Well Bloss I will be wearing shift dresses with blazer as at work but will try to get away with bare legs.

But agree sundress and flip flops, some of your nice shorts and a tank or blouse.

Had a great night out last night wore my Ce Me, bling earrings and a black blazer and blue heels. Great company and lovely surroundings. Shame that poor DD2 was broken hearted (felt so guilty!)

DonaAna · 22/07/2012 11:13

Notyummy love your workout - I need to run tonight as well...

Amber am with you - don't like dogmatic lists about what is stylish and what is not. Having said that, I was depressed post-DC and one of the causes (and consequences) of unhappiness was that I looked like I didn't care. Ugly practical footwear, an uniform of boring knits, dull ill-fitting jeans. (At the same time, DH looking extremely good in his sharp work clothes.) Getting rid of that and relearning to be playful with clothes has been one of the elements of my recovery.

Today I once again played dress-up. I went to the playground dressed as a mum: floral skinnies and a navy linen tunic top (don't have a breton). Would have worn ballerinas but heels still too mutilated post crazy shoes so had to wear Havaianas. Oh, and would have worn a fleece today but it was too warm... Didn't get it right - all other mums wore jogging clothes Dads had made more of an effort - one wore an oversized bermuda length overall with vintage suspenders (was so good-looking and tanned and muscular that I mainly dared to stare my large and dirty feet).

One of the days next week will be an official ugly shoe day for me. Have a perfect pair: men's leather casual shoes one size too big for me. Bought by me in the throes of new mumdom, looking for something sturdy and practical. Outfit to match: faded bootcuts, frayed nursing tee (I don't breastfeed any more), a hoodie from my student days or my jogging fleece. A perfect outfit for the park with DC on a rainy day. Perhaps not the best outfit to wear 24/7 and to feel good about oneself...

blossoming · 22/07/2012 11:31

Shorts? Really?
Will start planning..

girlsofsummer · 22/07/2012 11:32

Amber yes so agree with you about nastiness of it. If people want to wear anything they want, why would others care?

Love the first leather trousers Hopefully

Thanks for all the encouragement re dress/treat. Have not bought. will think on it so much other stuff to spend money on around here!

AmberNectarine · 22/07/2012 12:34

Today, for a visit to the supermarket and Ikea, I am wearing my zebra print sundress with TS neon sandals and ancient, faded Calvin Klein denim jacket. Green Gracie finishes the look. Not sure this is typical London look though.

MidnightinMoscow · 22/07/2012 13:12

Oh yes, green shorts would look great Bloss - it's set to hit 30 next week in London. Hope DS is better soon.

2% body fat NY? That would be amazing.

Totally stuffed from our lunch - although not that enjoyable trying to eat with a streaming cold and a 2 year old climbing over you like a monkey.

blossoming · 22/07/2012 13:52

We have eaten outside. So much for me not cooking! But only a tuna pasta salad, so not much effort. Am now keeping DS company in his bedroom. He has never gone to bed when he's been ill before. Hope it's just a 24hr thing.
So lovely and warm here. Makes you forget the rain and the cold instantly!

notyummy · 22/07/2012 14:46

Am only joking re the 2% body fat btw. Apparently Bradley Wiggins has 4% body fat and that is the lowest of any international cyclist! Last tone I checked I was around 21 which is apparently find for a 40 year old n
Lady who isn't a professional athlete. Wouldn't mind losing an additional 1/2 %.

Back from christening and having a thrilling afternoon sorting through baby clothes - making the most of the DS-free time. So grim being inside on such a lovely day, will treat ourselves to a G&T in the garden in a mo I think.

Christening was lovely - wore Me & Em but toned it down with flat TS gladiator style sandals and a teal cardigan. And then toned it right back up again with the De Manta Swoon. Luckily didn't feel out of place with reasonably stylish wealthy mothers.

SE bag lovely but too structure/classic/symmetrical in shape. There are no bags for me. Anywhere.

NY am v v impressed at any sort of NMTZ/Insanity combo. Went for a lovely run with DH this morning, which we never get to do. Am fitter than him Grin. Shred later, in the hope of burning off some of the slight excess of christening party food.

Hopefully · 22/07/2012 15:14

Bloss hope DS feels better soon, poor chap.

Am tossing up between a pure cashmere sweater and a cashmere silk milx sweater. I tend to only get my pure cashmere from brora as it wears so well, and I'm thinking that the silk/cashmere might be more useful for work/smart casual type stuff, whereas the pure cashmere is probably more casual. Thoughts?

FritziGreenEyes · 22/07/2012 15:17

petit Hello and welcome back! Smile

bloss Poor DS! Hope he gets better soon and can enjoy the sunshine. How about city shorts or your new maxi for London? I sometimes feel a bit naked when wearing very short shorts when I'm not at the beach/in the garden/on holiday.

gos Congratulations! You should get yourself a little treat, even just a bunch of your favourite flowers or a bottle if champagne.

I'm on the train to the intensive writing workshop starting tomorrow. It is in a holiday resort by the sea but I'm there for work so dressing appropriately is always a bit tricky.

blossoming · 22/07/2012 15:31

An still playing nursemaid. Thank goodness for kindle. Have just downloaded some Jilly Cooper. I may be away for some time...!

