New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

MiM have a look at the Smitten Kitchen blog - amazing photos but not traditionally 'well lit'. I think she has a super expensive camera now, but back when the blog first started she didn't.

I bring news of bargainous Zara leather boots!

Grey.

Brown/black (have just put these in my basket...

Hopefully · 28/06/2012 08:59

Ugh, DS2 grizzly post-jabs. Shall eagerly anticipate him getting better just in time to get ill again in a few days as they do with MMR.

Sister having to rush off from visiting this week as her boyfriend got knocked off his bicycle by a car yesterday Shock. He's fine, but sore and feeling sorry for himself (understandably).

notyummy · 28/06/2012 09:04

Good trenchcoat here. Not sure whether a small will fit me - I fit a small in Zara on top, but not on bottom usually. Large will be too big. Gah!

DonaAna · 28/06/2012 09:09

Morning all. I also need a Fritzi style update!

Decided to keep the Zara cream peplum top. The color is not perfect but the material is lovely and natural and good quality for high street (don't want pure polyester against my skin in this heat). Wearing with it an Anunciacao skirt from circa 2007 (this amazing print) when I still lived in Brazil and sometimes went luxury shopping in Rua Oscar Freire in Sao Paulo. I used to have lots and lots of girly skirts like that bf DC - slowly pruning them out of my wardrobe as my shape has changed. If I could find a 50s style tulle petticoat somewhere it would perfect the outfit, as a really full skirt would go nicely with the peplum. Anyhow, the orange lime print looks very fresh and goes well with my sparkly orange Stylesnob ballerinas and green Mini Gracie.

Wanted to go to Zara last night to look for the white MrsCB cardi/blazer and possibly the snakeskin skinnies, but was virtuous instead and went jogging. No flamboyant outfits this time, too hot. I definitely go farther and faster if I wear something crazy - took just the short route last night.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/06/2012 09:25

dona Love your approach to exercising. Exercising stylishly is definitely the way to go. The peplum top and skirt combo sounds fabulous!

notyummy I like the short tan biker boots best. I think you can find better high street trench coats. The Zara one looks a bit naked without a proper collar but if you love it, please don't listen to me Smile

mim Do you know someone with a good camera/equipment who could take a few pics of your dishes? You can repay the favor in food!

notyummy · 28/06/2012 09:27

Zara sale order - I have gone for:

Coated trousers.

Super slim jeans.

Dress. Bit different for me!

Another dress.

And a rather boring 'Basic' range green v neck jumper and chambray shirt. Never bought jeans in Zara before so have gone for 10, as am a TS 28, but Zara sizing often quite small, so may live to regret it....

MarshaBrady · 28/06/2012 09:31

Morning. Glorious Thursday. I have espressos while someone does the cleaning blitz. Terrible, but it is freeing like a weekly clean slate.

Have an interview tomorrow for a project. I'm working on something else atm so just having a look. I think I just do it to see what I may or may not be missing, a chat about what I know and a chance to do w&a SS12 work. Perhaps I should say this to my rec cons Wink

Need to catch up

notyummy · 28/06/2012 09:32

Fritzi - decided against coat and boots in the end (although am now agonising about whether to also order jeans in a 12 in a separate order....)

Think those grey flat leather boots are a complete steal (as they say in Grazia...) but I rarely wear knee high boots.

MarshaBrady · 28/06/2012 09:33

Lovely NY!

DonaAna · 28/06/2012 09:33

Love love love the dress Notyummy!
Hmmm, maybe I'll jog to Zara tonight - it's about 3 or 4 kilometers from us
(my other favorite form of exercise: mincing into Dior in heels via Villa Borghese - Zara is nearby).

Have a lovely day everyone. Need to get some work done while the DC are away and the house is quiet.

OllieinOrange · 28/06/2012 11:11

Well I've just had my own Pretty Woman type incident! Had my haircut and walked round the corner to a posh shopping street I never really go too (its all hat & interior type shops aimed at older ladies). Saw that a boutique had a J Brand logo (first time I have seen them in a shop over here) so popped in and innocently asked if they had any 811s. The reaction of the sales assistant, after looking my up and down, twice was "Im sorry, I have no idea what you mean". I started to explain it was a type of model etc etc and was cut off with a wave of a hand and a "the models we stock are on that rail there. You should find out exactly what they are called and come back"
Felt about 2 cm high!

