Another beautiful morning in London! I'm ridiculously excited about being able to hang washing outside for once - hmmm!

amber and portia thanks so much for BB experiences - I do have very thick hair so fingers crossed I'll get a good result. I'll let you know how it goes.

MiM sorry, a bit late to this, but that's terrible re coil! Can you put in a complaint? Perhaps it's not worth it, but what terrible practice!

Waving to all on their holidays!

So excited about the Olympics - most of my colleagues are naysayers - I'm going to get one of those event pull-outs and stick it on my wall!

MarshaBrady · 25/07/2012 08:12

Good pairing Suburban!

Fritzi it sounds lovely! (except sympathies on missing dd)

Amber I hope you have a chance to read Vogue in the garden or something today Smile

NY do you know which particular events you will be seeing, how does it work?

This is the colour block dress I bought, in celebration of the summer.

This is the first time I've heard of Jill Stuart and love this and this. Great length and colour.

Would love to find the last two as well.

darknessvisible · 25/07/2012 08:25

suburban loved the blog post too - I'm now considering getting the TS Mighty in brown, rather then the brown NL Cypress-alikes. However, I have fallen in love with these beauties. Could I, should I? How many black ankle boots do I need?

FritziGreenEyes · 25/07/2012 08:27

marsha Gorgeous dress and very you!

I'm in white shorts, navy west top and silver flip-flops today. a and 30 degrees. Will be stuck in a conference room most of the time all day

MidnightinMoscow · 25/07/2012 08:47

Lovely dress Marsha, had a peek at the other links - my goodness the model in the second is dreadfully thin isan't she?

Thanks for all the coil sympathy. I won't bother complaining darkness, as from my own experience it's rarely the person responsible that gets the workload of having to respond to a complaint. Love the contrast of those Pistols. Inspired post Suburban, the TS's ambush ones are excellent this year, given they are only £45.

Very excited about the Olympics too here - we have a list of all the nations competing (204) and are picking one to eat the cuisine on a Friday night. We are total saddo's aren't we?! DH has tickets for the football (GB) on Sunday.

Hopefully I might try and pop into TS later again today, so I'll get a picture for you if I do.

Another hot one here today, wearing stone coloured shorts, and feather print sleeveless peter pan blouse.

For anyone with toddler DS's - I have found a gem of clothing. H&M polo shirts come in sizes 2-4, which gives them a really good length...and they wash up brilliantly. DS is sporting his purple one today, and they are a bargain at £4.99.

Emo76 · 25/07/2012 08:52

I report in from Central London and the Olympic mayhem is well and truly underway - too many tourists disrupting my morning coffee run and the tube is already absolutely packed out. I'm excited to be here for the games but already a bit fed up with the disruption - some of us DO have to work you know..! repeat to self "once in a lifetime in my town" repeat to self

Wearing a red short sleeved shirt dress today, slightl 50s style, with black patent peep toe heels and mini gracie. feels good!

blossoming · 25/07/2012 09:00

It's not me emo! I'm waiting till rush hour is over before braving the tube! Your outfit sounds great. I'm wearing my pink outfit that I pinned.

suburban · 25/07/2012 09:12

Morning

Thanks always Thanks I love the contrast pistols too.

Marsha that dress is beautiful.

Am really enjoying the weather at the moment. Blonde half Irish DD has somehow managed to get herself a very passable tan. I think it's because whatever the weather she spends a lot of time outside but it's really interesting what Seventh says about diet.

Red busy day to realign the DCs today sounds like just the ticket. Just visiting relatives sounds stressful enough without any other problems added in. You sound like you are doing a fab job. Really hope you and DH will get some time to yourselves over the summer.

