New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Ollie rude assistants are the pits. As you say silly moo!

Emo hope your nanny is better very soon.

MidnightinMoscow · 28/06/2012 13:14

Quick one from me - Fleecy, this product has changed my hair life.

Decameron · 28/06/2012 13:48

Great shopping, NY.

Wow, Breton, that was so rude of that woman. The floral jeans sound like a good choice. I took DD2 to her first Monkey Music class today, she absolutely loved it.

Fritzi, can you not find another babysitter or neighbour who might be free tomorrow? Shame to miss it. I have terrible luck with babysitters.

Ollie, that shop assistant certainly has a an attitude problem. We should do 1-2-3 Magic on her.

Going to document more of my wardrobe on Pinterest while DD2 sleeps. I now know why my bank account is mostly empty. I was going through the favourites list on IE last night, the favourites I added are to recipes, tops, bags etc, DH's are to Black Scholes pricing model and the like.Blush

Russianred · 28/06/2012 13:51

What a cow-bag Ollie! I often wonder how some shops survive when they're like this. I, for example, shall never spend another penny on clothes in HN as they were so rude to me (am sure the person sales forecasting there is quaking in their boots, what with my huge annual spend in there and everything...).

Have just finished making some earl grey cupcakes for book club tonight, am also going to serve some smoked salmon on lovely bread, along with lots of wine. Don't think many others have enjoyed the book though. Nevermind.

Marsha DH shopping the archive drawer really made me laugh. DH has been known to do this. I won 't let him near DD as he does ridiculous things like put her in a short top and tights and claim that she is dressed. No. Idea.

Nice Zara buys NY.

Russianred · 28/06/2012 13:52

Decam I was on the verge of becoming a MM teacher when DH got his job here - I really miss MM lessons; both of mine adored them!

Can someone send me a pinterest invite? Like Fleecy, I can't do with not being on a bandwagon.

Decameron · 28/06/2012 14:13

Pm me your email address, Red, I don't think I have it. It is a lovely class.

blossoming · 28/06/2012 14:16

Have tried to invite you red, but no guarantees, as it's all confusing to me at the moment!
Want to join under my real name really..
Have had a bit of a morning when a film crew descended on my class so missed break, when I was going to eat my lunch, but the main man is a very good looking Welsh bard (you'll have to trust me on this one). Then my new year 10 class are making a podcast/youtube video and wanted to stay in and work on it at lunch, and this has never happened to me here before, having really keen students - see it's taken me a year! So no lunch break/bike ride/gym visit, and soon it'll be pick up time (supposed to stop work at 12.50 today). Never mind. And have governors tonight. And have 8 reports left.
I like your description of me notyummy, but want it pointed out on record that I have not been out on the pull for over 10 years (in case you're lurking DH) Grin
So what have I missed...?

Hopefully · 28/06/2012 14:21

Ollie what a cow! Console yourself that you have far superior j brand knowledge.

Fleecy I've been on there a while and use it quite a lot Blush

Complete S&B fail here today - old Hobbs kite print tee in bad colours, chino shorts, freshly waxed legs (still sticky, so accumulating bits of fluff) covered in splotches of yellow and blue paint from helping DS1 make a picture of a beach. He is outside now glueing sand onto it...

One thing I should have done and haven't is pinned my wardrobe. I have so many old clothes that it would be hard, but could make a start....

DonaAna · 28/06/2012 14:37

Fleecy Gotcha! Love the green jeans. Such a fresh color. Even better if you pair it with your Gracie! I'm no judge obviously as am guilty-as-charged of navyfests but hope the brighter tones made you feel better - they certainly work well with your colors!

Ollie clearly an act 2 of your shopping experience is needed. That kind of a salesperson won't stay in business for long - you can feel smug when she is let go. I might even take the trouble to write a letter to the manager (if the unfriendly person is not the shopkeeper).

I've learned how to deal with salespeople by lots of practice - have recently learned how to deal with snooty ladies at posh Via del Babuino shops (Chanel, Hermes & Dior). We should have a seminar at some point Grin Last time I was at Chanel, I was offered champagne and a complimentary perfume sample - I just happened to point out to a senior saleslady that one of their perfumes was not on display... I was there with a friend and he was pretty impressed as the boutique was full of people but we were the only ones getting special treatment.

Emo hope things work out! Our nanny not sick tomorrow, just a bizarre Roman holiday of SS Pietro and Paolo (not celebrated in other cities of Italy). DH won't get a day off, so I will have to - oh joy, it's going to be a long, hot day.

