn 40 this year. And these posts are giving me back a confidence that I thought I had lost in the maternity ward!
I used to be a dancer in nightclubs and at raves (NOT THOSE sort of clubs!) - spent my Uni years at Manchester Met and all my student loan in the Hacienda and shopping in Armani. When I moved back to Herts the clubbing stayed with me. The only time I ever really 'didn't care'. Such confidence in myself, my style, and such beautiful people around me. And amazing conversations well into the small hours. Soaking up the Ibiza vibe and watching the sunset at Mambo or Del Mar.
As time went by I realised you can't hold down a full time senior job in Marketing and party as hard as I was so I guess the focus moved from weekend style to work style.
And then to frump style during pregnancy and BF.
My body shape has changed, and probably my confidence but my interest in fashion has been reignited here.......

shopafrolic · 22/08/2012 14:52

notyummy I have the black coated Oasis jeans and they have worn and washed fine so far.

notyummy · 22/08/2012 15:03

Thanks Shopafrolic - useful to know! I have some Gap ones that I LOVE, but they are starting to wear, and they no longer do them. I tried some ££££ ones from Levi Made and Crafted but didn't like them at all. I may have to get soem Oasis ones. I haven't bought anything from there for a while (a dress earlier this year being the exception) and the trousers/jeans always used to be cut to fit my slight pear shape rather well.

notyummy · 22/08/2012 15:04

I have already turned 40 this year Shop. Off to Budapest next month with four school friends to celebrate our common milestone!

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2012 15:27

shopafrolic I am 27. This thread is great for boosting fashion morale, I found it invaluable postnatally when I felt frumpy and flabby.

These CEs are going on the EBay pile later. I say this every time, they are just too damn big.

StrikeAPose · 22/08/2012 16:27

amber not that anything will fit, but do pm me your eBay username Grin. Have had a happy afternoon thrifting on eBay for maternity wear.

SpringGoddess · 22/08/2012 16:48

Having a lovely day, the dcs have decided I need a treat so they are making a 3 course meal with help from dh I'm not allowed to do anything to help so I slipped away to do some shopping.

Bought these beauties from Clarks in mushroom and black leather. I can't believe how comfy they are, have tried loads and these are the first pair that work. Also managed to get 20% off - so 2 pairs of boots for less than £100!

Inspired by shopaholic's quest to get her colours done, I booked myself in for a session in mid October, should give me some time to save up for a bit of a spree.

In the meantime I spotted a few things I loved in whistles! A couple of over sized linen tops, a stunning turquoise scarf in linen too i think and a very dark green cashmere jumper but I'm patiently waiting till after I get my colours done before making any more purchases - boots excepted.

mousemole · 22/08/2012 17:10

Hi lovely ladies, I'm looking forward to seeing what the Alice Temperley range for John Lewis is like. I think it launches next week.
Randomly, and I'm going to whisper this..but for the last 2 winters I have got 2 great parkas from River Island. Last year a llovely military style one with faux fur collar. Take a peak they have some decent ones in this season too.
I'm 38. Finally decided not to go for a 4th baby and therefore am determined to get super fit, get back to a 12 from a 14 and get stuck into looking semi fashionable again. Love this thread. Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 22/08/2012 17:16

shopafrolic Will be 41 later this year. I think style-wise I have evolved in the opposite direction. Always very classic and preppy in my 20s to mid 30s, then frumporama when I had DD. Now trying to find more of my own style which is veering towards hippie chic today: strapless Zara chambray jumpsuit from last year, silver flip flops and pink and grey wooden beads. Hair in messy bun, sunglasses. Maybe we should book a week in Ibiza for half term. Grin

springgoddess Enjoy your meal! Let us know which season you are. Getting my colours done helped me immensely when shopping.
