Hair looks fabulous Red. I am currently using this and am very impressed so far.

Love that DVF Decam, although I trust you'll not be wearing popsocks with it? Smile

Hopefully - couldn't take a picture, but have found a link to the blazer. I think it might be too cool toned for you though. here

Sorry to hear that the tube/commute is hellish Emo for you at the moment.

I am in a grump with Matches. I returned the red 811's, as they bag dreadfully within an hour of wearing. I had to prompt them to confirm whether they received them and then got a response today saying that the fault is the nature of the jeans and that they are sorry I am disappointed with them. Well, that doesn't make them wearable for me and I cannot believe they would be happy with a customer being disappointed. Have replied saying that I am not happy, would like them to reconsider, etc.

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/07/2012 21:00

MIM - I chucked my white 811's the other day as had lost shape dreadfully and I wash them very carefully.

Petit - so lovely to see you again - I'd missed you and worried your pre-christmas shopping ban was still in place but news of Chanel bags has cheered me.

Dec- thanks! She had a lovely day and at 6pm I asked what had been the best bit of her birthday to be told 'its still my birthday mummy' in a very stern voice.

Red - I love your hair! You are soooo pretty.

Russianred · 25/07/2012 21:04

Thank you MrsCB - did you get my PM about meeting? DDs birthday pictures looked amazing - so idyllic!

Oh I love London! Picked out a lovely house to buy today in Kew till decam pointed out I'd need a few million. Wow. And I wanted the whole package, farrow & ball paint and Mini in the drive. Thought the Jago scarf was Kew garden appropriate, dd in Boden strawberry dress. DS self-dressed Hmm.
Lovely to see decam and her gorgeous girls. Loved the Me&Em and the glads, and the AH.
Have walked over Waterloo bridge (?) to Covent Garden, around my old haunts, back over Westminster bridge. So rare to not need a jacket.
Get a morning to myself tomorrow. Woohoo!
Love the hair red, and I love Zooey. Have you seen 500? Days of summer?
I've forgotten what else... Relink your dress marsha,, or pin it?

Russianred · 25/07/2012 21:13

I have seen 500 days, I also am quite into New Girl. She's a big style crush for me, actually. Kew would certainly be a nice spot to live! Enjoy your time tomorrow morning - what's on the agenda? Whistles?!

OP posts:
blossoming · 25/07/2012 21:27

I am holding ny personally to blame for my rash decision to hold an Olympic party for DS and his friend who's coming to play on Friday (and not the two large wines..)

blossoming · 25/07/2012 21:28

I don't have much time red, so possibly just JL and Selfridges for bags. Need more options on my board!

NotSoGrumpy · 25/07/2012 21:28

Red fabulous hair and you are so pretty. I'm still struggling with bad hair post DD2, regrowth is now an inch or so and looks awful.

bloss and decam what a great day, I love kew gardens and kew is top of my list of places to relocate to when I win the lottery. We had a great day at kew on Monday, DD1 tracked down the face painters and was one of their first customers.

DH (who falls into GoS's category 3-self employed people who never switch off) decided to take a few hours off today and came to the outdoor paddling pool with us. Very busy but fun. Lots of mums of all shapes and sizes there in bikinis, I really should relax and stop having so many hang ups about how I look.

NotSoGrumpy · 25/07/2012 21:36

Oh and I many have found a pair of boots I like more than the pistols, I've been looking for some grey boots for ages.

notyummy · 25/07/2012 21:37

Bloss- I have just ordered a mammoth Team GB flag, bunting and a big foam hand. And I have had no wine Blush...

Decameron · 25/07/2012 21:40

I would be happy with Putney, Kew, Richmond or a big house in Barnes Grin.

Friday sounds like fun, Bloss. DH is impressed with the crayon holders you made.

I have that too, NSG, it drives me nuts. Almost considering a hairband. At least it is growing. I'm sure you have a lovely figure.

I'm thinking no to the popsocks, MiM. That's annoying about your jeans. Have House of Fraser replaced your Gracie bag?

suburban · 25/07/2012 21:41

Oh your hair looks lovely Red that's what I aspire for mine to look like but never ever manage to get it right. New Girl great for you because you are a teacher too!

Thanks for the reassurance Deacmeron\Verity makes a mental note to have DDs first communion in Kerry Grin. Actually Just spoke to SIL and she said they are going to start weaning soon so I thought perhaps we could get him some nice crockery. Any suggestions? Dd has some nice bunnykins stuff.