It was one of those situations I wanted to come out with a smart comment and of course couldnt think of what to say! They had a boot cut and a pencil cut pair but couldnt see any model numbers - desperately wanted to so I could say ah ha to the silly moo of an assistant!

FritziGreenEyes · 28/06/2012 11:46

Oh ollie.... When I started to read I thought an updated version of Richard Gere was swept away by your new haircut and whisked you away into a nearby boutique and bought you bags of stuff. Silly shop assistant. Her reaction just shows how insecure she was when confronted with your in-depth knowledge of JBrands. She should have used the opportunity to learn from you and thank you by offering a decent discount.

Emo76 · 28/06/2012 11:48

oh olly what a cow.

blue if you still want the cobalt mini gracie from the sale PM me - have decided NOT a keeper as too small to use for work and I have a mulberry alexa clutch from last summer in watermelon which is colour pop enough in small size.

our nanny is sick cue slight panic in emo household - DH more flexible with work so is at home having toddler time.

AmberNectarine · 28/06/2012 12:11

I'm now going to send ollie my 8 pairs of J brands so she can go into thy shop with them and say 'Big mistake. Huge!' Who's with me? We could probably scare up about 50 pairs on this thread!

Went into nearest big town, ostensibly to get sink unblocker (which I came home without, obvs) and picked up the pink tie dye sweatshirt seen on the Worn Out blog, which I had liked then forgotten about, and also some harem style lounge trousers and some shorts from the Uniqlo/velvet collection. Will link later. This no shopping thing is going well, isn't it?

notyummy · 28/06/2012 12:12

Another nice Zara titbit here.

Ollie - that lady was obviously out of her depth and reacted really badly.

Emo - hope the nanny gets well soon!

Fleecy · 28/06/2012 12:27

ollie that's awful. Could you go back in and speak to the manager? Sounds like she got caught out and felt silly but that's no excuse. You probably feel like never going there again!

Eek emo - the downside of having a nanny. Worth it though

dona I have put my outfit for today on Pinterest - my initials are EN and the board is called 'My clothes'. Original huh? But I thought you'd like to see as it's a wee bit brighter than yesterday's navy-fest. Couldn't find my shoes but they're neutral mock croc ballet flats.

ants are you GH? being naughty and tempting me to buy Carven! I love your colour swatches as they have all my best colours in Grin

hopefully my you're a prolific pinner! I will spend some time looking at your stuff later on.

Have now followed lots of you. If I'm not following you, can you post your link again? Am getting confused!

Fleecy · 28/06/2012 12:29

Oh yes forgot to say how much I liked your sale buys ny.

And amber have you worn your DIY tie dye jeans much? I keep seeing ones I like but wondering how versatile?

AmberNectarine · 28/06/2012 12:48

I have worn them quite a bit fleecy. Usually with any something random like a stripy or neon top. I might double tie-dye with my new jumper! Thu are so easy to do - rubber bands and a bucket full of bleach, jobs a good'un. Considering getting a white pair and tie-dyeing them red.

AmberNectarine · 28/06/2012 12:49

Ooh anyone else who wants to be my chum on pinterest, I am AmberNectarine on there also!

MarshaBrady · 28/06/2012 12:56

You're all pinteresting like a fury! I still need to do mine.

Fleecy · 28/06/2012 12:58

marsha if there's a bandwagon, I'm right on it! There should be a [sheep] for me...

MarshaBrady · 28/06/2012 12:59

Grin Fleecy. I will be too when I've stopped being slack

Fleecy · 28/06/2012 13:00

mim have just started following you. Have hair envy from your profile pic.

MarshaBrady · 28/06/2012 13:04

So nice today. But dh shopped ds2's wardrobe from the archive drawer and sent him in tight cords. I hope they've changed him otherwise he'll be a rocker on a hot day.
