blue2711 · 26/07/2012 23:00

Argh! ... too miserable! Big hello to everyone and so enjoying your sunny stories and outfits. And ny I am so so excited about the Olympics too!

blue2711 · 26/07/2012 23:04

Did I miss the post where hopefully reports back on leather trousers or is she keeping us in suspense? Smile

Bloss, that's it, you need to move to Kew!

Kaloo, that's not very definitive!

Blue, it is heartbreaking. Your poor friend.

Icey, glad you are getting on well.

Rufus, you will just have to book another holiday.

Dh mooted postponing his time off. I may have shouted. He backed down.

So hot that I wore shorts today but fell short of the Bloss mark.

An elderly Chinese woman stopped me in the supermarket today, looked at DD1, peered in at DD2 in her pushchair and said what a shame, two girls, hopefully you will have a boy next. What a weirdo.

Decameron · 26/07/2012 23:18

I like the stripey tops, Bloss and Red.

blossoming · 27/07/2012 07:00

How dreadful for your friend blue. She is lucky to have you supporting her.
Thanks everyone for nice comments re hair.
Yes it was F rufus. Must be 2 years now, they get complacent I think. He's given me this playful little bob, really gamine, so most definitely not me. Will have to do a smoky eye to counter it.
Was it the Me&Em shorts decam? I'm going to see what's left in their sale later, whilst preparing one of those Union Jack cakes for Team GB/Olympic party for DS and his one friend(!) Whose bright idea??

Hopefully · 27/07/2012 07:14

Blue how tragic. Cancer is such an enormously unfair disease.

Briefly tried on leather trousers, but tbh was so hot and sweaty I couldn't be bothered to put on a sensible top, so he absolutely no idea if they were perfect or not. They are beautifully soft thou, really, incredibly soft. Almost like suede, but still leather, if you know what I mean. Am going to try them on again today, may take photos in mirror. Also need to make a decision on whether colour is right. It is a teeny fraction darker than I was expecting, but don't think too dark. Again, hard to tell in evening light when I finally found time to pull them on.

Grrr, DH left brand new bike trailer out in the rain last night. I know it's going to get wet, but seems a shame to leave it out in the elements unnecessarily.

Speaking of DH, having bought this bike trailer to make his SAHD life more enjoyable, he had another job interview yesterday which went really well (a recall from a company he interviewed with a month back who think he might fit in better in a different department - interview was with this other department head). If they offer him a job it will be mad find-a-wondernanny dash.

Blazer construction continues today - setting in sleeves, my nemesis Grin. The Brit teal lining is making me happy though.

bright

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/07/2012 07:38

blue your poor poor friend. It's been a couple of months since one of best friends mum died of cancer and the one thing I keep doing is dropping cakes and biscuits with her. I sum it up as I can't make it better but they might give her some energy- and they keep the kids occupied for a while.

Still very interested in hearing more about your leather trousers hopefully! Have never had leather trousers and love hearing about them. Am loving these trousers at the moment. But buy nothing for a month. I have shopped too much recently.

Does anyone have one of those tow seat things for bikes? DD isn't a strong enough cycler to really cope with decent rides and is far too heavy now in the pod so I was wounding about one of the things that a child sits on on back of bike- may be that they pedal but am not sure. So looking to see if anyone has any experience of them.

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/07/2012 07:39

Wondering not wounding....

wheresthecake · 27/07/2012 08:30

Delurking to say we've just bought a tag along bike for dd(just 5) and she absolutely loves it! It's got 7 gears and it also freewheels if she gets too tired to pedal. Would definitely recommend. (Skulks back into shadows.)

notyummy · 27/07/2012 08:32

We just have a bar that is fitted between the two bikes and lifts the front wheel of dds bike up.

V sorry to hear about your friends mum Blue. I am sure she will appreciate you bring there.

Russianred · 27/07/2012 08:36

How tragic and how cruel Blue. Sounds like you are being a wonderful friend.

Thank goodness for your report Hopefully - had visions of you stuck in your trousers. Look forward to seeing pics of your blazer too!

Have just ordered the Topshop Mighty boots in black. Had a word with myself about justifying the purchase of the Pistols. Perhaps a chance discount code/sale will come along one day, but until then I shall be content with rip-offs! Also placed a big Mini Boden order for the DC. Say what you will about Boden, but no other kids clothes wear as well/wash as well/have such a good re-sell value.

OP posts:
Decameron · 27/07/2012 09:01

Those boots look good, Red. I have gone off the pistols a bit. There are so many versions of them on the high st, it seems a bit crazy to spend that much. However if my friend passes on her Matches code again at Christmas, I probably will succumb. Don't know why Boden gets such a hard time here. I've ordered some winter clothes for the DDs.

