Amber no. Really no.

Ants how exciting! Let us know how you're feeling after next consultant appt.

I am contemplating buying some glycolic/salicylic acid. My congested skin/adult acne/fine lines combo is really beginning to piss me off, and just playing around with skin care doesn't seem to be hitting the spot (bah boom cha). NY didn't you try it? Any thoughts? Was it good? Am eating pretty cleanly, looking after skin, drinking plenty of water and taking agnus castus to try to even out hormones. Stupid skin. Have day with skin are specialist lady tomorrow For training - maybe she will have some tips Smile.

Bloss ditto re fashion mags. Pinterest is awesome for inspiration, and also for finding labels in between h&m/Topshop and stupid Gucci/Chanel prices.

Ollie love that scarf, so not my colours, but rather cool.

SE so camping trip didn't result in weaning? Maybe training will do it. I haven't tried the serum, but didn't find tri-enzyme did anything for me. Have always had über-greasy skin really, have never found the perfect solution. Sigh.

Ants sounds like a good standard size to go for. I'm a 30dd, which gives me pretty much the boob mass of a 34c (iykwim), and apart from the comedy sagginess, I've got no complaints Grin

psyching myself up for another week of information overload. So exciting and knackering at the same time.

Just watched 100m, exciting in a predictable sort of way Grin

blossoming · 05/08/2012 22:04

We can swap tops then ants! I am 34 C in some brands!

AntPants1 · 05/08/2012 22:20

Yep bloss just need to get rid of paunch which will be revealed in all it's glory once these beauties are dealt with. Oh well one step at a time!!

Just watched doc on iplayer on the Amish. What a lovely family.

blossoming · 05/08/2012 22:41

DH loves the boots. I'll just get them, won't tell him what they cost, buy nothing else...

MarshaBrady · 05/08/2012 22:49

Bloss where do you buy them? Very nice.

Ants great news and lovely post.

Ollie nice Zara shopping.

Loved Usain Bolt's win.

blue2711 · 05/08/2012 22:52

Such a busy few days! Just had a lovely long read.

Wonderful 24hrs in London with DH (SE having a break from my darling DC is a real treat!). Adored the Charlotte St Hotel and strolling around my old stomping ground (was at uni at UCL). Sun shone throughout and the atmosphere in central London was great: so happy and buzzy. Early dinner with dear friends and then the fun of the beach volleyball. Like ants I was awed and proud by how slick and also friendly all the organisation and security were. Felt proud to be British!

Fab night of Olympics watching on sofa. Love the beautiful Jess Ennis and Mo ( he's a friend of a friend and is lovely).

Today DS's party. Exhausting but success I think. Rain held off long enough for bouncy castle antics thankfully. Felt comfy but good in peppermint skinnies and leopard 'silk' shell top. A very stylish friend wore grey CE star skinnies with coral silk vest and looked fab.

Funeral for friend's DM tomorrow, dreading it.

blue2711 · 05/08/2012 22:59

amber! my eyes!
Bit upset about the thought of eagles dona... Leather leggings still top of my wish list so will try and banish the idea...
Gorgeous colours for holiday wardrobe bloss.
Training sounds amazing hopefully.
28/30 A cups here. Needless to say I live in deeply unsexy padded bras. Oh well.
I am currently dithering between ebaying lots or just getting rid! I do actually like to be surrounded by lovely things but only things that I really do find beautiful or useful.
Hello to everyone else.

AmberNectarine · 05/08/2012 23:13

50 listings, what a slog. Better be worth it...

bretonbee · 05/08/2012 23:28

hello, loving the Olympics here too. So so proud of Team GB, wonderful. Went to watch the women's triathlon on Sat with DS and off to the show jumping tomorrow at Greenwich. Even more excited after ants wonderful description of it.

blue so sorry about your friend's DM and lots of strength for tomorrow. I went to my best friend's DF funeral this time last year and was so so glad that I did. She was trying so hard to be strong for her DM and her family that having someone there to really support her was important and I'm sure your friend will feel the same way.

hopefully I had a GA peel recently as part of a facial (at bliss spa) and was impressed - I got some home ones too that they recommended and they are good too. My skin is very dry though so different issues but it is very smooth now and much more vibrant, I feel like I've not needed to wear as much make up since.

nice Zara shopping ladies...I was temporarily distraught because my local one closed down but I now see that it is only being refurbished phew!

