New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Just back from Zara, watching Italy-Germany like every other living being in Italy.

MrsCB, the white/cardi jacket was lovely and tempting but I decided against it - there was a similar one at Massimo Dutti. But I got fairly rude service there - the jacket was frayed in an ugly way and I asked for a discount. The salesgirl looked shocked and said no way (in English - I hate it when they addess me in English). I smiled very sweetly and said "No discount - no sale - no commission" and walked out. Felt wicked and happy when I saw another salesperson smirking at the poor girl.

Got a few things at Zara. This has to stop -
Emerald green chinos (in size 40, gah)
A pretty green dress (sorry no pic online)
A scarf (mint green & coral)

Lots of lovely prints there. This D&G influenced blazer was so pretty but not available in my size.

rufus101 · 28/06/2012 21:21

I tried this frayed white jacket on in Zara and tis lovely.
Dona my DS1 (aged 7) is currently having a complete tantrum as Germany is losing. He pulled the team in the class sweep stake and gets 2 euro if they win the World Cup! He is inconsolable at the moment. I liked your retort to the shop assistant. I get so annoyed with shop assistants sometimes.
MIM my youngest is a bolter. It's so bad, that I refuse to take him out to certain situations on my own with the other two. I just find it so stressful.
I am getting ready for my hols in Sintra next week. I find going on holiday actually quite stressful with the preparations. I really do wonder if it's worth it. I am desperately looking for nice shorts and can't find anywhere. H and M is usually good for me with shorts, but the ones that fit nicely on the bum and thighs are all so very very short. In desperation I have cut up an old pair of Levis. 8 years old and a "square boot cut". Honestly, whoever said that pears should only wear boot cuts, should have taken a look at me in these. I looked bloody enormous, particularly in the thigh area! And those flappping bottom bits! I took to them with the sissors in glee!
I went through my shoes, and managed to get rid of 2 pairs. Well really 1 pair, as DD asked me for one pair that she wanted to "put on display". She said "I really hope I have the same size foot as you some day mum". Grin She clearly has good taste, as I was going through my scarf collection and she said that her favourites were "the red leopard print" (Lily and Lionel thanks to Decam) and the "blue skulls one" (MCQ one. I really like them, and some of the A/W winters are in really good colourways for Winters. Bloss and Amber!)
Really hope that baby comes soon Looby, so your DH can be around. Can he not cancel? If he was ill, he would have to. Am a medic myself, so hate cancelling patients, but really, this is a big life event!
Back to work, am supposed to be writingi up a report to go out tomorrow, but keep getting distracted.

AmberNectarine · 28/06/2012 21:25

Have two McQ skull scarves rufus, agree great colours for winters.

Watching The Proposal. That Ryan Reynolds... Grrrrrr

blossoming · 28/06/2012 21:34

I need to ask my boss for compassionate leave so I can start pinning. Have the iphone app and some of you are showing up with lovely stuff...
I think maybe the coat has to go decam [sorry]
I want to start, but don't know how...
I have been meaning to empathize with you re baby looby. Have had 2 inductions, both times with babies a fortnight late. And with the first, DH had already taken his parental leave when the baby was due, so when he arrived he went back to work!
Nice to see you posting rufus. I do like the new amcq scarfs, there's one in a deep red that I like, although they're not strictly large enough for me. I am stressing about my holiday wardrobe too, and I'm not even going for another 6 weeks. I think I might just swan around in Violet Lake and the toucan scarf for the first week and worry about my second week later! Isn't it funny how we buy things and realize later they were so totally wrong..

Decameron · 28/06/2012 21:41

It is already in the FARA bag and deleted from Pinterest, Bloss. I haven't worn it for four years, there's a reason!

Hope the baby arrives soon, Looby.

Your DD sounds like a stylish little girl, Rufus. I like these shorts. Have a great holiday.

Hopefully · 28/06/2012 22:22

Loving all the Zara links and the Pinterest love. Nice to click through after a busy evening.

I have been sorting through my clothes to weed out the last few bits that are too big/flouncy/completely not my style to get use from again, actually have quite a good little pile of Jigsaw/Toast/Phase Eight type stuff to ebay, so hopefully will get a few ££ in.

Also had minor outfit revelation for HoC set up day while I was going through my clothes. Had completely forgotten that I found the DP cowl neck striped dress in the sale for £13 a month or two ago. Think I'll pair that with nude heels. I really need another blazer to wear with such outfits (am rapidly wearing out my brown one as I wear it so much), and can't find one anywhere! All the lovely Zara ones are much to classic and/or ingenue for me. If anyone sees a nice one in any kind of autumnal colour for under about £250, feel free to link. Red would be nice, or any variation on teal/petrol, but I'm not fussy...

blondassassin · 28/06/2012 22:43

Delurking for umpteenth time Blush to suggest this Whistles blazer for Hopefully. Thanks as always for all the fabulous links, have also set up a Pinterest account! What a genius way of seeing what's already in my wardrobe, and reminding me to shop from it rather than buying yet more stuff....

Russianred · 28/06/2012 23:22

Is everyone else busy on Pinterest?! Am finding it so addictive - think I've found most of you. It's great to see everyone's wardrobes laid out.

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 07:38

Love all the Pinterest action.

Running round today looking for things to put into party bags for DS1s party tomorrow. We are holding it a month early to so all his friends can come (he is an August baby). Taking an easy option and going to the local army musueum where they get to dress and up as soldiers and have a tour. Wasn't going to do party bags but had a change of heart last night. Sucker!
Am hoping to track down some toy soldiers and water pistols (the idea being they can use the water pistols to knock over the toy soldiers - once they get home ha ha!).