Found & ordered a rockabilly petticoat online. Must not watch Mad Men - I'm starting to become a walking anachronism...

Oh and finally ordered the Marant. Amber, July will be shopping-free as I am quite broke - and had to pay a big chunk of the nanny's salary today. In monetary units that you all understand: more than a full-priced Mini Gracie.
But I'm a Summer. This is the best time of the year for clothes in my colors - I can buy all want because there will be very slim pickings later.

Oh, and MiM, Reine and others, I used to have a food blog eons ago. Will definitely follow any new ones. Taking the pictures is a challenge, get a tripod and google for some good lighting and styling tips. I had to buy a few new plates for food photography and also had to get creative with the lamps.

IceCreamCastles · 28/06/2012 14:41

Another sheep here - can someone invite me to pinterest too? I doubt I will have much to put on there but need to see what everyone else has put on!

Pouring with rain here. Wearing ancient broderie anglaise topshop skirt with bright green cardi so feel summery despite it looking like November outside.

Dd has just asked me for some water and a sponge to create an 'underwater picture' with her felt tips. For some reason I have given them to her assuming she knows what she is doing. This could end in tears (mine).

DonaAna · 28/06/2012 14:44

Icey, pm your e-mail and I'll invite you.
When I have some free time, I'll have to catalogue my wardrobe. I mean, the rest of it -all of the old stuff. I mean, the resource I will be shopping from for the rest of the year when my shopping ban is on.

Portia4 · 28/06/2012 15:03

Thank you ladies for your kind words, says she, glowing!

Love your Pinterest board Fleecy, can you Pm me your details Mim please.

Poor you Ollie, I am indignant on your behalf! I do notice occasionally when talking to friends about clothes though that I do call products by their 'proper' name i.e Ash Jalouse, and I can see them wonder how I know that, of course, it's all down to MN! Where else you have a convo about Pistols and for everyone to know that you're not talking guns! Or that Agnes is not your Great Aunt!

Hope that your nanny is back on the job soon Emo.

OllieinOrange · 28/06/2012 15:22

I think the lady in the shop was the owner Shock. Love Amber's suggestion of swinging by wearing and carrying JBrands tho! (Love that PW quote!)

Icey lovely to hear from you. Try Accessorize for a panama?
Durity second what Fritzi said about the tapas bar - Ole Ole in The Lanes - somewhere (picture 6 of us tottering around The Lanes on the cobbles unable to find it. Worth it tho - food and atmosphere were excellent). Loved Brighton too.
MiM great Pinterest boards. I would love to read any blog you do. DSs 1 and 2 are both bolters - even now...... Its difficult for Mums of non-bolters to understand when you say you wont go somewhere etc.
Blue glad you had a lovely evening. Outfit sounded wonderful.

I love nearly all of the Taylor Stephens stuff the 40 bum blog lady has from her clothing party - esp the tan bag. If we ever get around to sorting out a W&A house for a weekend, we should get someone in to do a similar party? Us HoC naturals would spend up a storm.

DH keeps sending me links to minis. Im resisting as there is nothing wrong with my existing car and would feel guilty at the unnecessary expenditure - but he is wearing me down. Has just sent a pic of a really cute red one with a white roof.

blossoming · 28/06/2012 16:41

I'm really annoyed on your behalf ollie. I cannot belive that bad customer service continues to exist in these difficult economic times.
I was inspired by the love of the Kardashians thread to which our dear amber, mrscb and dona contributed. I had nothing to add, but really love the way Kim Kardshian constantly wears her black J Brand jeggings, although hers are probably the leather ones. I channelled her on the school run in a slouchy top, big shades and big bag. My 901s are superb. Really love them.

blossoming · 28/06/2012 16:49

Was just adding my thoughts to the nappy bag thread and saw this mini bag which might keep pickled off my back for a while Wink. Would be good for holidays no?

FritziGreenEyes · 28/06/2012 18:44

deca DD is invited to a birthday party tomorrow afternoon and will be exhausted by the time I would drop her off at home before rushing out again. Don't feel comfortable doing this with a new babysitter or use a friend. Oh well...

pickled Forgot to offer to supply you with a few phrases to impress the hunky German. Is he a colleague or your boss? I am intrigued by your job.. What is your role?

emo Sick nanny is a disaster! Hope you will be able to improvise tomorrow and she will be back on Monday.

donaAna I love the Marant dress but have spent too much in the sales already. Told DH not to be alarmed if he comes across my CC statement. He replied "I'm sure it can't be that bad".

