NewChoos · 20/08/2012 19:05

and thank you marsha

shopafrolic · 20/08/2012 19:35

Thanks everyone for the good wishes
Strike I would guess I'm a Winter as I am fair with dark eyes and hair before it went grey and I started dying it but not sure. By lunchtime tomorrow I should know so I'll update you all. Thanks so much ladies. Feel better thinking that this will ensure I don't waste my gift!
Am sitting with a nice glass of chilled Sauvignon while my OCD DH hoovers the patio (YES really - he can't be bothered to get a broom out!)
Until tomorrow......

shopafrolic · 20/08/2012 19:42

Is this one of you lovely ladies? Smile

AmberNectarine · 20/08/2012 19:50

Another Winter here - love my colours, only one of the disallowed ones I ever really miss is lime green, so I wear it anyway. bloss forgot to mention the winter 'Ice pastels', but I suspect she, like me, doesn't bother with them!

Good luck shopafrolic, goodness you'll be a new woman by next week!

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2012 20:45

Shopafrolic have a great day at Selfridges. If it were me I'd try to think about which labels I've had the most success with. Through trial and error I know that there are some I won't love as much.

Gos good luck with the second hand hunt!

Fritzi! were they ok? I will have to check my CoH floral skinnies!

Amber report back when you get to wear your high tops. I was impressed with how quickly your dh found something, and something you love.

Dona don't worry dh and I find ourselves rushing to put a wash on with the new machine. Still exciting not to be using a tin can. Less haste to fold and put away I may add.

Decam cashmere cardigan sounds gorgeous. I love NYC and wanted to live there so much but ended up here instead. As no greencard. I remember the platform was so hot, it was all pumping out from the subway carriages with their ac. Did you live in Manhattan? so great.

Auld welcome! I love these MSGM alternatives to skinnies

Bloss me too, me too.

Hi Blue lovely to see you. I'm going for Eres one day but in the sale. Too much.

I'm meant to be out tonight, later. I really don't like drinks on a Monday night. I mean there are 6 other better nights to choose from!

AuldAlliance · 20/08/2012 20:48

I'm about 25 mins from St. R, Bloss, but in a much less rarefied environment. Couldn't possibly afford to live anywhere like that on my salary and I think in recent years v few French people have been able to buy property there apart from a wealthy few.

But while we're idly fantasising, I'd have a mas near here, a flat in Edinburgh, a house like like this one for holidays with friends, a cabin around here for getting away from it all...

Decameron, the cap-sleeved dress is too thick for the temps just now (36-40°); the other two you linked to look lovely, though.

blossoming · 20/08/2012 21:01

Yes I will probably be wearing my linen sleeveless White Co dress when I visit auld! I remember being in Uzes years ago in a white skirt and sweat trickling down my legs! I do love that area but not so deluded to think I could ever live there. There is a 5* hotel though I think. I can save for that!

DonaAna · 20/08/2012 21:09

A quick hello - poor Marsha you have to go out Wink. After a full weekend of partying, I'd like to sleep for a change - stupid me, had an espresso at 6 pm .

Happy b'day MrsCB (sending you a virtual leopard jumpsuit - or would you prefer python)! Mine coming up in exactly 6 months. My role model is an 80 sth lady I see nearly every day on the bus stop. She is always impeccably dressed and coiffed, the antithesis of frumpy - and her rubber-soled brown nubuck car shoes look so comfy.

Saw a few very stylish ladies on the street today. Both mothers pushing a stroller! The first wore ivory lace over a chambray shirt and black leather leggings. The second a nude shearling / afghan coat with black leather sleeves and an oversize black Chanel shopper.

DonaAna · 20/08/2012 21:10

Oh and Fritzi thanks so much for the shirt recommendations - will check them out!

NewChoos · 20/08/2012 21:17

Good Sam Edelman offers at secretsales tonight.

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2012 21:27

Good tip NewChoos

I didn't go Blush have postponed. I just can't do Mondays. Any other night!

It was your post Dona made me envious Grin. Staying in.

pickledsiblings · 20/08/2012 21:54

For those of you looking for workwear basics, I would really recommend this fitted shirt from Mango. I have it in a pale blue and it look great, washes well and fits brilliantly due to the 2% elastane.

pickledsiblings · 20/08/2012 22:12

Amber, navy parka - is it a bit blingy looking?

AmberNectarine · 20/08/2012 22:29

Oh, I like that pickled definitely worth a RL try-on!

Bargain of the night chez Nectarine these animal print skinnies - shocking pic on the website (as always), but a great fit and super flattering.

pickledsiblings · 20/08/2012 22:45

Amber, I'll see yours and raise you these...

shopafrolic · 20/08/2012 23:08

pickled I love those! Must sleep now....

girlsofsummer · 20/08/2012 23:36

Hello have had a great day shopping with DDs. First off I was properly off work which was marvellous Grin

Hit the second hand shops and 2 great finds for me. A vava- voom very tight cocktail length black lace (over nude) halter necked dress (with a fishtail). Definitely wedding contender ? super sexy will be fun ? its very good friends and they are NOT traditional lots of party animals will be in attendance. £7.99, random label that I could tell was a small shop somewhere - made in USA.

Then, fantastic find. Found an Etam blazer but a vintage one (1970s looking label) for a fiver. Brown plaid sort of riding style and just such an amazing cut and quality even the loop for hanging it up is made of a kind of chain you would never find now. Made in UK (for Dona and fritzi who have read Overdressed!)

