single button?

pickledsiblings · 24/07/2012 02:29

and a red unlined one to finish on. Anyway, there's lots more on there if you can be bothered looking. Really must go to sleep now...it's sooo hot...

Thanks, will have a peruse of that site this morning Pickled.

SE have tried eBay, but so much dross to sift through! Will search further.

Ideal shape is single button, 'pointy' (no curves on lapel and front corners) or very very slouchy and relaxed - nothing in the safe middle ground, basically Grin. I have got one in progress, but planned childcare for this week has half fallen through, so may not be able to finish it. Although it has just occurred to me that I can take my sewing machine with me to the hotel, since I am driving there.

Another beautiful day today. My plan is to slather everyone in sun cream and stay outside all day.

notyummy · 24/07/2012 09:22

Good luck with the hunt Hopefully.

Such a small world for the Wimbledon-ites! Shame you didn't make the torch Amber, although I guess with younger children there is no feeling of 'missing out.' I think there were literally a handful of children in DDs whole school (out of about 350) who didn't go down to see it in our town, so I would have never heard the last of it if she didn't go!

Weather glorious here. Wearing belted flowery shift dress, with no tights and black wedge sandals. Managed to wear H and M leoopard maxi yesterday for only the second time since I bought it in May (bloody Bristish 'summer' Hmm.) I do really like it. It is so flattering - but VERY long. At 5 ft 10 I have to be really careful about trailing behind me on the floor if I am in flats. It would great with my Zara wooden heels but as I was wearing it for a playdate at home I thought that might be a bit much Grin.

Love the owls Emo!

I'm on the train wearing Vince maxi. I had to shorten it ny, but I'm happy with the result.
There is no happy medium is there? I wanted to wear the Vince with the Roxy, but it was 21C at 7.45 when we left the house.
It's not set to last though, and I'll be back in Uggs come the weekend Sad
Hope everyone sees some sun today.

FritziGreenEyes · 24/07/2012 10:27

Sneaking on MN while I'm supposed to work on my manuscript Smile. Enjoy the sunshine everyone. Beautiful weather here too! I miss DD. She would love the pool and the beach and everything here.

Raining here, just heard the R4 weather forecast saying it would be the hottest day of the year in the UK!

Hopefully have you tried Massimo Dutti or Gerard Darel for blazers, I find their tailoring pretty sharp

Hopefully · 24/07/2012 14:03

Verity will take a look, thanks.

So unused to the sunshine - I am finding myself flapping hugely about my (very fair) children in the sun. Someone reassure me that they won't die of heat stroke from a bit of sun? They are both sun-hatted, sun-creamed and going inside at least every hour for a little while to cool off.

I should have put a bikini on.

Yes I'm afraid I am a bit laissez-faire too. DS has inherited my olive-y colouring so has tanned up a treat. He does wear factor 50 in this kind of heat though. DD is fair like her father so have to be more vigilant. DH currently nursing sunburnt ears, bless.

Had a bit of success this morning. Went out or a wander as DH had a conference call and I was bored, and had a browse in TK Maxx for MiH Paris (which they had, but not in my size) and spotted this dress which fits like a dream, feels good quality (of sort of neoprene fabric) and is a lovely colour. Great for work and a bargain. They also had in teal, grey and red. Then went to Gap and bought this sundress which is a lovely fit.

Hopefully · 24/07/2012 16:36

I am totally laissez faire about myself, but the boys are fair like DH (although, thankfully, not quite as white blonde as him). DS1 is really not enjoying the heat, bless him. The only time he's been happy all day was when he was sat with the hose pipe dribbling out a constant stream of water on him.

I want some of my many online orders to arrive now! Uniqlo merino, matches leather leggings, eBay wins.

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2012 16:51

I have one blondey and one olivey and the difference in colour in the summer is even greater as ds1 gets a tan and ds2 gets blonder.

I have succumbed too to the lures of more summer dressing and bought a colour block mini. Will link when home.

I have done so much lounging and reading today!

alwaysrunninginheels · 24/07/2012 16:56

hopefully am looking forward to the report on the leather leggings!

marsha LOVE the sound of lounging and reading. Hope you enjoyed not at all jealous

MidnightinMoscow · 24/07/2012 16:56

Wot a scorcha!

Bad start to the day - drove into the back of a wall at the nursery, loads of people watching. Annoying woman drove into the tiny car park and gave me no room to move. Only a few scratches but more a dent to my confidence.

Then, had the coil fitted - wasn't too bad at all. However, afterwards the GP realised she inserted one that was 2 months out of date. She pissed me off a bit because her first words were, "I really don't feel like doing it again". Er, ok! Then she kept saying, "I just don't understand how it happened". In the end the nurse in me said pointedly, "Well, probably because you didn't check it in the first place". Cue a difficult silence.

They say its ok and should be reliable...but would like a bit more reassurance that that. Will need to research.

On the up side, I had a wander around Topshop. Some lovely things. The Pistol a likes in a very good for £45. Also saw a lovely teal coloured blazer and these beauties that I fell in love with.

Hopefully · 24/07/2012 17:00

MIM what a nightmare re coil! And how unhelpful of her. Presumably there is lots if error margin built into the BB daye, but nonetheless... Was teal blazer Topshop? Am on the hunt.

alwaysrunninginheels · 24/07/2012 17:20

mim thats awful. I would agree there must be a margin of error built in. But yes you must look into it! Cannot believe she said she didnt feel like doing it again! Dreadful! Did she suggest it should be replaced sooner? Poor you! Not the best experience.

I got new look boots delivered today and am very impressed. They look amazingly like my acne cypress boots! V comfortable and easy to walk in. Also thelmas arrived and i know as DMBL40 says they are marmite items but wow i love the colour. May finally throw the old ones out!

Russianred · 24/07/2012 18:15

That is awful MiM - very bad form on the GPs part and sounds like her bedside manner left a little to be desired. I would be inclined to insist on a re-fit, as irritating and potentially painful as that would be. Big sympathies on the mini-crash. It is a dent to your confidence but try to think of it as having got your inevitable (as it is for everyone) first crash out the way - it makes you a better driver, I think.

Love the Cypress-a-likes. Probably too high for me for everyday (can anyone tell I am not allowing myself to be talked out of Pistols - by the time I have saved they'll be unavailable!).

Have arrived home - the DC have been wild all afternoon and have just put them to bed. After effects of grandparent indulgences x2. Am gong to plan in a busy day tomorrow to 're-set' them.

Also have one fair and one olive here. DD is like me and struggles in the heat, burning if she even looks at the sun, whilst DS is already very tanned in spite of the factor 50.

DH is out seeing friends and am quite pleased about this, I must say - the transition from work to holiday combined with the first few weeks of medication taking are making for a trying time for everyone.

MIMShock at GP.
Doctors are notoriously bad at checking BB dates, imo, compared to us nurses.Wink
I think I would have it re done, tbh.
Had Mirena myself, didn't suit though as kept getting breakthrough bleeding, which I now know is down to having a 'heart shaped uterus' which meant the coil was displaced.