Russianred · 28/06/2012 19:17

Shame about tomorrow night Fritzi - no lovely teenage girls in the neighbourhood that DD is already familiar with?

Thank you for the Pinterest invite Bloss - am going to send Decam my e-mail address for a link that way as your invite means I have to be linked in to Facebook and that is definitely not a good thing! Facebook has become politicised enough with some kind of Granny-war between MiL and Mum!

There's a great image of KK in cobalt 811s with a biker and high black boots that I enjoy very much. There is no doubting she is bloody gorgeous. Not sure I'd want to be her mate though, iykwim.

Portia you are so right about referring to brand names and the thread - some friends look completely baffled when I slip one into conversation.

OllieinOrange · 28/06/2012 19:30

Red I read your KK as Kerry Katonia and then realised you meant Kim K! Ha ha!

Yes, Portia you were spot on about brand names and blank faces when you use them!

Fritzi what a shame about tommorrow. Know it takes a lot of effort, but could you ask your Mum?

suburban · 28/06/2012 19:45

Argh just lost a long message.

Meant to say that I am enjoying trying to guess who is who on Pinterest from their wardrobe boards, got Decameron from her lovely red Anya, but would appreciate a heads up on some other names.

Also MiM. I can't really advise on photography because my blog images are terrible, but just wanted to say if you talk as passionately about food as you do on here it will really resonate with people and be very popular. I think tutorials always seem to go down really well.

Yes hopefully toddler group woman was a loon. The sad irony is that i was more put off by her mad questions than the supposedly undesirable attendees.

Need to tidy up now before Kardashians starts...

Decameron · 28/06/2012 19:48

Hope it goes through, Red. I had to go through Twitter to set it up.

Suburban, yes, that's me! I am having more fun doing this than looking for new things. I really have far too much.

Decameron · 28/06/2012 20:01

Lovely bag, Bloss, it would be a nice pop of colour. Unlike my pink Coach coat that I am starting to think is A Bit Much, now that I am looking at it on Pinterest.

Hope your nanny is back soon, Emo.

Decameron · 28/06/2012 20:13

I probably look like a giant toddler, right? I've never felt the same about it since I wore it in Paris and felt very uncool. This is the coat (not my auction). Time to say goodbye?

loobylu3 · 28/06/2012 20:20

suburban- other DCs are 9, 7 and 3 so at a good age to understand what is going on, etc. DD1 is getting frustrated about baby not having arrived as 'everyone' at school keeps asking her!

Sorry to hear about your nanny emo. Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

portia- you are a v stylish mum. I bet your teens appreciate it. Teens are always so self conscious and easily embarrassed by parents not wearing/ saying/ doing the right thing!

icey- forgot to say hello the other day. Was wondering how you were doing.

blue/ MIM- are your babies particularly good sleepers? I was wondering as you seem to have got back into the swing or shopping/ nice clothes/ socialising so well.

Marant dress is a beautiful print, dona

SE- The HH dress you linked to the other day is rather stunning. I absolutely love the colours in it- v unusual but wok well in combination.

I have a v exciting evening planned massaging some act pressure points (have been told where they are by Chinese doctor friend). :)

MidnightinMoscow · 28/06/2012 20:53

Thanks for all the photography advice. I have only been using the camera on my iphone. Lots of practice required I suspect.

Ollie how awful, what a dreadful woman. You are the one who came away with your dignity intact though, unlike her.

Looby I am lucky, DD is a very easy baby and does sleep well. Given that DS was very tricky and did not sleep through until 18 months, I feel I am getting some good karma. Also, I am trying to get out and about as much as possible. Seeing as this is my last baby, this will be my last break from work, so I am making the most of it. Smile

Beautiful color bag Bloss.

Hard to say about the coat Decam, that picture is not great quality. Is it a pale pink? If so, I think it would be rather lovely on you.

I keep looking at the grey blazer and heather scarf on my pinterest wish-list. Beautiful colours together.

Portia I have PM'ed you, and you too Suburban.

Oh, I love smitten kitchen too Hopefully.

MidnightinMoscow · 28/06/2012 20:55

Oh, Ollie thanks for the bolter advice, its very stressful. I am always in awe of mothers with toddlers that walk alongside them without reins/hands grabbing coats/buggies etc!
