Great to hear from you Icey.

Hope you are having a great time Dona I am ashamed to admit it, but I once owned those cropped trousers with the toggly bits. In my defence that was a few years ago. But they were hideous. I have a picture that DH took when we went to the Maldives when I wore them for travelling and whilst the pic brings back such happy memories (just about to board our sea plane for one of the most scenic flights of my life) the trousers definitely do not!!

Rufus - welcome back (despite being a non-sports fan. I will speak to you Grin Wink. I'm with you on some of the sports and the opening/closing ceremonies being a bit boring tbh. But I love the majority.). As a fellow pear I am now intrigued by the MD trousers - they look v nice and quite sensibly priced....but whats with that name? 'Sports Trousers?' Sounds like something out of Lazytown/Cbeebies.

Cloudy here but apparently sunshine later. Wearing silk patterned Inwear skirt with fitted white tee, blue blazer and Zara wooden heels. Trying to decide what to pack for the weekend that covers a party in a bar, a smart meal, a trip to a nature reserve and a trip to the 'City Riveria' here in Nottingham. Hmm.

Keep looking at the pictures of the torch bearers and getting ridiculously emotional. They all look so happy and the diverse, excited crowds in the background of the shots are fab. Amazing pic of a 24 triple amputee soldier walking with it yesterday looking so proud with massive support from the crowd. Gets me every time. There is a 5/6 minutes slide show of the various torch bearers all over the UK set to music/commentary on the BBC home page that should be used by the 'Visit Britain' tourist board, as it makes the country looks amazing.

Morning!

Dona glad Overdressed is good for you - I might treat myself to it to read while I am away training next week.

Shopbop order was not terribly exciting, but included a Vince tee which I love. The colour is wrong, but I will dye it a darker tan colour. The shape is perfect (which sounds silly for a plain crew neck, but I find shape matters even more with things like that). I also got two Splendid tops, this tank and this LS top. The long sleeve top is again a slightly 'soft' brown, but I'm only planning on it as a layering top, so I'm not really fussed. The piece de resistance was a watch. It is <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=la+mer+collections+watch&start=355&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1408&bih=846&tbm=isch&tbnid=tYGHEa57Y4P-aM:&imgrefurl=www.wetv.com/holiday-how-to-guide/galleries/womens-gift-guide/watch&docid=sE9cAX3uuNAocM&imgurl=www.wetv.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/watch-500x540.jpg&w=500&h=540&ei=bO4QUILLI6am0AWag4CQCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=497&vpy=294&dur=1372&hovh=233&hovw=216&tx=95&ty=107&sig=100456009390549136350&page=10&tbnh=150&tbnw=144&ndsp=42&ved=1t:429,r:28,s:355,i:366" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this one, but in <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=la+mer+collections+watch&start=268&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1408&bih=846&tbm=isch&tbnid=NT1Fx8nPJCmcHM:&imgrefurl=svpply.com/item/1117875/La_Mer_Collections_Arizona_Tobacco&docid=RMt944qLXgbspM&imgurl=s3.amazonaws.com/assets.svpply.com/large/1117875.jpg%253F1337113866&w=254&h=500&ei=bO4QUILLI6am0AWag4CQCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=693&vpy=363&dur=865&hovh=315&hovw=160&tx=101&ty=152&sig=100456009390549136350&page=8&tbnh=161&tbnw=82&ndsp=42&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:268,i:43" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this colour. I can't quite make up my mind about it. I do really like it, but the leather is really soft and I can see it will look tatty probably within a year. I am wondering whether to eat the insane return costs (losing the import duty, I think, so about £20 in total) and get the ubiquitous MK rose gold watch. It is boringly sensible though.

Uniqlo order is mixed. cashmere sweater in teal (no longer on website, for some reason) is ok, but I think probably a bit too cool toned. Also very definitely feels like budget cashmere (as I was expecting, for £80). I think I'll just wait for Brora sale again. The merino round neck is great, and a great colour, lovely fine knit. Keeper. Thanks for the tip, Red, it's a great cheapie alternative to the £1m Marant. The t-shirt is nice, but is that fine rib rather than flat jersey, and is a bit see through.

Leather trouser watch: showing as arrived at local DHL depot, so I am hoping they make it out onto a van today. Not looking forward to trying them on in the heat though (also having visions of Ross from Friends type scenario).

notyummy · 26/07/2012 08:36

I am on a 'non spending' period at the moment (apart from weekends away, bunting and foam hands - oh, and DHs birthday presents Hmm), but could be tempted by a couple of those Uniqlo merino tops you just linked to Hopefully. Great price. Thanks for the tip Red.

notyummy · 26/07/2012 08:38

Lastly - what's MD sizing like, anyone? Not got anything from there before now.

rufus101 · 26/07/2012 08:42

I remember when cropped trousers with toggles were actually considered fashionable. I used to try on constantly as I thought they were a great relaxed casual look! Thankfully cropped trousers l

ReineDeSaba · 26/07/2012 08:46

Morning!

Feel for everyone who has to negotiate TFL over the Olympic period.DH would have tried to work from home as also at CW but luckily we will be away for almost all of August.Am also annoyed to see that the rain will return next week so that will take some shine of our (not very exciting) tickets

Am heading out to a paddling pool sand play bit today.Am going to wear a lovely shift I picked up in Primark..black top with leopard skirt..very pleased with it,it's those small pleasures as annie would say!

annie I decided to hold fire on belt and look in the U.S.Need to save something to shop for!but thanks for link.

Gives ny stern look while stuffing own dodgy travelling trousers further into the back of wardrobe.

marsha lovely to be a member of that wonderful when the weather is so perfect.glad you had a terrific birthday.

