Hi all!

Red- well done to your DH. Really hope that he gets the help he needs.

Welcome Darkness!

Good to hear from you GOS. Things a bit tense chez NY too. Just too much to do. Rushing around at weekends etc as well as durn g the week. Should ease slightly next week.

What to wear. Hosting dinner party for some if the people who work for DH. Dress is 'casual', but this is military officer casual.... So no jeans; short skirts etc. Maxi offers tripping potential as I sashay around cooking and hostessing. Ideas...?

Your lace skirt ny? Maybe with a plain tee to dress it down a bit?

Decameron · 11/07/2012 13:32

I am ENFJ, a natural cheerleader apparently, Hmm I have done the tests before and it's pretty accurate, I think. No idea what HOC clothing style I would have.

Glad you had a good night, Red and fair play to your DH for going back to the GP. You sound very supportive (unlike me, this morning I told Dh I was bored of hearing about work any more and he'd better book some time off work soon. He agreed with me, surprisingly).

I tried the Whistles animal print skinnies, almost bought them but they are too cropped on me (got to think about AW, don't you know!). I also went into Matches this morning but couldn't go downstairs to the sale section as I had DD2 with me, so only came home with a Bobbi Brown eyeshadow. I keep telling DH to remind me to save for all the things I want for winter. He just laughs.

MiM, great the driving is going well.

Amber, can only echo that you are gorgeous.

Darkness, congratulations. My baby has the same first name as you, I love it!

Kaloo, I like the coat but maybe a bit wedding-y?

I like the shoes, Ollie. I can't see it on their website but I tried on a lovely black sequin sweater in Whistles this morning.

Bloss, hope you are having a good day in Chester.

Fritzi, happy holidays!

Decameron · 11/07/2012 13:33

Yes, NY, the lace skirt sounds perfect.

suburban · 11/07/2012 13:33

Afternoon,

Yay Blue glad my twitter tip worked. Has inspired me to reinvigorate my languishing account.

I don't really have too many hangups about my body which is good because it makes room for all my many other anxieties. I know Dona and I bang on about it a lot but the French Women book is a really good read about learning to love food. Like Hopefully I am a bit obsessed with nutrition at the moment and food origins at the moment. It's such a cliche but I just feel so much better when I am eating well.

So glad your DH is turning a corner Red very brave of him. Don't forget to make some time for yourself (not just on the 28th Wink) as well.

Such a shame about your toe hopefully could you treat yourself to some new sandals to accomodate bandages and spruce up the Me&Em (not that it needs sprucing) on Saturday. Still lots of Gigis on sale.

Decameron · 11/07/2012 13:34

I'm bored of hearing about work. Full stop not any more!

suburban · 11/07/2012 13:43

cross posts, Decameron you have my sympathies. DP announced last night he is going to have to work everyday between now and the Olympics and that he hasn't yet booked the time off for our Italy trip in September, sob.

MidnightinMoscow · 11/07/2012 13:46

Raining again.

Those boots are pretty Ollie, suspect you'll need a very toned down outfit with them though!

Sequin jumper sounds good Decam. I am hankering after a slouchy one for this AW, as I have a fantasy of wearing in with a leather skirt, black opaques and shoe boots. Its so easy to think of AW clothes with this weather. I need to get some good tights this year. Sick of M&S 'crutch above my knees' situation, but find Falke ladder easily.

Glad your DH agreed he needs some time off Decam. I'd say you are very supportive - given you hold the fort 99% of the time!

blue2711 · 11/07/2012 13:48

I am the same as you mim ESFP - whatever that means! Will try and read up later. Never that sure about my answers to some of these types of questions though - depends what mood I'm in sometimes!

The whistles skinnies are lovely and thick, stretchy and tight fitting. Very flattering, I think. Pretty cropped (though not on me obviously!) - bet they're about 29inch length. Run true to size, well same as my CEs and J Brands. Go for it!

Still smiling at mrscb thinking of me being like Alexa Chung.. Sadly, I am nothing like her really except the skinny legs, flat chest and love of the Alexa bag. But thank you!

Nice lace coat but think the lace coats at Zara (think they're in the sale) are but less wedding-y. I loved them but couldn't think how or where I'd wear them.

Would you believe I'm agonising over what to wear to pick up my new car? I want classy not WAG-y!

Decameron · 11/07/2012 13:52

I'd like a leather skirt too, MiM. I had a great one years ago but gave it away for some stupid reason.

Sorry to hear that, Suburban. What really annoyed me is that he didn't book Friday off like he said he would. It is bring your dad to school day at DD1's nursery and it would have been nice for her if he went. We hadn't told her that he would go so she's not upset but I hope she is not the only one not to have her father with her.

