OP posts:
Portia4 · 26/06/2012 11:51

Bloss This is one of the tops that I hope to wear, I saw it on Sunday and really liked it, does anyone know how Cos sizes work? What size equivalent would an XS be?

I love that Marant dress Doña

Back to work Fritzi!!

Thanks for compliments re outfit, I also bought the White top with a floral design on the front that one of the Wornout ladies is wearing, it's really sweet! This one!

Portia4 · 26/06/2012 11:59

Annie There's another Anniemac featured on page 259 of Junes Marie Claire, she is an Irish DJ who works on Radio 1, and is whom I think of when I read your posts! Can you tell that I'm in the hairdressers?!

marsha Harvey nics for the Marant dress - 60% off

AmberNectarine · 26/06/2012 12:09

annie I'm going to sweet talk my DH - I am desperate for a cat. Can we pretend they'll be cast out on the streets otherwise?

AmberNectarine · 26/06/2012 12:12

emo a beer jacket something warm, when DH has dragged me in the past I have frozen stiff. This is why I have a Lords Cricket Ground sweatshirt in my wardrobe.

Amber thank you! Smile Am waiting for DHL man with matches c/es but will go up tomorrow morning!

How's the shopping?

Annie kittens are so cute you will have to take a pic.

Hopefully · 26/06/2012 13:06

Emo that sounds dull (unless clients are wonderfully fascinating). Getting pissed is probably the only solution. Non-sinky-in-grass-heels essential.

DH and I were going to get a kitten once, but we decided it was too much commitment. About a month later we decided to have children Hmm Grin

I haven't got a Pinterest board of clothes I own, but can see it would be useful for the reasons Dona states. In fact, maybe I should start one...

Russianred · 26/06/2012 13:21

Afternoon all. I have realised that I have had 4 years worth of PMT in the last few days (no cycles between bf'ing DS and falling pregnant with DD, then implant in immediately after DD), which explains the bizarre rollercoaster of emotions I've been feeling recently. Probably for the best that I haven't been posting.

Have discovered that a new local friend shares the same 'interests' after a morning spent with her today. She is a stylist for a gardening magazine and OMG, her house and garden are divine. She introduced me to this blog which should keep my happy for a few hours!

I love kittens Annie - how cute!

Decam we had a lovely time with our friends - thank you for asking. As soon as I have organised some dates, I shall let you know when I'm about. If you can't make an evening thing, perhaps we could meet for lunch/coffee? Do report back on your jeans trip.

I found a lovely pair of 7FAM indigo straight legs in the charity shop this morning for £4 - was very pleased with myself.

MiM you and your lovely DC are all looking gorgeous. I did like you as a brunette, but agree that blonde is definitely more 'you'.

Portia I find COS to run quite large - I am an 8-10 (more to 10 tbh) and often wear XS, so you would definitely be one.

MidnightinMoscow · 26/06/2012 13:28

Red...you see, you take the girl out of Essex....Smile

Emo Majors, a blazer and a big scarf would be my outfit choice.

OllieinOrange · 26/06/2012 13:33

Hate to pop in with a 'me' post (esp after kitten talk!) but as a treat for finishing Dutch lessons (until September Wink), I ran into Zara and brought the stripey boucle jacket to try on at home.

Also picked up a cream ponte single button fitted blazer - no idea why but it fitted nicely and only 50e. Will try on properly with black coated skinnies etc for an evening look?

They had all the sale stuff out (jackets not in sale, I checked). There was loads of it! Starts here on Thursday too.

Red was this the parka you linked to a while back? It was really nice in the shop (not in the sale area tho).

Agree with you mrscb there were studs on everything! Spoilt a lot of what they were on imo.

Oh snap Red I have got the worst PMT, went to bed at 8 last night to try and sleep it off but just woke up feeling very jet lagged in the middle of the night. New friend sounds great I love it when you click with people on more than one level.

Still really enjoying the pinterest boards. Fritzi are your initials KK or do I have another German follower?

Portia good luck with the blowdry, let us know how it all pans out. I have very thick hair as well.

Blue I would send the shoes back. I had a pair of Blochs that did the same, but I walk a lot. I took them to a cobbler who did a good job patching them up. There was also some sort of confusion whereby he thought they were DD's shoes and so didn't charge me Hmm.

No style news here but I can join in Marsha's gardening chat. Have succesfully grown lots of veggies for the first time this year and now have lots of rhubarb, courgettes and tomatoes with peppers, chillis and sweetcorn not far behind. Smile

Looking forward to hearing about Decameron and Amber's HN buys.

Russianred · 26/06/2012 13:52

Yes Ollie that's the one - it's really gorgeous on. Nowhere near as nice as the one I already have though! Look forward to hearing about how the new jackets get on with the rest of your wardrobe. Love the boucle one.

Sympathies (or should that be empathies?!) Suburban. Wow to veg growing -I am desperate to establish a veg patch - at the moment it's just a rubble patch.

What would one call the wooden frames that are all divided up to put on a wall - for the storage of trinkets (I have a thing for russian dolls and have a collection that includes a pervy-looking sailor) etc?

OllieinOrange · 26/06/2012 14:47

For once the boys have arranged play dates at other people's houses at the same time. Am in garden with ice cream Smile

MidnightinMoscow · 26/06/2012 14:51

Exciting news! I have been watching crappy daytime TV, namely a programme called "May the best house win", on ITV for everyone in the UK. One of the houses in my street was featured. Its a house that I always am intrigued by, as you can tell it's beautiful from the outside.