DonaAna · 06/08/2012 07:51

Just managed to get out of an all-day trip to an amusement park by reminding that DD2 is still in her terrible 2s. Easy, as woke up to DH yelling and DD2 screaming - DD2 will only eat from very specific plates and her preferences change daily Hmm So DH went with DD2 and I'll have the day to myself with just one child in tow...

Blue definitely try on the leather leggings - my main problem is that they don't fit right, as they accentuate my parsnip shape (very slim calves, substantial hips). Saw some lovely leather legging pics on Pin, will repin.

Read Elle last night, a waste of time snd money. The issue was full of street style pics I've seen eons ago. Also they were trying quite unsuccessfully to give high street tips (one page if this thread is a lot better than their entire mag). They had a very unsatisfying 'how to wear peplum tops' feature - I don't need words, I need pics! Love the peplum trend, it's perfect for my slightly boxy short torso - elongates and shapes beautifully.

In fact a few friends work for glossies and the say blogs and social media are slowly killing off mags - they are not able to keep up and crowdsource in the same way. Mags are also incredibly tied up with advertising - Makeupalley will tell if a product doesn't work, magazine editors are not allowed to. A friend wanted to write a story about the hottest up-and-coming indie parfumeur who is a huge blogosphere hit but is not allowed to - she can only write junk about some new trashy celebrity perfumes their biggest advertiser is releasing.

Zara is clearly having some great stuff right now - love Ollie's scarf! I love their trendy things, only wish I could find more silk and cotton there.

OllieinOrange · 06/08/2012 08:04

Blue thinking of you today - hope it goes as well as these things can. Sure just being there will be a tremendous support to your friend. Interesting re the magazines v blogs.

Bloss those boots are works of art. You have been looking for some for ages haven't you. Buy!

Meeting DH at a Mini garage later to look at a mini. I think it may be 'the one'.

Just have to get through a visit to a local natural history museum with DSs first - they have a new dino skeleton. Have visions of my 2 touching it and the whole thing crashing down. Rufus last time we were there I lost DS2 who was hiding behind a bloody lifesize rhino. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

blossoming · 06/08/2012 08:25

I know ollie. Perfect for the slightly rough path between my house and town and for walks by the lake. There comes a time every year when I just wear snow boots and I want to move away from that. They are very pricey though. Don't want to link just yet in case they sell out in my size [ paranoid]

MarshaBrady · 06/08/2012 08:46

Very interesting Dona. Magazines are so expensive to create. The only thing that is good for them is that adverts do look better in print. I wonder how long it will be sustained.

Blue thinking of you today.

Breton I have loved team GB. Particularly Mo and Jess.

Dauphin · 06/08/2012 09:22

Well hello! Just back from almost 3 weeks in south west France..such lovely weather... ahem 38 degrees on one day (sorry!)... was quite restful, despite 3 children in tow, (am I the only one who loves beach holidays but hates the combination of sand and DCs continuously staggering all over the towels???). DCs, oblivious to this matter, had a ball.

Stayed in lovely blue shuttered typical french house, and spent most days on beach bar couple of visits to Cognac and Bordeau.

Was really pleased as packed lightly but well...wore new Heidi Klein black cossie which is lovely, and Seafolly navy bandeau bikini. Lots of throw on linen dresses in white and muted shades, sparkly jewellery and Chanel sunnies and good to go.

Have had no time to catch up so hope everyone well and dandy. Will read properly now.

We are moving house (to another rental), as work starting on this house and ware starting our project. Dad starting chemo....he's been a positive little soul, so fingers crossed....that's all the news from me.

Have ordered the Lily in Ink Decam....perfect going out bag. Have also ordered the Dorset as so useful I should imagine. Need new boots for winter - tempted by Pistols, but probably want flatter..hmmmm....decisions...

Dauphin · 06/08/2012 09:24

Oh, and so so proud to be British! What an amazing Olympics we are having!!!

DonaAna · 06/08/2012 09:31

Thinking of you Blue today!
Marsha British Vogue is still worthwhile for me - the rest so-so (still enjoy well written pieces when too tired for anything else). Most of us buy things in Zara - how often do you see clothes from Zara mentioned in mags (very rarely if ever here because they don't advertise). Many of the mags also style outfits in eclectic fashion editor style that cannot be translated to everyday wear - and I cannot wear outfits like that even to parties (more conservative outfits are the norm).

