New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Thanks for the new thread blue.
I meant to say earlier how much I like that dvf decam.

Hopefully · 27/06/2012 13:41

Thanks for new thread Blue. I have no going out clothes, and rarely go out. I'm fine Wink

SE rust shirt could work - was thinking of cream one but it made the whole outfit v v pale which isn't ideal on me, rust one could bring things back in line a bit. Will remove clothes from DSs' room and have trying on session later I think.

I wish they would release Jillian's body revolution over here, I'd like to do it after I take a week or ten off after I finish Insanity.

MiM how crap, hate it when things like that happen - I find a huge percentage of mothers are so fantastically wrapped up in being the first people to ever have to cope with children that they forget entirely that other children count too. Amber we had/have a kid a bit like that a toddler group that we used to go to. Felt bad for them, but there were always both parents there, so it seemed a bit crazy for them to both just take the opportunity to sit back with a cup of tea.

Have just taken both boys for jabs (MMR for DS2 and pre-school set for DS1). DS1 was so brave, no tears or anything, DS2 sobbed hysterically for about 10 mins, but was placated with a cookie. Definitely a child of mine Grin

notyummy · 27/06/2012 14:10

Hi all.

Horrid lady MIM.

Always - doesn't hurt much. Bit of a sharp pain as it goes in; virtually nothing as it comes out. I have always felt absolutely fine afterwards. The time can be variable and seems to depend on how hydrated you are - it can be slow or fast. 5 mins or 15/20. There is a chance that they wont let you donate depending on iron levels - I have been turned down a couple of times. Dont workout on the day you go - it reduces them temporarily.

Bloss Loving your dhs newfound Shred enthusiasm! As you know, DH is a complete convert and tells others about it (usually prefaced with 'I thought it was girls and would be easy, BUT....') It has made a real difference to his mid section and shoulders!

Duritzfan · 27/06/2012 14:16

any space for a newbie ? Grin have lurked a bit on here and would LOVE to talk clothes with friendly like minded women ...
( you're not all size zeros tho are you ? Cause that would be soul destroying for myself who is post dc%233 and facing upto the big 4-0 ..

notyummy · 27/06/2012 14:23

Duritz- all kinds of sizes and ages on this thread. From my mental inventory we span around 20 years and at least 5 dress sizes, if not more...

Welcome duritzfan. Size 0 I don't think so! Although there are some very petite ladies on the thread who could be pushing it maybe.
No, all shapes, sizes, budgets. No judgements on £££ links. Only requirement!

I shall tell DH that ny. He will love it.

So instead of finishing my reports, I am 'shopping my wardrobe', and have my black jeggings on. I am thrilled to have found an ancient Jigsaw silk/viscose V neck jumper which is very slouchy as I bought it in a L which is perfect. The only thing, I could do with a long pendant type necklace in silver if anyone spots anything anywhere: no circles.
Also my short sleeved merino cowl neck goes well and both are contenders to wear either with my leggings if I'm brave enough, or with capris, which are also quite tight, next week.
Will be going out for staff drinks for the first time too, in about 3 weeks and will need careful consideration for that one.

My goodness, it's almost time for school run. Doesn't time fly when you're faffing about?!

blossoming · 27/06/2012 14:33

Are we really 2 decades? Hadn't thought about that before!

OllieinOrange · 27/06/2012 14:36

Thanks for the new thread Blue, love the title.

Hugely relieved that DS1 has been put in a nice class for next year with good teachers (they spilt the current class up to merge with another). Most of his friends stay together and all of the friendly Mums are in there too. Phew.

Forgot what else I was going to say.....its an age thing.
Ummmm

The White Company sale has started.

DonaAna · 27/06/2012 14:37

I'm 39 and wear 29" jeans. Bear with me Duritz
Hopefully, what a lovely surprise from your DH.
All avid exercisers, I still haven't ordered the Marant dress (am thinking about it though, waiting for a discount code to arrive) - instead, very virtuously got a pair of coral red/neon pink Stella McCartney trainers. My old pair is literally crumbling. The goal of all this exercising is to become a carrot or a string bean Grin.
Amber your wardrobe is amazing.
Reine & Bloss I'm a huge fan of boozy mails/purchases etc. No apologies needed ;)
Pickled colored denim is always fashionable in Italy - neons and sorbet colors not very visible this year, but white and red are true classics.
Blue your outfit for the night out sound gorgeous. Anything grecian is a winner in my book.

I'm done with toddler groups etc. - it was good to get to know other mothers but I'm happy that my children are growing. There is also often this nasty/perfectionistic/competitive thing going on in these groups, although I was very fortunate and got to know a lot of really smart and interesting mothers and fathers. I've returned to work (unfortunately, have to work from home - would like a proper office much more) and can delegate most of the playground stuff to my lovely nanny.

blossoming · 27/06/2012 14:47

How does a parsnip differ from a carrot dona?

Fleecy · 27/06/2012 14:50

Hi duritz and welcome.

bloss work drinks eh? You will wow them!

Laughed at parsnip dona

Bored myself practically to sleep with today's outfit. Navy skinny chinos rolled up to ankle, navy/cream breton, navy/yellow scarf and taupe Ash Jalouse. Mini Gracie brightens things up a bit but could do with some proper amber style colour pops. Not sure I could do a proper classic capsule wardrobe, far too fickle.

Hate toddler groups. Have only ever been to one so this is probably quite irrational with nothing much to base it on.

hopefully when you're finished with Insanity are you going to sell it? Might be interested if ny hasn't already snapped it up!

Decameron · 27/06/2012 14:58

Hi Duritz. I'm 40 eek and 29" jeans. :)

I used to give blood but haven't in a while. Have a little rest and a biscuit afterwards, Always.