Decameron · 26/06/2012 14:58

Lovely blazer Ollie. I found Verity's navy blazer in Zara but it was too short on me. Boo.

Always, there are lots of coloured jeans in the new collections (well, I assume they are new, they weren't on sale). I have majors and they are fab on. They had them in a lovely grey/blue (called Plum) in HN today but I didn't want to pay the full whack.

Amber, I looked out for a glamorous mother and baby but I didn't get there until 12 as I stopped for coffee and cake. I bought J Brand khaki skinny jeans, I think they are 912, for £70. I think they are old stock as I can't find them anywhere online. Also bought a Nicole Farhi navy cardigan, not a great bargain at £80 but I like it. I didn't have time to look anywhere else I spent too much time eating!

I overheard some of the staff saying that there would be further reductions in HN on Thurs as sales were down this week.

Came home to find the grey Marias had arrived, I am not overly keen on the colour and have blown my budget anyway so returning. I like the style though so think I will ask my friend to bring back a black pair on her next trip to the US.

Portia, wish I had your hair!

Dona, that print is beautiful.

Good bargain on the jeans, Red, and hope you are ok. That blog looks great. Please do let me know when you are next here. Display case??

Decameron · 26/06/2012 15:01

Annie, DD1, I am sure, would love a kitten but I am allergic. She'd probably choose the cat over me if given the option.

Thanks, NY, she will get used to the longer days.

MrsCB, hope you have no more wildlife in your house!

DonaAna · 26/06/2012 16:06

Been way too avid of late and received a slew of orders today.
Sweaty Betty all good and enormously flattering. Thanks so much Bloss and others for recommending them Thanks The running capris look really good (and mercifully hide some wobbly parts and don't create a muffin top). I will look very stylish on the days I don't want to look outlandish Grin Put up a jogging board with both realistic and unrealistic ideas. (Making exercising a dressing-up game makes me want to exercise more. Good, no?)

The sad part: Topshop Motos don't work on me. 28" is too tight. The material would give in a few hours, but somehow the high lycra content accentuates every tiny lump and bump - and legs and bum really are my good parts. Overall feel: trying too hard. It's a shame because mint green looks stunning and very fresh. 7FAM Kauais are also wrong for my specific shape, too tight on the waist and too loose on my legs. A shame because the pattern is lovely.

Got a few peplum tops from Zara. Not worth your time. The cheap cotton one is too flimsy and transparent. The cream one was well-made and worth buying but the color washes me out. So the only peplum top worth getting is the white Marc by Marc Jacobs that seems to be sold out everywhere. If you see it somewhere in white and size M, please let me know!

Finally, I had to get this Lily and Lionel scarf: total, utter success! I secretly adore Russian floral matryoshka scarves.

COS sizes are enormous and materials hit&miss. Just had to return almost everything I ordered from there: either too large or poor quality.

Sorry for the egocentric message. All this trying on on a hot day and very little worth keepi g. Hope the rest of you have better luck with sales stuff!

notyummy · 26/06/2012 16:25

Sounds like you have the opposite shape to me Dona! TS 28s usually good me on but if too tight anywhere it is hips/bottom. Slightly big on waist. Think we are a similar height though? (Am 5ft 10) I have a pair of the Stella McCartney team GB running capris that I love. Just off for a run in them shortly whilst dd is at Rainbows!

DonaAna · 26/06/2012 16:51

Notyummy, the cruel truth is that I'm slightly parsnip-shaped. Skinny legs and a potbelly that sticks out. I'm finally learned why I look disastrous in some clothes and fairly good in others. I'm only 5'8" but with a short torso.

blossoming · 26/06/2012 18:26

I love 912s decam! Good bargain!
Glad sweaty betty worked out for you dona. It does make such a difference to me to have nice workout clothes.
Hope you're hair is looking good portia
I have had surprising success today with the Jigsaw vests. I got this in the blue, but, ahem the stripes are a little...orange. Still a great fit and bum covering for my skinnies. Portia, I have the S so reckon too big for you though. I think the other colourway will work for me too as it's 'taupe'-like and will probably look better with black too. This in the black looked better on and is just what I wanted for wear with black legging jeans and biker jacket with big scarf. Don't know why I can't click on the black tonight though.
Have done phenomenally well with the sales this year, probably better than ever, but do not intend to to work out total expenditure!

AntPants1 · 26/06/2012 20:16

reine have just checked out your blog. Your cookies look amazing!!! Ladies I was lucky enough to get to sample some cookies a while back and they are gorgeous, moist, full of flavour and soo so pretty.

blue2711 · 26/06/2012 20:51

Some great sales shopping! Sorry about all the returns dona but money towards next purchases!

Lovely afternoon: coffee and cake with friend then our first shipping spree together. I have found a kindred spirit! Only problem was how we liked all the same things. Rambled around some shops I don't normally bother with and stumbled across some great finds. Really annoyingly can't find on website but got gorgeous white enamel flower necklace from New Look for £8 (mrscb I think you would like it). Also some real leather black low heeled sandals for way cheaper than the whistles ones I was considering and just as nice. Also got this top. Earmarked floral shorts in Zara for hopeful sale purchase on Thursday. And love [[http://www.whistles.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/dept/newin_trousers?resetFilters=true#ID=id_903000058394__GBP&category= these animal trousers in whistles]].

Back later!