Bloss good boots are a good investment. Still haven't found mine. Need the impossible: flat, rubber tread soles, tall, narrow calves. Oh and preferably warm and waterproof as well and of course glam Wink

Thinking the Burberry peacoat might my big investment this AW.

Looking at my wardrobe, it's quite a mix. The city where I live definitely influences my style, even trumping my natural preferences. This might explain some of the style schizophrenia

NYC - black, Brooklyn indie quirky, outlet mishmash (very few things left from that era, have gained weight)
Brazil - sporty during day, very elegant at night (permatanned legs looked very good in khaki and denim skirts; 20 sleeveless maternity cocktail dresses)
Nordic - bright colors, simple shapes, practical detailing (miserable weather; Goretex, wellies, 3 pairs of mum boots Wink, twinsets for layers of warmth, two fur coats, two Icelandic sweaters, mufflers and mittens)
Rome - more classic, feminine, romantic, luxurious.

Still confused about my real style personality is Grin

MidnightinMoscow · 06/08/2012 09:32

Morning.

Agree Bloss, they are perfect for you and I do remember that you end up in snow boots for large parts of the winter. So, a very wise buy.

Ollie, I love that scarf - will do a trip to Zara after payday this month. That jacket is great too and glad you got the heels - they are a great buy.

Let us know how your Sister gets on Ants, and good luck for your consultation. I did work in the Theatres of the Harley Street Clinic for a while and we did a lot of reductions - PM me if I can help in any way.

SE don't feel guilty, it's called self preservation. If there is anyone who deserves a bit of me time, it's you.

Dona good work on avoiding the theme park. Smile

Thinking of you Blue today - I hope the funeral goes as well as these things can.

Hopefully try Thomas Pink for crisp shirts.

I am doing a longish drive tomorrow to Winchester to see a friend, don't suppose anyone knows of somewhere to park that has lots of room?

pickledsiblings · 06/08/2012 09:34

Morning Everyone.

Ants, I absolutely adored your 'piece' on the Olympics - worthy of a much wider audience than MN, surely. I think you should submit it to the letters page of your fav newspaper .

Ollie, I have been contemplating a Mini for months now - they are really lovely aren't they? What colour will you go for?

Blue, sending you and your friend strength for today.

Gotta run, Orthodontist apt for DD - she so doesn't want to have braces but I fear she's going to need them...

Decameron · 06/08/2012 09:44

Dauphin, welcome back, I was wondering where you were. Hope your father's treatment goes well. I am sure you are a great support to him. I like the Lily a lot, also was having a look at the Dorset tote and it's on my list. What colour did you order? I went off the pistols for day, I don't think I'd wear high heels every day (well, I would at work but not home with a baby) as I am already tall although they are comfortable.

Bloss, those boots are fab.

Rufus and Ollie, lovely Zara buys.

Hope you had a nice dinner, Pickled. At least yours are beyond the food flinging stage!

Interesting about the magazines. I must cancel a few subscriptions, I just flick through them now.

DD1 calls team GB team Bee Gees. :) She's only 4.

Usain Bolt is such a character! Ants, totally agree about US immigration officers. My dad was even detained by them for a day as a suspected terrorist, they took away his passport and refused to allow him any calls. He's an accountant in his sixties!

Escaped for a few hours on my own on Saturday and bought this top from the WC. Maje have great leather leggings, I like a lot of their new stuff. I ordered the DvF Linda wrap dress in the raspberry as I had a 10% discount for Bloomingdales and that's the only colour they had left. Also going to order this [http://www.shopbop.com/cowl-neck-pullover-dkny/vp/v=1/845524441947163.htm?folderID=2534374302067572&fm=browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=43288 DKNY]] sweater if my friend doesn't mind bringing it back from the US. It's sold out here in my size.

MidnightinMoscow · 06/08/2012 09:53

Holiday sounds wonderful Dauphin, do hope your Dad's treatment goes well for him too.

Decam that's a lovely top from WC.

MIL is coming to stay on Thursday. I am tempted to see if I can wangle a day on my own on Friday, hoping she will enjoy spending some time with DD. DS is in nursery so it wouldn't be too difficult. Fingers crossed. I fancy a trip to Westfield to Zara and to check out a few bits in Cos.