Great sounding days, especially the London ones. Am going to brave the outdoor pool with dd tomorrow

CHOOGIRL · 25/07/2012 21:55

Welcome to London Bloss we're having fabulous weather, but the place is heaving at the moment. We have the torch in the City tomorrow, not sure if you'll still be around to have a look.

The sun is bringing out a multitude of fashion. I saw a girl in black boots and opaques today which made a change from the barely there dresses and flip flops.

NY I've got tickets for athletics too and DD is v excited about seeing Usain. Our events sound similar to yours, are you going on Friday 10th?

Marsha I didn't realise you were a member of the houses too. I've got breakfast at Dean St Townhouse tomorrow assuming I can get there through the Olympic traffic.

Not sure if you've booked Paris yet. I've stayed at George V a few times and it is good but beware the extras bill ?8 for diet coke anyone? Next time I may try the Mandarin Oriental. I really rate that chain and my stay in NY was fabulous.

gos/Hopefully pulled an hot Italian in the lift at Waitrose Canary Wharf whilst wearing my Joseph dress so would definitely recommend Wink

blossoming · 25/07/2012 22:01

We have a gorgeous Hungry Caterpillar porcelain cup surburban. Don't all kids love that? It was given ti us with the puppet book. Lovely gift.
Much quieter here tonight. DH was doing the 'any more noise and we're going home' routine last night. It is all dd, such a trouble maker. Youngest child syndrome!
Thanks Mr decam! DH was talking to his colleague about us going to Kew and his colleague said, 'mmm expensive for drinks', as it was, DH said, would be more expensive if it was raining and they'd gone shopping! Too true.
Great shopping ny!

blossoming · 25/07/2012 22:02

Need a link to that Joseph dress choo Wink

notyummy · 25/07/2012 22:06

Choo- we're a whole week earlier than that! Dd is most excited about seeing the pole vaulting!!

IceCreamCastles · 25/07/2012 22:09

Evening all,

Love the new thread title red and your hair looks great- fringe really suits you. Mine is at the post pregnancy blocking the shower phase at the moment.

Have been AWOL again as we have been having more work done on the house. We are now minus a garage but plus a spare bedroom/playroom/study. Also had the downstairs loo made into shower room for guests so have been busy sorting out workmen and flirting with the plumber

Am v excited about Olympics. Going to watch tennis next Monday with my mum and have tickets for the Olympic park next wed for me, dh and dcs.

In fashion news I have purchased a top with moustaches on as dd liked it so much Grin

Got all excited marsha's pistol link- bloody lurkers!

Hopefully/Pickled-I can't think about leather trousers without thinking of that friends episode where Ross gets his stuck to his legs Grin

Hope everyone's well and enjoying the summer holidays and sunshine.

rufus101 · 25/07/2012 22:19

Hi everyone. Been AWOL for a while. Back from my hols last week (which were of course highly enjoyable) and totally dejected. S'funny. I always feel now after holiday "well, that's it. Another WHOLE year to 2 weeks of sun" (Yes. I do realise. A first world problem!)
Have been keeping up with thread, but not posting.(Obv)
Had wifi on hols, so was highly entertained by MIM's DH giving her "the look". Ah yes. The look. I might as well run for the hills when my DH gives me "the look", there is no stopping him! Poor you and the coil. Ouch. I keep intending to get fitted, and like Amber fly by the seat of my pants. I'm relying on biology not producing eggs. (I do realise this is not very grown up and I could get a massive kick in the pants)
Fabulous dress Decam, can really see you in it.
Re christening Suburban, anything goes really. I didn't expect anything from people I invited to our christenings, as I felt they had been so generous with presents when DC were born. Of course inevitably people brought gifts. I think, things like nice picture frames are lovely. I remember someone brought a lovely big bunch of flowers, and I have now tended to replicate that for christenings. It seems to go down well!
Sounds like a lovely few days in London Bloss, and your outfits sound equally lovely.
Grumpy LOVE those boots. I still haven't worn my black pistols. (they are hiding under the bed from DH) I managed to squeeze into a pair of 36's and now wonder if I should try to ebay the 37s (even though I've never ebayed anything before) I contine to dither.
Red your new haircut is beautiful. You look amazing and very like Zooey. Have you seen those new hair powders? I find them great. I have very fine hair, and it really does give a root lift, and even if I am putting my hair into a pony now, I use it to give me "grip".
Hopefully, hope you find some wordrobe essentials soon. I really admire that you are so focused on exactly what you want. No errors in your wardrobe.
In personal style news!
Bought this Massimo Duti leather jacket when I was on holiday. Really like it, even though I would have thought it was too classic for my style. Maybe I'm a classic really. Got a really nice pair of very slim fitting white/off white trouser there as well. Can't find them on the web site, but they are new stock. They are more of a jean fabric but are very smart, and extremely flattering on my pear bottom. If you see them try them on. They have these very clever lines of fabric cut into the leg, which draw the eye along and make your thighs look slimmer I may be deluding myself Ooh! I just found them in black! I am going to definitely try them on, as if they are flattering in white, I shall look postively twig like in black!
Have a confession.
I find the Olympics a large yawn. Always have. Used to dread it, when I was a child, as we had limited tv channels, so it seemed as if there was nothing on tv for weeks on end. At least I have more viewing options now!
Better go. DH demanding my attention. No. Not "the look!" Think it's just conversation!