Will also try and pop into Topshop today Hopefully. I am most put out about all the teens being on holiday interupting my quiet weekday high street trawls.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/07/2012 09:26

mim I'm Shock at your coil experience. I'm far too squeamish to have one fitted.

bloss Have fun in London today. Love, love, love your pink hot summer's day outfit on Pin!

dona Don't know if you are reading the thread but I got my Kindle and the first book I read was The Cost of High Fashion. I found it a real page turner and made me think a lot about what I wear. DD asked me to show her how to use our sewing machine and she was thrilled to produce a little cotton bag from one of DH's old shirts Smile. I am determined to maintain and alter some of my clothes when I get back home.

red Forgot to say that I loved your FB pic showing you in your boho outfit. Your DD is gorgeous!

AmberNectarine · 25/07/2012 09:38

No such luck marsha am doing Legoland in 30 degree heat today! Am en route right now, bein tortured with Now 82 on the stereo (DH collects them, sigh) wearing Vince white vest, French Connection black and white star print flippy mini and rose gold Sam Edelmans. Gracie along for the ride.

I really rate H&M kids clothes MiM, DS's nursery wardrobe is almost exclusively from there. He's head to toe Boden today mind #mumsnetcliche.

The style/colour thing is funny, isn't it? On the one hand brilliant for focusing your mind while shopping, on the other a bit limiting in terms of the amount of 'right' garments there are out there. Or is hopefully just really fussy? Wink

Loving the boot talk. Am definitely making a boot investment purchase this winter, and am leaning towards the Marant Jennys, though have noticed the Dickers are out in leather this AW. Also holding a candle for the Balenciaga brogue boots, but they are £500+, so would be a big investment.

Off to Bicester tomorrow, squee!

NotSoGrumpy · 25/07/2012 09:44

darkness I love those boots, their on my A/W wishlist and every time I'm tempted to buy something I ask myself if I want it more than the pistols. suburban I really enjoyed your blog post (but still really want the pistols) I think they may be a back to work treat.

Well we went and saw the torch which was fun but we ended up with 2 very grumpy over tired DDs which was hard work. Still I'm glad we went.

Oh and thank you to mini nectarine and mini decam after hearing about the popularity of the pink fisher price handbag I bought it for DD2 for her birthday and she loves it. DH is slightly less keen and has made various sarcastic comments about gender stereotyping and whether our daughter needs a toy that says 'let's go shopping'.

Emo sorry to hear about the chaos, I'm not looking forward to returning to commuting. Love the description of your outfit.

Enjoy the sunshine, it's just lovely to be able to be outside, we had a fantastic day at Kew gardens on Monday and I'm thinking of taking the girls to the outdoor paddling pool today. Factor 50 all round for us as we're all very fair skinned (except DH)

MarshaBrady · 25/07/2012 10:06

How funny Amber I am in the process of booking Legoland with parents for October. Not sure whether to take 2.5 year old or just 7 yr old. Actually will do on a day he can make it.

Love the talk of the AW boot. Will have a ponder. They had Marant sneaker and Acne pistols in the ST (I think?), ahead of the curve on here.

MarshaBrady · 25/07/2012 10:08

And thanks for dress feedback Smile. It's winging it's way now, hope it's good!

notyummy · 25/07/2012 10:22

Morning all.

I can imagine that if you have to commute everyday then it will be a real pain but I am excited in a very uncool way. We are going away for the weekend but the hotel are having an Opening Ceremony party in the bar so I am sourcing red, white and blue outfits for us all! Will also be glued to the screen on Saturday afternoon for the end of the cycling road races.
Marsha - we are watching the first two of Jess Ennis' events, 100m and 400m sprint heats (male and female), Pole vault and steeple chase. Staying in the Olympic Park afterwards to watch gymnastics on the big screens and enjoy the atmosphere. I have researched which stations will be busiest, and walking routes if necessary. It is doable as it is only 4 miles from the flat we have been loaned to the Olympic Park.

Finally read the ST Style section last night and saw the the skinted/minted section...which was a face off between the Acne Pistols and NL version!

amber - I rate H and M childrens clothes too. Great prices, plain cotton and not too twee or logoed/glittery/festooned with cartoon characters.

