I'm not a fan really. Cheapskate option plus never quite right.
Also style nightmare. This is marquee at smart pub. Second marriage.
A quoi porter?

You could wear a T-shirt expressing your opinion of the bride and groom as cheapskates?

hydrangeas · 11/08/2012 17:19

I have never been to a wedding that was nor evening reception including my own.

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 17:29

They're Hs mates.

Your Henley outfit?

BonnieBumble · 11/08/2012 17:40

Why is it a cheapskate to invite people to an evening reception?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/08/2012 17:41

Wow don't go, if I was the bride I'd rather you didn't turn up with that attitude.

BackforGood · 11/08/2012 17:44

Well don't go then as you are clearly so ungrateful that someone has invited you to share part of their day with you - it's an invitation, not an order.

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 17:52

Ah. Now I could cb but I found that hot

OP posts:
TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 17:53

Oh go on with you all. Will be fine when I'm there.
Have cigarette pants heels and a top in mind. Is bog standard night out gear tho.

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 17:53

A dress too much I think?

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 11/08/2012 17:53

That's fine for evening reception.

B List invite = B list attire.

Redglow · 11/08/2012 17:54

You sound so ungrateful why ever would you go? Cheapskate???? How snobby not everyone has money.

ggirl · 11/08/2012 17:57

nah wear a dress
I am bored of your cigarette pants

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/08/2012 17:59

Evening receptions are tricksy though. You don't got in normal full on wedding guest attire but equally you can't go in nice jeans and a top Wink

Also a bit odd when everyone else is quite pissed and then you arrive.

BegoniaBigtoes · 11/08/2012 18:00

I would wear a dress, but I just think you HAVE to wear a dress to a wedding - don't know why. I also dont like evening reception only, it makes me feel a bit awkward, but if it's someone I like I wouldn't hold it against them. Also I love checking out the bride's dress and so on, so I wouldn't not go.

Anyway, wear what you like, but cheer up, it's free nibbles and fizz!

googietheegg · 11/08/2012 18:03

Evening only invites are cheapskate, admit it Wink
You still have to buy a present, it's a hassle without the joy of actually seeing the couple get married and everyone (including you) knows the couple don't like you enough for an invite to the whole thing.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/08/2012 18:03

Oh for fucks sake people, tis clearly tongue in cheek- OP doesn't actually hate them because they haven't much cash Hmm

Take offence much at fuck all ? Hmm

Cigarette pants will be fine but you will need a bit of sparkle, seen a lot of people wearing them in the day now.

Frock? Maxi? Kaftan? Cruise wear crossed with garden party?

ggirl · 11/08/2012 18:07

we had evening reception invites for work colleagues
definitely a cheapskate option
my parents paid for the whole shebang so one doesn't want to be rude and invite the whole world

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 18:12

Kaftan ?!!! :)
Yes I have no axe to grind re couple. Just bloody odd social event.
Me too re trousers. Dress hmm , might go on to pub after.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 11/08/2012 18:13

I think I would do slim trousers for pm do. Dress for fancy lunch. Wear the trousers and slutty heels

noddyholder · 11/08/2012 18:14

Yeah how snobby Grin

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 18:16

You see I NEED. To wear mrs cbs magenta shoes still

OP posts:
hydrangeas · 11/08/2012 18:20

i would never wear trousers to a wedding

Viviennemary · 11/08/2012 18:20

I never object to an evening invitation. At the cost per head of a sit down meal it is no wonder people have evening only invitations. Can't see the harm. Not as offensive as the demand for money with a cheap little verse. Now that does really make my blood boil. I have yet to receive one of these.

TenaPenny · 11/08/2012 18:21

Ah we had presence presents.
