I need to catch up. But just heard about the project which I am now doing (from that interview the other week).

Sounds quite good, 3 days a week. Quite flexible. Still time to do the other stuff for October.

But the guy had an Irish accent and I could feel myself picking it up. FGS!

Nearly as bad as when the teacher at ds' new school showed where the loos were and I said 'awesome'. WTH?

Dona Meryl Streep is so damn good in that movie. By all means move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.

And
'This... stuff'? Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.

hehehe

Quick holiday update from the bar while DD is roaming outside with a bunch of children. There is a smug super slinky-malinky Mum here with her 3 DCs. Her husband mistook me for the hotel's kids' club staff on the first day they arrived. Then I saw her reading 50 Shades (hope no one saw me smirking) but it doesn't seem to have the, ahem effect it had on some of you here, as they have the room next to us and it has been quiet so far, phew. Today she dissed DD's school for being elitist after explaining to me that her DS goes to a private school that caters exclusively for the talented and gifted.

MarshaBrady · 13/07/2012 17:52

Pickled I felt quite lost without ds2. And a bit bored! He provides a squidgy distraction from small talk at times.

Ok going to read properly now, and try not to post updates as I do so...

AntPants1 · 13/07/2012 18:13

bloss is this top too floaty for you?

blossoming · 13/07/2012 18:21

ants that is gorgeous, but yes, too floaty. I meant to thank you for the pointy shoe link too. My initial judgement reaction was that the ankle strap was a no no. But since then I bought my new sandals which are such a new direction for me (hate my feet, live in ballet flats, don't do ankle straps), and they work really well, so I shall have to have another look! Happy anniversary.
We're going out tomorrow night. Just for a meal in the where we got married place. Might wear the black maxi and new sandals if this deluge (really scary amount of rain falling right now). Or, the drapey IO top with skinnies and platform heels. I feel a new board coming on.....
Well done ny. Hope it goes well for you. Did you decide on the dress yet?
Have a good journey dona. I don't think you're a dramatic classic. I think you have a softer side. Would it be 'gamine' seventh / hopefully?

blossoming · 13/07/2012 18:23

Oh, hi to fritzi, hope you're having a lovely time!

AntPants1 · 13/07/2012 18:30

Am tempted by these shoes....what do you think??

Thanks Bloss

Pure cardigan arrived today and is a keeper. A great alternative pattern to leopard

Sounds good Ants - I have the same FC top so could re-create look but with some lovely olive heeled sandals I have. Have had them for 8 years and had forgotten about them - resurrected whilst hunting for a picture that we can't find.

Will have an outfit try on tonight then - my Mum can have the final say. DS and her have just gone off in the car to Temple. He is wearing a yarmulke and took himself off to get into a 'smart' outfit. Came down reeking of DH's aftershave wearing a shirt with the buttons done up all wrong. Bless. She's gleeful in her recruitment of him as a Good Jewish Boy.

Hope you have some energy left to enjoy yourself NY!

Fritzi she sounds like Hard Work. One to avoids methinks.

AntPants1 · 13/07/2012 18:38

Dona thanks for the analysis BTW. You are right i do lean towards naturals and yes I also love my strong prints.

fritzi silly woman. You hooke up those judgy pants. Enjoy the cocktails!!

blossoming · 13/07/2012 18:52

Funny this style lark. Leopard print looks frumpy on me. Flowers make me look old. With sequins I look middle aged. Stripes seem to work still.

Ooh look, it's the McQ but shorter. Still has a weird hem though.

MarshaBrady · 13/07/2012 19:24

I like floral, but has to be a big edgy. Ie the right print.

Can't do leopard print however.

I can see you in grey leopard print Bloss.

OP posts:
Hopefully · 13/07/2012 19:32

I can do leopard, no probs, although better if it's a large scale leopard print. Same with stripes - they need to be wide. In fact, I can get away with most prints as long as they are large scale, even florals are just about ok. Although finding a print in the right scale and right colours is basically impossible, so I rarely wear print at all.

Hopefully · 13/07/2012 19:35

Like this dress, and this one (despite everything I've just said about print scale).

DonaAna · 13/07/2012 19:42

Issimma, contemporary sleek functional with a slight sporty vibe? You clearly like clean-cut and dynamic clothes and are not big on patterns and not afraid of color. Nothing earthy about you.

Bloss you may be right - I was just idly thinking last night that I like a lot of gamine looks - but would not feel 100% comfortable in them.

Fritzi Wine.

Ants worth trying on!

DH says leaving for vacation feels like we were moving to another country. Well, in fact we are... I have very distant memories of rain but packed a raincoat and cashmere. No espadrilles. Relatives said it is very hot there. How hot? Well, almost 20C...

Marsha Hope your work scenarios work out the right way. Oh, and I fear I know the snarly poly blend parts by heart. Now - that's all...

MidnightinMoscow · 13/07/2012 19:43

Hello All. I am hopelessly behind on the thread - I can't seem to catch up with it at all at the moment, is anyone else the same?

Ants happy anniversary, hope you have a wonderful time tonight.

DH and I are out tomorrow for his birthday for the day, we are going to London to see a photographic exhibition of the Rolling Stones and then a day of eating and drinking. I am planning on wearing the Whistles animal skinnies, with the navy Velvet top I got from the Matches sale - with a good old primani vest underneath for layering, they really are excellent. (Top is by Velvet - not made of velvet btw) Smile

Right, DC's in bed, managed to not crash the car this week so G&T time in the MiM house.

Have a good time MiM!

Dona have a fab time and thanks. Am now thinking of turning it down. I am so agonised. I shall try not to do what I did last time and do the agonising on here Grin

Fritzi lol I can imagine you giving the daggers over the second cocktail.

DonaAna · 13/07/2012 19:49

Hopefully just say no to weird hem. The 1st MW dress is gorgeous, the 2nd a bit meh - it's the small print.

MarshaBrady · 13/07/2012 19:51

Not keen on the second either. Very difficult for anyone to wear.

AmberNectarine · 13/07/2012 19:53

Step aside Bekkets, these are the ones for me...