Gorgeous weather in Lincolnshire but overcast here in Nottingham. Boo! Wearing last year's Zara leopard maxi skirt with fitted black tee and wooden heels.

Hopefully · 25/07/2012 10:42

Amber don't worry, I've always been massively fussy! but previously it resulted in a fairly limited and very disparate wardrobe, and now it results in a very limited but beautifully co-ordinated wardrobe Grin

Lovely here, wearing TS coral/beige striped maxi, TS sandals, big tortoiseshell sunnies and bikini underneath in preparation for garden playtime in a mo.

darknessvisible · 25/07/2012 11:12

NSG that's a good strategy. In that case, it has to be the Pistols - there's something about the contrast zip that makes them really special imo. However, this may delay the purchase of the black mini Alexa - will think on.

hopefully great outfit! The garden is calling me too, although I fear that I no longer fit into my bikini (massive norks alert). Should I/could I get away with my maternity bra and knickers (whilst working obv Blush)? I pity any curious neighbours...

I've just done a massive new season Mini Boden order for DS. It's so massive that I'm having it delivered to work so that I can sneak it past DH and bring it out gradually. I am also a fan of H&M kids and may take a look there tomorrow - I can always return Boden stuff...

Love the sound of that dinner SE. I am doing a scrambled egg and smoked haddock thing tonight but will have wholemeal toast included for carbs or DH will protest Grin. Did a favourite Waitrose receipe of mine on sunday - roast chicken on a bed of chorizo, tomato, red onion and peppers. Gorgeous and lots of yummy left overs. Just chop up veg and chorizo and stir in sweet paprika, then put chicken on top with some thyme stuffed inside. Put in the middle of the oven for requisite time - tah da! (added brocilli for colour on the plate.)

Hopefully · 25/07/2012 12:17

Ooh, uniqlo order has arrived. Quality looks good, hope shapes are nice when I try on later.

In other news, am unimpressed that matches order has not been dispatched yet, after ordering on Mon. For £8 delivery and a £500 order, I sort of expect next-day treatment.

Hopefully · 25/07/2012 12:33

I take it back, have just had dispatch email from matches. The magic of the W&A thread... Grin

suburban · 25/07/2012 13:42

sounds like you have really nailed summer dressing SE. I have not. Wore a grey marl tee to take DD for haircut/new shoes earlier and came home with some very fetching sweat patches Blush.

Passed these in the window or White Stuff Shock and might go back to investigate. Very similar to the JBrands I think Fritzi has thought could be good for winter.

Also in similar vein to H&M for boys. Have bought DD some amazing coloured jeans from Sainsburys. They are slim but not skinny, and unusually for girls trousers have no embroidered butterflies/faded patches/studs, just nice and plain. They also have that elastic and buttons in the waist band thing. I was so happy we went back for more and she now has 4 pairs.

Food sounds lovely NY

Finally a question for the Irish ladies. We are going to BiL's son's christening in Dublin soon and DP is Godfather. What would be an appropriate present? Is it like Irish weddings where you are expected to gift money? Or would something like cashmere blanket be more appropriate? DN is circa 4 months old.

Weather even lovely this far north toady. Yeah!!!! Although not as warm as in the south so red 811s rolled up, j crew white lace tee shirt, high heeled wedges.....it may not reach the heady short wearing temperatures ever here.

I was officially the parent all other parents hate in clarks this morning shooing all 3 children took nearly an hour.....many glaring parents and screaming children left queuing behind them. They clearly miss the early rising children that ensure one can be in town, parked and outside shops before they open.

Am now hoping for an afternoon lounging while I wait for the delivery lorry with my pink boots- 3.34-4.34. Although dd thinks she is spending it trying on her new school uniform! How long will that excitement last I wonder??

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/07/2012 14:02

hopefully the £8 delivery charge is the only thing I don't like about matches!