I don't mind toddler groups, most of the mothers around here are nice and normal. DD2 is also starting Gymboree and Monkey Music (anything to tire her out). I do wish there was a Pimms/coffee bar in the playground. I did encounter a lot of hover mothers the first time around but now I either don't notice or ignore it. What used to really annoy me was when they'd tell me how well their DC slept!

Bloss, there are some very nice, slightly longer Vince tops on Shopbop (also HN but more expensive here. As with everything!).

I really need to sort through my blooming wardrobe. I still haven't worn a few things I bought this summer. Maybe Pinterest will help.

Fleecy · 27/06/2012 15:19

Oh yeah, forgot about the giving blood. I am a wimp so I have a small numbing injection before the bigger bloodsucking needle goes in. I think they offer it to firsttimers for reassurance but I always have it Grin

MidnightinMoscow · 27/06/2012 16:10

Thank you Blue, hope you have a great time tonight.
Hello Duritz, I'm 35 and am wearing 29'' jeans. Smile

Hopefully · 27/06/2012 16:22

Hi Duritz, welcome. I'm 29 and emphatically not a size 0 (27-28" jeans, depending on how vanity sized the brand is), and really quite poor Grin.

Oh pants, have just put DS2 down for a nap and forgotten to get all my clothes out of his room for a trying on session first.

Dona new trainers sound lovely. My workout trainers are the most laughably ugly things ever. My running shoes are ok though. You made me chuckle with your string bean/carrot statement - the other day my sister phoned me up furious because my mother had announced to her that, "you're not so much pear shaped, more of a butternut squash." It's not quite up there with telling me that I'm crap at motherhood the previous week, but it's close.

Fleecy I'd vaguely thought of ebaying it, so I'll be open to offers before I do! I'll let you know when I finally, sweaty and broken, get to the end.

Interesting Insanity fact - a few of the people look thinner in the month 2 dvd. I am trying to decide whether they all got so scared after filming the month 1 workouts that they ramped up their training before filming the month 2 ones, or whether they filmed each month's workout at the end of that month, or whether I'm just imagining it. I properly ache again - it's amazing how quickly you get used to a workout - I'd more or less stopped aching entirely from month 1 workouts.

blossoming · 27/06/2012 16:30

You've reminded me I have a vince tee from shopbop somewhere decam!
41 and 29 jeans here..

notyummy · 27/06/2012 16:30

Just seen the torch! Big parade and RAF flypast too. All v festive- in the sunshine! Wearing a maxi. Of course....

DonaAna · 27/06/2012 16:35

This means that we have a magnificent swap pool for 29" jeans.
Maybe we should buy just one pair of floral premium denim and send it around: MiM gets July, Dec gets August and Dona gets September Grin

Blossom parsnip and carrot. Same shape, slimmer overall. Can't fight my genes - there are some turnips in my family tree Wink

Sweltering hot. Wearing a pair of Havaianas and a flowery Esprit dress that's way past its days of glory (also purchased before my style awakening - big flowery patterns flatter very few people, and I'm not one of them).

Have to do a bunch of returns tomorrow. Keep procrastinating it. Last time, queuing at the local post office took about one hour and 58 euros of my money (that is 1/4 Mini Gracie): one of the little known downsides to living in Italy. Thank god most of the stuff was delivered by DHL and UPS men with returns that are "free" (ie, the rates are extortionate but deduced from my refund).

Fleecy, time to change the record! I was wearing something similar for most of the winter (jeans, merino sweater, scarf; tights, wool dress, scarf, or, as a thrilling variation, no scarf!). Easy ways to get out of the rut: burn the scarf. Add some neon. I thought neons won't work with my colors but pink and orange are surprisingly versatile.

One of the new combos I will try later this year is colored tights and shorts with a peplum top (top and shorts in ultraconservative navy, tights bright and funky). The teenagers around here have been wearing that trend to death but I haven't. Flares and a cropped jacket also felt refreshing after a skinny jean overdose.

DonaAna · 27/06/2012 16:37

Dona gets September Bloss gets September and Dona October.
Welcome to the 29 club (the 27 club is passé anyway)!

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/06/2012 16:38

The torch is wonderful isn't it! I was very impressed when it was here. Felt like a real party- and in front of our school playground was where they did the passing it on to the next person which was lovely for the children to see. Love the fact the whole country has the opportunity to feel involved!

Emo76 · 27/06/2012 16:56

hey duritz welcome
Size 14 here! Jeans 30/31... anyone? ANYONE? Grin

PaddingtonBare · 27/06/2012 17:03

Quick delurk to assure you you are not alone Emo76 - how tall are you? Back to my shadowy recess :)

IceCreamCastles · 27/06/2012 17:29

Hi all, here I am with yet another resolution to keep up better. Don't think I managed to read or post on the last thread at all Shock

Hope you are all well- any chance of a fritzi style summary?

I haven't bought anything for aaaages. We're doing more work on the house at the moment and trying to save some money.

Ds continues to be a little darling. I can't beleive my luck (so far) . Dd is being a fab big sister too ( most of the time Grin)

Have a challenge for you all. My mum has got us tickets for the Olympic tennis at wimbledon and I feel the need for a hat just jn case by some miracle it is sunny. Some sort of straw trilby thing or similar. Any ideas?

Continue to be in awe of all the exercisers. I've started playing netball in an attempt to banish some weight and escape the house for a couple of hours but need to make a bit more effort on the food front (as usual!)

Much love to all

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/06/2012 17:30

Icey M&S mens dept had some lovely straw panamas - nicer than any of the ladies ones I've seen.