Ooh, have had a lovely day, and got home to my NaP order.
Look away now notyummy, but this maxi is lush! A bit long, will have to shorten, but perfect fit and colours for me. And looks great with Roxy. Have a few daytime things coming up over the holidays and it will be just the ticket.
The Splendid dresses I linked to are both not right, but worth a go.
I got myself some lovely sandals from R&B. They're called twister and they even looked okay on my feet, so big success there. The Joules dress I pinned yesterday was excruciatingly awful on me. I bought a new Zara blazer to replace my old one - just plain black. The department store had had a revamp and had eyebrow threading, and did a good job. Got a new lipstick from Bobbi Brown that will be good for the beach, as it's very natural. Called Rose Petal. And went to try on the black converse lo-tops with my j brand leggings, and decided they looked good enough to be running around with dcs when we break up. Love days like this!

girlsofsummer · 11/07/2012 14:46

NY knee length dress that is wow but not "triying too hard" and can work with bare feet (if you can get away with it) with some bling earrings.

darknessvisible · 11/07/2012 14:47

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Dona I'm loving your boards - v. inspirational!

Decameron Thanks, I've always liked my name Blush as I was always the only one at school/uni/work with it. DH and I have already started arguing about names for this one ? I suggest lots, he says to no to everything and doesn?t offer any alternatives Hmm.

MiM I?ve shamefacedly amended my note to that AH pin as I was unable to resist the cobalt mini Gracie for my holidays ? I clearly didn?t like that beach bag enough Hmm.

Seventh I really do need some maternity sartorial advice/inspiration. I am at that annoying stage where I still look fat (or fatter) rather than pregnant. I ordered lots of things from Isabella Oliver but they?re huge; I can?t work out whether I?ll get that big or whether I need to reorder in a smaller size!

I might just stick to bags for the time being ? I?m eyeing up the ones on Bloss? boards!

Sorry for the mammoth post!

AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 14:54

Darkness - size down in IO, they are huge. I wore my size 1s until d-day and I am usually a size 10, 8 only on a v good day or in Gap :)

Sun actually shining! So nice to just release DS into the garden and get some stuff done round the house, instead of constantly having to devise 'entertainment'. DD a lot less clingy now she's finally mobile. How's the DS2 situation, hopefully?

girlsofsummer · 11/07/2012 14:57

Snap Decam I got a ENFJ too. Found it hard to answer a lot of questions I am quite inconsistent in my approach to things I think!

AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 14:57

Also wanted to say a big thank you to decam for the sterling 1st birthday present advice. DD loves her handbag and tea-set! She hasn't had a look in on the toy buggy though, as DS has comandeered that for the transportation of his Lightning McQueen.

AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 15:00

And sympathies darkness, re. name issue. That was my DH's approach. I would sit there reciting a book of 7,000 names and the only girl's name he liked was Jessica, which we couldn't have as his c

AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 15:02

Oops... Couldn't have as his cousin had named her DD that, which was helpful of him. I had to literally harangue him to accept our DDs name, which he maintained was 'too middle class' (wtf?). If there is one reason I won't have a DC3 it will be the name battle.

darknessvisible · 11/07/2012 15:07

Amber It's so frustrating, isn't it? Mine maintains he only likes one boy's name which we used for DS. He's more accommodating with girls' names than boys' actually. I think it's something to do with going to a boy's boarding school and imagining every conceivable teasing opportunity...

I'm allowing him to name our new kitten though and hoping he'll let me name the baby in return Grin

notyummy · 11/07/2012 15:17

Thanks for the ideas ladies. I love my lace skirt but probably not as I wore it on one of the few occasions I met all these people previously. Will mull over the knee length dress options- there are quite a few Blush.

Bloss- have not clicked on that link!!

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 15:17

The key to success is pinning them down in the delivery room. It is very hard to say no to a woman post labour.

AmberNectarine · 11/07/2012 15:18

What about that lovely bright blue one you have ny, or is that a bit too sexy?

The top you wore to MU was gorgeous? Could you make an outfit with that?

blossoming · 11/07/2012 15:45

Coated skinnies with bling-y flats ny?

ReineDeSaba · 11/07/2012 15:53

Oh please..this weather is just ridiculous.am.so.bored.of.the.rain.

Should be tidying up lego while the girls are in the bath but am sneaking on here instead!

darkness what a pretty lady you are, congrats and great nursery decor.

ollie unfortunately the magpie thing only gets worse.I spent the early hours trying to track down the lovely shiny Marc Jacobs bag ants pinned.could not find it but realised in the cold light of day my life at the moment really only requires wipe clean and boil wash rather than spingle, spangle!

I will also need virtual support for driving this Summer as will drive in the States for the first time..eek,though don't think I will ever attempt Manhattan. I found parking is just practice mim I do a cutthroat school run twice a day so have improved significantly even though have been driving forever.

having grown up in a male household food is not an issue for me though there probably isn't a woman in the world with a completely healthy attitude.

Also quite clear that good looks/thinness bear no relation to the way some women feel inside.

Am completely bemused by the test you're all doing..please explain!(not sure I want to find out my true self!)

great to hear from you fritzi hope you have some sun.

well done mr.red

dona can I be nosey and ask how old your daughters are?