Yes, those are the shorts, Bloss. I've ordered the pebble colour as they are now down to £14. How many are you having to the party? Have fun.

DonaAna · 27/07/2012 09:03

Checked in for the leather trouser & blazer report - need pics!!!

Waiting for the DHL man...

Blue so sorry about your friend's mum.
Kaloo sorry to hear that the color analysis was inconclusive. I'm btw seasons too but luckily my analyst used a system that has an individual palette for everyone - have started to love mine.

Still in style hell. Have eaten loads of delicious baked goods, cognac cakes are particularly sinful. Went for a run last night listening to Middlemarch Grin. Lovely weather continues. So does my fixation with slow fashion. Found some lovely yarn - contemplating whether I should start a sweater. Knitting is very relaxing.

Highlight of the day at 6 pm when MIL and I sit down in front of the telly to watch an episode of Biggest Loser

Counting down days to next week when my hairdresser returns from her hols. I really want to look groomed and need a sharp cut and new highlights. A shaggy headbang to Marsha!

Fashion crime of the day: trekking sandals worn with white socks if you are female, long black socks if you are male Shock

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/07/2012 09:15

Oh dona what is the DHL man bringing????? The fashion crimes are making me Smile not least in part because I think left to his own devices my DH would indulge!

wheresthecake does the tag along come off and on easily?

Waiting to take DS to see neurologist again today so v nervous. Cheered up but the clothing talk.

blossoming · 27/07/2012 11:02

All the best today alwaysrunning.
I wore black 912s, black converse, grey marl tee and Roxy to do the shopping, with a dark plum lip gloss. Think I also need rouge noir on my nails. It is so easy for me to look frumpy if I go to classic. Probably why I've always worn lots of black. Hair does look better though, aiming for Claudia rather than Anna Wintour
Only one friend of DS' coming to the 'party' decam, although I'm pleased to have an excuse to make that cake for an Olympic theme, as DH would never have allowed me to make it for Jubilee. I'm sure my Celtic cousins will know what I mean! Cake

blossoming · 27/07/2012 11:03

too classic obviously..

blossoming · 27/07/2012 11:39

decam, the sad fact is that the only reason I have money for shopping and hair appointments is that I live rurally!

ants just pinned this necklace. Can anyone find me one in silver?

MarshaBrady · 27/07/2012 11:53

Bloss yes I can see that Claudia is much more you. Cooler, less classic. Suits Balenciaga and blacks. Really nice.

Dona hello! What did the DHL man bring. Love the DHL delivery such luxury.

Great boots Red. A good buy.

I am really interested in those Star ones linked by Amber. And love the ones on sale (pale colour) but I really should stick to dark for winter otherwise all my outfits will have to exist in the pale zone.

There is a Maje petrol blue skirt I really love in Vogue, now if I could just find the Vogue! Somewhere tidied away. The petrol, teal blue is the thing for me this AW.

I have to be very strict with hair it has to be this this but a bit messed up or this. I used to want something different but finally I know I will regret it. Not much in it really although still agonise over which one. Thank god I get it highlighted for something to do.

It was a bit short last time (thought it would last longer) and am amazed how much that annoyed me. It's ok now.

Hair post. Anyone else? Grin

AntPants1 · 27/07/2012 12:18

It's from etsy bloss you could always ask the seller if they could do one in silver?

Hopefully · 27/07/2012 13:02

I have just pulled out the leather leggings to try on again and have noticed that the bottom of the legs is raw edged. Am I wrong in thinking that leather trousers are normally turned up and glued/hemmed? Raw edged seems rather cheap to me, even though you can't really tell from more than a few inches away.

Hopefully · 27/07/2012 13:25

Marsha my hairdresser keeps cutting my hair a shade too long, and I have made up a conspiracy theory that it is intentional to make me go back sooner for trims. I am looking forward to trying out a few new ones when we move. Vaguely annoyed that my hair will not be desperately stylish for training (next week!) though.

To Do list for this afternoon includes hand sewing a jacket lining and getting my sister to take some photos of me for my webpage. And deciding how much raw leather edges annoy me.

girlsofsummer · 27/07/2012 13:31

First time on this particular thread have not really caught up. Red you look gorgeous!! Love it.

Have taken 1.5 days off this week to spend with DC in sun which has been amazing. Spent most of yesterday at pool. So lovely.

Have decided not to buy anything as money found a more important home.

Very busy making up for time off so short and sweet.
