I'm not a fan really. Cheapskate option plus never quite right.
Also style nightmare. This is marquee at smart pub. Second marriage.
A quoi porter?

There were two barman who'd been working all afternoon, the actual wedding party was quite small (about 30 people), so they recognised most of them. Plus they were wearing corsages/buttonholes.

If I got to a reception having travelled all that way and was made to wait outside for half an hour I'd go home again I have to say

Pantone363 · 11/08/2012 22:40

There is more....when we did get let in they were serving tea/coffee/liquers. Not for us obviously, we were herded away Hmm

The invite said 'glamourous' dress code (I think I actually posted for dress advice on mn!). Turned up in a glittery gold dress and super high heels and spent the rest of the night feeling way overdressed after the bridesmaid said 'you really did take the glamourous bit seriously didn't you'.

Fuck evening receptions

lipglossandlashes · 11/08/2012 22:46

You must be in England. As evening invitations in Scotland mean a huge celebration after the wedding ceremony.

MrsMangelfanciedPaulRobinson · 11/08/2012 22:49

Grrrr that sounds even worse than it did previously, Pantone!

lipglossandlashes · 11/08/2012 23:31

Pantone, that's a rubbish reception, and a shame, but here in Scotland we are delighted with an evening reception invitation and make a huge effort with heels, beautiful dresses, suits or kilts (and children dressed up) and we dance all night and thoroughly enjoy the Wedding!

BackforGood · 12/08/2012 00:20

out of interest, what are cigarette pants ?

lipglossandlashes · 12/08/2012 01:12

Slim trousers, not to be worn to a wedding Smile
Dress, or kilt or suit, it shouldn't matter, the bride and groom have invited you as their guests to a formal occasion.
To their Wedding!
So please dress up!

tartyflette · 12/08/2012 01:17

Good trousers, drop-dead sexy top. killer heels.

NoComet · 12/08/2012 01:19

No problem with giving money as a gift.
Jolly well not buying a new frock.
You get what I wore to the last wedding.

lipglossandlashes · 12/08/2012 01:26

Excellent I'm sure you'll feel great and have a lovely time, enjoy Hmm

TenaPenny · 12/08/2012 09:15

It was nice. Was very casual as apparently the wedding had happened a couple of days before!! Ha!

And regarding money. If you can't afford a big wedding- don't have one!

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 12/08/2012 09:20

As in, if you can't afford a big wedding, don't have a wedding at all??! Shock

TenaPenny · 12/08/2012 09:21

Have a small one! Much more chic anyway