Emo76 · 22/07/2012 15:35

hello petit lovely to see you back, I was thinking about your Gracie hunt last year when the mini Gracie hunt was on recently here! hope you continue to get better xx

get well DSbloss poor little guy

fritzi that sounds amazing (your course and location!)

where did this sun come from , I barely recognise it! Finally a chance to wear some summer clothes. bloss one of the things I love about London is that it's an eclectic mix in terms of what people wear. So, wear what you feel good in!

having a big sort out here , two bags for the charity shop from my wardrobe alone. amazing how good it feels to clear the decks a bit (and make room for wise future purchases...!)

blossoming · 22/07/2012 15:36

Definitely taking the new maxi fritzi! Shorts possible for one day but not for my 'free' morning when I'm doing hair and shopping. Would feel all wrong. Kardashians etc are always 'dressed' even though it's hot where they are. Will do some serious outfit planning later.

What a gorgeous day!

Petit lovely to see you. I'm sorry to hear about depression, but hope you are feeling better every day. Lovely to have you on pin!

GoS you should definitely get the Joseph dress. You deserve it! Congratulations on the bonus and deal and being an all round star Grin

Amber yes just enjoy what you wear I say. And enjoy the styles of others, it's just fun really.

Hopefully love the matt leggings. they look gorgeous in that pic with metallic grey Balenciaga and pumps. Divine. I really like both jumpers.

Breton love that dress so much. Did you have a lovely time? Just saw MiM's little nurse pic on there. Made me smile.

Ollie your holiday is lovely.

Dona love the cobalt blue dress. And the sound of your lovely life and travels. Such wonderful places to live.

Bloss shorts I say. And short skirts / tshirts.

NY he's very lean. Read today he uses up 8000 calories a day. I imagine being his nutritionist/dietician (special name for athletes?) would be very interesting.

Fritzi I'm pleased your course is in a holiday resort will make it nicer!

You'll fab in those shoes SE

Has been really nice weekend. (My birthday one!). Had a lovely dinner party at our venue and I felt quite stressed about it before hand as people don't know each other. But I have spoken with friends today and they have all said how lovely x is, and y is and how nice my friends are and the venue, which made me very happy indeed! So much so I'd like to do another one, mix it up a bit and try and drag some more of you along Wink. GoS came last night and it was really, really nice to have her there and looking fabulous I might add. Mwah x.
Also my brother flew from Berlin which was great.

I went to Liberty and looked around for about an hour but no dice. It was all really bad right at the end of the season dregs. Ach nothing at all.

I did see the
Acne angora
That Marant red is beautfiul
A P Lim brick colour, very AW

All lovely and on my list now.

This has taken ages to write and catch up. But big wave to everyone else. Happy days!

pickledsiblings · 22/07/2012 17:03

Marsha, happy birthday!! Glad you had a great time and so lovely of you to invite the gorgeous GoS. I bet the two of you were a sight to behold Smile. Have just had a lovely memory of you two hobbling on cobbles to a taxi...

Emo, remember? Good work on bagging up stuff for charity, nice cast offs I'd say - is your Nanny fashionable/your size?

Hopefully, lovely that the bag of delight made an appearance, outfit sounds cleverly put together. The DC have a few jumpers from Massimo Dutti with just 2% cashmere and the rest cotton. It is amazing how soft they are and how well they wash.

Beautiful day here too, I am wearing Warehouse leopard scarf as a halter neck dress (around the house obvs).

FritziGreenEyes · 22/07/2012 17:04

Happy birthday marsha! What did you wear?

Should have added that the place I'm going to is frequented mostly by unstylish OAPs for their holidays. The hotel has seen better days too but the weather forecast is very positive and I hope we can sip some cocktails after all the work is done. Smile

Hopefully · 22/07/2012 17:26

SE I thought that the marant one was fairly safely autumn (ignore the fact it calls itself burgundy)? The equipment one is definitely very much on the spring side of things. Well done on sales shopping - you should get those shoes. I am awful at sales shopping, always end up buying something from the tiny rail of 'new season just in' stuff instead of sale stuff. Just can't be bothered with rooting through it to find the gems.

Hopefully · 22/07/2012 17:27

Yes, Marsha outfit details required!

blossoming · 22/07/2012 17:55

Happy birthday marsha! It all sounded so glamorous!
I'm hoping my London trip still goes ahead.
Bought the Seasalt white shirt and it was beyond awful. Massive, see through, and bone.

Hopefully · 22/07/2012 18:21

Grin at bone horrors

Evening all - hope you've all enjoyed the glorious day. What a difference a bit of vitamin D makes, hey?!

Hope DS is better soon Bloss, poor thing.

Sounds like a very lovely birthday evening Marsha - glad everyone got on so well.

Pickled am intrigued about the fashioning of a halter dress!! Seeing relatives was cheering actually, although sad as they are not looking after themselves very well and refusing help - very private people. My Mum is going to help them now she's back, despite the fact they are her ex-partner's parents. He is far too busy closing deals, of course Hmm.

Think I prefer the Marant Hopefully. Uniqlo have a much cheaper Merino alternative which I am planning on buying, if you want a trial run.

Breton hope you had a wonderful day in your amazing outfit.

Hello Petit, how lovely to see you. Have missed your posts ever so much!

Had a style fail yesterday, much to my sister's amusement. DS exhausted on way into London and only had a newborn wrap sling for DD so he could go in the pushchair. Had hair centre-pared and curly, a maxi, Mum's Havaianas (hadn't anticipated warm weather), DD in sling and a big Thai-style bag in purple tiger print bag. Raybans only redeeming feature. DD added to general hippy look by screaming out 'Houmous' at passers-by. We were in COS FFS! On which note, I bought a lovely speckled jumper in there and some nice bits for the kids.

Big wave to everyone else, have to calm overexcited DC.