DD1 was my fashion adviser ? she just says ?No way not your colour/style etc ? as I pick things out - I trust her implicitly!

Then I spoiled the DDs (because I wanted to). Bought this amazing jumpsuit for DD1 to wear on some days of various upcoming weddings (one has events for 2 days and the big one at end of year will be 3 days and not in Uk)
Bought them lovely shoes for upcoming wedding [http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-W2012/269262/828549/STUDDED%20BALLERINA these]] they have a little ankle strap so sweet.

Bought DD2 a minty green leopard print dress in the Zara sale remnants ? she chose it. Something about her when she wears things like leopard print or cheeky stripes with shorts etc she just looks amazing ? style personality coming out early!

We all met DH for dinner out which was great including first ever family attempt at table football.

DD1 got a crystal for 99p at a 2nd hand shop and is so pleased with it she stayed up in bed playing scientist discovering the rare crystal (bless her!)

And got some sorting of kids clothes etc done. and lots of kitten time. So I am like Grin Grin what a day even if a little ££££.

DonaAna · 21/08/2012 05:59

Amazing finds GoS and for your girls too! Love the idea of a sexy dress for wedding. Have a black lace over nude MJ cocktail dress and the both times I've worn it it has created an entrance! I love your style and vintage always seems much more chic than something off the rack. And vintage jackets are tailored in a way you only find in couture any more - you'll look amazing in it! (If I could, I would only wear vintage Chanel, Dior and Balenciaga - their pieces were so visionary and also perfectly on trend right now. Have you seen the new O-shaped coat silhouettes and New Look inspired fashion?)

I might go thrifting myself today or tomorrow - saw a tempting shop with really interesting pieces yesterday but had to run to a meeting.

Bought navy dye yesterday. Am thinking of dyeing an old pair of faded H&M skinnies and an old ugly green Benetton sweater navy. Both would be great layering pieces for fall.

I bought a local fashion mag yesterday (still in the Nordics) and half of it was runway looks created with thrifted looks. The latter were much edgier and somehow more real... It's really a megatrend here - all the stylish dressers and street style gurus are very savvy about recycling, repurposing and thrift shopping. They also organize blogger jumble sales that are always a great hit (people queue to get in and everything is gone in minutes). Imagine a W&A sale... Grin

notyummy · 21/08/2012 07:49

Great buys GOS, and a great day.

Like the look of that Mango shirt Pickled. I have a few things from there (always tops/jackets because I find most of the skirts/dresses too short) and I really like them. I repinned that silk blouse from there you put on pin last night. I am looking for another couple of silk blouses and that could be a contender. If anyone sees a green silk blouse (must be sub £100) then please point it my way!

Dd having an amazing time at my folks. They are taking her to Brighton today, and yesterday they invited a little girl from a new family who gave just moved to the area to play. She is the same age and apparently got on like a house on fire! Lots of imaginary games and playing in the paddling pool! My dad made olive bread with the two of them and then was the sacrificial lamb for then to squirt their super soakers at Grin.

Dh and I are out for dinner tonight. I may wear a maxi, given I haven't had much of a chance of late.

blossoming · 21/08/2012 08:55

That sounds great ny. She will have such good memories of her holidays.
Bike ride has been rescheduled due to a lack of children's bikes. DS acting up and is being threatened with kids club...

AmberNectarine · 21/08/2012 09:03

ny your DPs always sound amazing, I can't wait until mine are old enough to stay with GPs, though my parents only live 10 mins away, so not sure I can convince them of the need to have the DC to stay Grin

Right, off to the passport office this morning to sort this nightmare out, and then a beeline to Selfridges I think.

DonaAna · 21/08/2012 10:45

Sending Amber good shopping karma and NY lots of green Grin

Peas I saw your message on the other thread. If lots of tat is your problem, reading 'Overdressed' will really help - warmly recommended. Am reading a few other interesting books atm, will update when have finished (a friend already flipped through one of them and found it very useful - lots in it about decluttering).

At work. Taking a 5 min break to MN after having had a productive morning - really difficult stuff too. Wearing indigo bootcuts and the D&G boucle jacket. Need to find time to go thrifting and to Zara - need a flowing top to cover up my bulging mummy tummy. Bootcamp starts on Sept 2!!! and want to find the perfect one. What do you stylish ladies wear under jackets?

OBface · 21/08/2012 11:14

£30 off orders over £100 at Style Passport using HELLOWEEKEND

Have good days all, rushing out the door to a meeting...

mousemole · 21/08/2012 13:44

Some lovely links here, thanks ladies. While I remember there is 20% off Mint Velvet at the moment courtesy of Easy Living Magazine. Enter Easy12 at the checkout. Our 2 month Turkish summer ends on Thursday and then back to reality. 6 weeks of too much food and drink has got me contemplating the alternate day fasting diet . Anyone tried it ? I do a juice fast of a week every September which is agony but shifts 7-9 lbs. Doesnt stay off though so looking for something more manageable.

DonaAna · 21/08/2012 14:18

Mouse fasting slows down your metabolism so after it your resting energy expenditure is lower - wouldn't recommend - leads to weight rebound. For me, cutting extras (sweets, desserts, wine, extra bread) and trying to walk or run 5 out of 7 nights per week works well. Recommed the book 'Mindless Eating'. I've let things slide a bit during our vacation as well and need to get back on track in Sept Hmm

On my way to a sushi restaurant for a work meeting