DS2 will be in tow as he has free day from school. It will not be a quick trip.....

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 07:39

The White Company has a few new A/W arrivals here

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 07:44

Oh I like this draped knitted jacket a lot here

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 07:45

Pinning it now!

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 07:48

Exposed seam stripe sweatshirt also nice here

DonaAna · 29/06/2012 08:17

Ollie I am in awe - your Pinterest board is so stylish. Everybody elso, loving your wardrobes. Very inspiring, you are such a stylish lot.

Still in pyjamas - or, actually worse, tatty terrycloth shorts and an ugly red vest.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/06/2012 08:26

I love all the Pinterest-action! I have only one board named "Fashion" where I chuck everything I have, would like to have, find inspiring... Need to get it better organized. In the meantime I am just repinning all of ollie's pins Smile

Decameron · 29/06/2012 09:15

Lovely cardigan, Ollie. I may repin. :)

Dona, the Me&Em terrycloth shorts and flared trousers are so comfy, if you want an upgrade. Not the most stylish items of clothing though and certainly not worthy of a jog through Rome!

Going to do more clearing of Coach coat style items today as it is a lot cooler here. I am in royal blue J Brands, Stuart Weitzman sandals in the same colour and grey Whistles tee and cardigan. Only the baby is here to admire me!

Decameron · 29/06/2012 09:15

Hope your DS enjoys his party, Ollie.

DonaAna · 29/06/2012 09:25

Put on my new peacock patterned green Zara dress (L is tiny and almost immodestly short - crazy sizing once again). It has a lacy back which is very unlike me but on a superhot day like today it actually feels nice. Old green ballerinas. Matchy-mathy but my daughters approve ;)

Rufus and Looby, we are colleagues. Good luck with the birth Looby!

Dec the shorts and the trousers look both comfy and stylish - quite a feat!

blue2711 · 29/06/2012 09:28

Aargh, am getting left behind! Nothing at all pinned on my boards yet I'm afraid, need to get it all figured out.

MidnightinMoscow · 29/06/2012 09:34

Good morning.

I agree, Pinterest is so addictive. I really makes me yearn for the things on my wish list too. Red we have very similar wardrobes!

Cooler here today also, so paige teal skinnies with Gap embroidered blouse. Need to do a few charity shop drop offs today, being ruthless with the contents of our loft now as time is running out before the work starts.

Good luck with the party bags Ollie.

Rufus, it's a nightmare with a bolter. I sometimes thing people must see me with him and think I am crazy, I don't let him wander at all as he will not stop, come back and just runs and runs. I have tried all sorts of tactics, including a 'stop and go' game in the garden. But nothing. So I am resigned to using a buggy and reins for the time being.

Hope you are ok Looby.

notyummy · 29/06/2012 09:35

Morning all.

Just don't think I have enough spare capacity for pinning so have not even looked in case I get sucked in! Work pretty frantic at the moment, and every weekend busy from mid June until the end of July (mostly in a good way, with social stuff) but still time consuming. Something has to give, so pinning is out!

Grey and windy weather here for the school fair. I am supposed to be helping out later on, although no idea what I am doing! I volunteered via text message and have been told to report for duty at 1200. I always feel slightly 'all at sea' as everyone else seems to know each other, as I am not local (i.e only moved here in the last couple of years) and don't do many pick-ups and drop-offs.

Good spot re the DP stripey dress Hopefully. I have worn it to work a couple of times with navy heels. Once with navy tights, and once with nude fishnets. Both times with long sleeved top underneath to de-slinkify it (and blazer.)

Hopefully · 29/06/2012 09:53

MIM and Rufus it must be so hard having a child that runs off. DS1 is incredibly cautious and rarely leaves my side when we're out, and I feel so grateful when I see friends who have to hold on to their kids all the time. SE and I bought the same Little Life rucksack/reins thing and I literally don't think I've ever used mine. Suspect DS2 might be a bit different though - he is much more intrepid already (not hard).

NY ooh, nude fishnets. Where do you get yours? LS top underneath also good idea, especially if I can't find a blazer.

Thanks for the blazer link Blonde. If I could justify a casual blazer I would love that one - have checked it out before. Need something a bit more worky though, boo.

DonaAna · 29/06/2012 10:02

Nude fishnets are great - have seen them a lot on stylish Romans.

My DD1 was an incredibly strong-willed bolter. i had to get a Joovy because I could keep her strapped on the back seat and the baby at the front. Thank god she's outgrown the habit and walks along nicely these days. We are almost stroller free now - sold the Joovy to a friend, am getting rid of the Bugaboo Bee and Maclaren soon. Incredible how much easier life is without a stroller - I go to a cafe with DD1 a few times a week now - she gets a piece of mocha chocolate, I get an espresso.

notyummy · 29/06/2012 10:13

Try 'mytights.com' hopefully. They definitely have them - in fact I may have to order some more!

blossoming · 29/06/2012 10:27

You look lovely decam!
How do you 'pin' if there's no 'pin it' button ollie?
dona, can you invite me to see your boards please?
Feel for you re this afternoon ny. Hope it goes well.
Feeling all frightened at the memory of DS running away in Chester zoo. Was just awful.
He is much improved now, and on a school trip. Dd will be next. She is really independent and has tantrums if we try and hold her hand. Will get one of those backpack things for sure.
