For everyone who wants to harp on about their new purchases, enjoys links and some chat. Here is to new beginnings!

NY, the Earharts are the massive ones. Agnes and Houlis the same size although make sure they have the same composition as I know MiM bought two pairs of Agnes in the same size but the ones with less elastane were too small (iirc?).

shopafrolic · 19/08/2012 17:38

Think I found you on Pinterest Fritzi?

shopafrolic · 19/08/2012 17:38

Meant to ask - how do you all manage to wear silk without panicking about the looming threat of a toddler?

dexter73 · 19/08/2012 17:46

I wonder about silk too. There were some lovely silk tops at Massimo Dutti in the sale but they were all dry clean only. Can you hand wash silk without it shrinking or ruining it?

FritziGreenEyes · 19/08/2012 17:52

dexter I wash all silk tops and dresses in the washing machine on cold/delicate cycle. Put each item into one of those protection bags.

Yes, second HoC for shopafrolic. It is so useful and has made shopping a lot easier for me. I know my colours so I just go straight to them and ignore the rest.

Survived an insanely hot day at Lollibop, but and feeling knackered now. Unfortunately I have a pile of ironing as high as my firstborn to be getting on with. Sigh.

AmberNectarine · 19/08/2012 17:59

I almost never wear silk in the presence of my children. The are particularly filthy little beasts even by toddler standards.

mousemole · 19/08/2012 18:02

fritz I'm in Turkey for the summer so have been getting lots of use from the kaftan ! Now dreaming of my A/W 12 wardrobe with lots of jeans, boots and lovely woollies which is a bit odd in 40 degree heat.
Been looking at the Mint Velvet website and they have some nice stuff. Got a few tips from Wrap in the spring and they were pricey but really nice

mousemole · 19/08/2012 18:03

Tops not tips
Bloody phone

dexter73 · 19/08/2012 18:18

Thanks Fritzi!

mousemole · 19/08/2012 18:22

Btw fritzi I love that blouse Grin

notyummy · 19/08/2012 18:35

Ah you are right Pickled- twas the Earharts!

I too have washed silk in the washing machine on a delicates wash with no ill effect. Have a blue silk blouse that I am fond of for work that I would love to find something similar in different colours/patterns. Kind of loose fit, quite open neck and voluminous sleeves (with tight cuffs.) Sounds dodgy but looks alright.

We have all the fences replaced. Hurray- looks so much better. Front garden to be landscaped next month and I will finally have a garden that actually enhances the look of the house.

blossoming · 19/08/2012 19:17

How do you find people on Pin?

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 19:17

We can put a link and find everyone from that? Or is that a bad idea. Or pm it...

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 19:20

Shopaholic am following you!

Rednails what a lovely post thank you. Smile

Dona sounds really perfect.

StrikeAPose · 19/08/2012 19:33

My pinterest username is pin me this (no spaces) and I'm following most of the W&A usual suspects! Love it - it feels like shopping without the financial hit, and everything looks amazing on Grin.

shopafrolic Wow to such a fabulous present! I'd make a note for the personal shopper of things you might forget in all the excitement, e.g. need for toddler-friendly fabrics. It might be also worth making a list of how you spend your time. No point buying pretty party frocks if you use these once a year, probably better to spend the money on great jeans instead.

I'd also recommend getting your colours done. So useful (although I found watching the others get draped v dull [selfish], and would use a different consultant for a style day, as I didn't click with mine).

mousemole I love Turkey. So jealous!

More than interiors, I am nurturing a garden obsession (I so should retire). Ours is small, and a blank canvas of lawn plus fence. The aim is to keep much of the lawn free for paddling pool and other toddler stuff, and use the fences to create an edible, vertical garden of espalier trees, pots of herbs, flowers and vines.

shopafrolic · 19/08/2012 19:35

Marsha as far as I know anyone in the world can follow your pins so I think it's ok to link?
I have some right oddboxes following me - all their boards are Twins or Thai Brides! Perhaps I've got my settings wrong Confused

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 19:38

No I know I have like my random followers very much. Grin

I just want to check that there isn't anyone who has their rl name on my list. But I think it would be too hard to work out anyway.

here's mine

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 19:38

bad typing there!

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 19:41

I love our garden too.It all goes with the territory. Things looking nice.

DonaAna · 19/08/2012 19:57

Not linking to Pin but if you want to follow me pm me your Pinterest name all Voguettes and I'll follow you back.

Whew, just back from the trip and have survived the onslaught of DC.

Quick comments: I have a pair of green Uggs (everybody wore them in Italy last year, even the socialites) and a pair of Celtic Sheepskin houseboots for freezing cold ceramic floors. Both are excellent if you live in a draughty house or spend time at playground. Half of the clients at Chanel boutique wore Uggs too last Jan [shocked].

Cotton silk mix is a brilliant everyday fabric. My favorite pregnancy dress was a black empire waisted Gap cotton silk dress - and I wear my flowery Marant dress (cotton silk mix) every day with children. Sheeny heavy silks are too delicate to wear around toddlers (mine are 2 and 4) but slub silk is fine. Oh and I'm a die-hard feminist but cover my clothes with an apron when I cook and wash dishes. Sunlight and German oxgall soap are excellent stain removers (the latter removed even tomato and blueberry stains).

Mousemole ooh Turkey!
NY hooray for the fence! And silk blouses like that are excellent for making a work outfit truly great.
Welcome everyone else - I don't remember all new names yet but do keep posting and I'll learn them!

It has been raining cats and dogs today. Spent the morning at our party apartment, the day at a contemporary art museum, had lunch with friends there, then we all travelled home. Have laughed a lot and am so relaxed and rested...

Shopafrolic what a lovely brief! Do have your colors done - I made a lot of puchases before having mine done and ended up with way too many dull black clothes. I look much better in vibrant reds, corals, greens and blues.

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2012 20:01

Oh golly is it bad to do Dona? Whoops

Hey look at your inbox you have a red dot.

mintgreentiger · 19/08/2012 20:04

hello, hope you all also don't mind another random follower on pin? Just signed up this week and already addicted. Uh oh.

Shopafrolic, am also in Herts and seriously considering getting my colours done. I think I'm a winter but my self diagnosis is pretty poor. Would be really interested to hear about your experience when you have it done.

Re: previous posts on Uggs, for my sins I have a pair and while they aren't very supportive or very stylish they are so very, very warm - like wearing little radiators on your feet. At one point my daily commute involved trying not to get blown off one of the London bridges very early in the morning, and I would have wept if I'd had to do that without sheepskin lined boots.

alwaysrunninginheels · 19/08/2012 20:04

Grin dona without my glasses I thought you had recommended German oxtail soup as a stain remover. Was a bit shocked!

gypsyfloss · 19/08/2012 20:14

Shopafrolic another Herts person here who'd love to hear how you get on with a local HOC consultant. It's on my list if things to do this year.