rufus101 · 25/07/2012 22:24

Oh, and I loved that Joseph dress that you linked to and hope you get it Annie, and welcome back Petit. I was wondering how you were. Very envious of the the Chanel bag.
Hope Dolcee is just on her hols and all is well.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/07/2012 23:16

Lying on my bed, head spinning after too much wine and twelve hours of writing today...

Refuse to engage in any talk about boots or leather trousers. It was 30 degrees here today! Love hot summer weather.

Can I just ask for clarification (and to expand my vocabulary): "flying by the pants of my seat" means no protection whatsoever? I'm purely asking from a linguistic point of view Wink

icey mwah, we miss you lots here!!!!

CHOOGIRL · 25/07/2012 23:36

Fritz it's "flying by the seat of your pants" means that you are unprepared and using your instincts.

AmberNectarine · 26/07/2012 07:27

Yes, fritzi in my case it means constantly breastfeeding and hoping for the best. I be fair, I have used the 'rhythm method' successfully, it only goes wrong when you have a few too many vinos and get a bit reckless. Hello DD!

DonaAna · 26/07/2012 07:29

A quick hello to Fritzi (on hols even further north at MiL'a in style hell - faded flappy bootcuts are the trendy and modern alternative here - everyone wears cropped trousers with the toggly bits). Yes I loved Overdressed and hope it will have lasting effects. Have repaired one torn dress and thrifted two jackets. Thinking of repurposing old skirts when I go back home. Love the thrifted jacket - 100% cotton and the softest, comfiest jersey lining ever!

I'm w/o iPad here - taking a vacation from the computer. Have read a lot and knitted 2 pairs of socks (this would be the perfect time and place to reread Middlemarch) - so cannot keep up w/ the thread. But MiM start a Matches complaint thread!

Happy that most of you get to enjoy warm weather. We do too, DC are playing in an outdoor pool. Living in my Marant and Havaianas.

MidnightinMoscow · 26/07/2012 08:15

Morning all.

Dona, I'll see what their response is, but not impressed at the moment. Glad you are having a good time.

Rufus sounds like a good holiday, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit dejected since home. Your link to the jacket doesn't work though, would love to see it.

MrsCB meant to say that your pictures of DD's birthday were lovely, fabulous views and I love her change of outfits. Smile Annoying about your 811's too. I really wouldn't mind if they were a high street pair.

Yes Decam Gracie is at the menders, HoF were great about it - no quibbles at all.

Icey sounds like you are making great progress with your work. No flirting here, our joiner has found out I am a nurse, from the books on our bookcase and so asks me for a consultation every morning regarding some sort of aliment. He is 64. Zero flirting whatsoever.

Weather turns tomorrow here, so making the most of the last day of sunshine for a while.

AntPants1 · 26/07/2012 08:20

Quick wave from the pool. Loving all the talk of Kew. Am Kew born and bred. Am feeling all nostalgic. Am vering between ny and emo on the Olympics. Have some tickets so really looking forward to going but work in canary wharf so travel to work will be horrendous. Am dreading it. Loving all the boot talk but too bit to really concentrate on it all. Also the cost! Need an amber style miracle!!!