Good to see you rufus ,I totally get the post hols blues too.We always plan our next trip while actually on holiday. In fact we haven't left yet and are already talking about Cuba for next Easter.Has anyone done it with children?would appreciate pointers.

After your travel talk m dreaming of New York having seen both Top Cat and Batman at the cinema recently but would love love love to visit Japan.

hopefully I'm shocked Matches don't do free delivery or upgrade for that kind of spend!

verity did the cookies work out ok? pickled Do it,it is great fun!

mim the perils of being a nurse Grin people love to open their mouths at me!

notgrumpy I love those boots..how do the Acne sizes come up?need them to go on the outnet!

DD2 is out of control.Tantrums galore and she is an energy ball so at least one accident a day.She fell down the back of the sofa yesterday!

Happy sunny days all.

rufus101 · 26/07/2012 08:50

Start again! Thankfully cropped trousers look bloody awful on me so i never ended up with a pair.
Have no idea why they are called Sports Trousers NY. They most certainly are NOT.
Great haul Hopefully. I like both watches but think the MK one has greater longevity. Looks much better quality also for daily wear. I really like it and have tried it on loads of times, but it just doesn't look right on me. Maybe try it on somewhere first.
Wave to Dona. Really enjoy your posts. I have tried to read Middlemarch so many times and I have failed. It will be on my reading list for next holiday. Have you read East of Eden? That's the original blockbuster I think!
Will try linking later to jacket MIM. On the iPhone at the mo.

MarshaBrady · 26/07/2012 08:57

Icey very lovely to see you! Yes bit hot for leather trousers today. Maybe tomorrow.

Choo yes! It's good fun. Dh uses it for work quite a lot, I just use it to relax. Have you been to the Miami or Berlin ones, are they nice? (we are quite tempted). Thank you for the Paris tip. Will pass on, not sure if booked yet.

Bloss it's this colour dress. But I have had a complete u-turn as it's just too big and the rather thick fabric doesn't work at the wrong size at all. I am being VERY strict in a Hopefully style manner. Am pleased really, as frees up for something else.

this is the one I really want. Looser, more relaxed, more me.

MarshaBrady · 26/07/2012 08:58

Thanks Reine Smile and yes big wave to Dona!

alwaysrunninginheels · 26/07/2012 09:03

Grin at donas description of trousers with toggles. Still sported by middle aged walkers here!

AmberNectarine · 26/07/2012 09:19

Bicester today!

Am wearing gap drapey sundress, TS neon sandals and green Gracie. DD wearing cobalt Breton sundress and gorgeously fat little bare feet.

Am a bit Blush today as gave the neighbour an eyeful of my in my oh-so-sexy white sleep bra and stripey pants as I was hanging out washing this morning. I imagine he'll dream of little else.

MiM that is crap CS from Matches, and I hope you get a result. I fired off a moody email about Raoul yesterday. It is so annoying, if you pay for premium you expect it to last longer than a Primark equivalent which would cost less than the fecking delivery charge

blossoming · 26/07/2012 10:08

Wow, both are fabulous marsha. Hard to make rational decisions in this heat though.
So glad to see you back rufus and icey. Was wondering where you both were only yesterday. And was thinking of you in Kew ants!
Do not envy anyone's commute from now on though.
Have got my hands on the new Bobbi Brown creme with SPF. And was given a very generous sized mascara sample. Worth being an early bird!

Hopefully · 26/07/2012 10:47

Amber what happened to Raoul?

Am spending the day making a blazer. Paying my sister for childcare is cheaper than any nice ones I can find, and even the nice ones are compromises.

alwaysrunninginheels · 26/07/2012 11:07

Yes amber what happened to it? Hope Bichester fab fun- how could it not be?

Love hearing about property lust- i must have the schedule of every 5 bed period house/farm house/ramshakle ruin sold in the last 12 years in perthshire in my cupboard as i create a "what i would have in my house that is yet to be built" file......DH shakes his head in fear frequently and came home just a couple of weeks ago after i visited the builder who built our dental practice to put feelers out for land for sale with questions about what i had been up to. Although in all fairness he may have grounds for worry as i did let him head to work one day and when he came home i had bought a house.......Grin But kew sounds lovely!

MidnightinMoscow · 26/07/2012 11:12

Having to walk three streets to get home, with 2 big shopping bags and 2 DC's in the blazing heat - hideous. I need to learn to reverse park!!

What happen to the Raoul? Have a fab day Amber.

Please report back on the SPF cream Bloss, am on the look out for a good one at the moment, as touch wood, my skin is much better lately.

AmberNectarine · 26/07/2012 11:14

Nothing drastic, the lining has just split at the seams so all my bits are getting lost in the depths. It has been used a maximum of half a dozen times Hmm

Hopefully · 26/07/2012 11:20

Rubbish. I hate it when designer items basically rely on the fact that most people who buy them are so bloody rich that they don't use things often enough for finish quality to matter.

Just popped to shop to buy two spools of thread and came back with about three yards of fabric (and thread, at least).

Emo76 · 26/07/2012 11:37

Olympic Update - I have just been sent an Opening Ceremony Drinking Game - I particularly like ?flame goes out or massive technical error? = finish drink.

that's v poor re the Raoul Amber.

choo that Joseph dress looks gorgeous - I am not surprised it's a hit!

Big wave to all

alwaysrunninginheels · 26/07/2012 11:39

That really isnt good enough amber. Will matches take it back?

MarshaBrady · 26/07/2012 11:39

Have interrupted working (at home) day to watch Olympic torch go past at end of our road with ds. Good fun isn't it.

Amber have a good time in Bicester.

Hopefully great shop bop stuff. Love Vince tees.

Thanks Bloss!

FritziGreenEyes · 26/07/2012 11:53
