There we go!

OP posts:
rufus101 · 18/06/2012 20:46

[Grin] at the tannoy announcement! Bet that was done for a laugh!
Well done on the Gracie MIM. Well deserved to be sure, and it was meant to be wasn't it? It was just waiting for you to pounce!
I am Shock at the Fifty Shades of Grey buzz that seems to be everywhere. My ultra convervative book club were even talking about it the other night!
I downloaded it to my kindle (I can never resist any kind of buzz) and didn't get past the room. Got a bit bored really. And I just can't tolerate something when it lacks any plot. I start poking holes in it and it drives me mad. Still I never thought I'd see the day when "mommy porn" became mainstream! All three books (yes, believe it or not it is a trilogy) are displayed prominently in the front window of our local book shop. I am now wondering how I can delete it off my Kindle? (suddenly have a fear DD will find it and be scared for life!)

Glad the IL visit went better than expected Decam. Such a pity they aren't closer.

Hello to the delurkers! We mostly all lurked once upon a time. I don't really think about the amount of people lurking, although I sometimes wonder if we cause sales to rise when we all get in a flutter about a particular item!

I have been stalking those J brands for months Bloss and dithering about them in the pitch colour. Are they very spanx like? (My ultimate skinny jean complement!)

MCB love your blog, but only recognise you and the orignal thread person. Have no idea whatsoever who the others are and I should as I've been on this blog well over 2 years now.

More rain here today.
School reports arrived today for DD and DS1. They both did very well, so we went for ice cream to celebrate. Very exciting. I actually felt a little anxious opening them. Isn't that very sad? What will I be like when they are older and it actually matters? I am turning into my mother and she drove me nuts, as I was very laid back. Oh no. Full circle.

rufus101 · 18/06/2012 20:51

And Red meant to say Brew and Biscuit
Glad it's another 2 years to my next one.
They are running a campaign here to screen all women. It took them a fully year to get me to go. I swear to God, they eventually wore me down. "we are very concerned that you have ignored" , "we are extremely concerned...etc" I eventually went "FFS already, I'll do it".
So console yourself with the knowledge that it's out of the way for a few years.(and remove another item from the lenghty to do list)

Russianred · 18/06/2012 20:52

Thanks for the sympathies, thank goodness it's over indeed NY!

Rufus I was saying the exact same thing - I read the book and was desperate to discover some semblance of a plot/character development etc etc. I know that isn't the proviso of it, but still. Caitlin Moran wrote quite an interesting piece about it in The Saturday Times magazine this weekend. How it's crap but it has opened the way for a lot of well-written books of the genre. Can't quite imagine suggesting it to book club number 1, which has an average membership age of 65.

Looby that is so exciting! Hope nothing happens till DH has finished nights.

blue2711 · 18/06/2012 21:13

Ooh, excited for you looby! Thinking of you.

Chuffed tonight as very stylish friend has asked me to help her edit her wardrobe. Flattered plus I get to snoop!

Happy for you mim. Gosh, more people than not have a Gracie on here now. Feel most left out! I dithered over cobalt too but don't think the size works for me with the little-ness of my DC and even I can see that I have lots of bags suitable for the rare times I'm without them.

Yes I love the blog too mrscb and the frequency of the posts and gorgeous-ness of you all.

DonaAna · 18/06/2012 21:13

Looby hope all goes well.
I'm influenced by you all - I'm thinking about floral jeans although I'm pretty sure they won't suit me!!! Very few floral things ever do. My favorites are 7FAM Kauais, but way too cute and I wouldn't be able to justify the price for a one season hit. Maybe I'll get a pair of floral Onlys instead - even if they are veering dangerously close to 80s acid wash Confused

Many of you like J Brands. Yoox has lots of them on sale. The site is chaotic and only random sizes are available, but the prices are tempting.

blue2711 · 18/06/2012 21:14

marsha your cryptic comments are intriguing me! What thing, what house?? Can you enlighten me please? nosy

suburban · 18/06/2012 21:23

Oh I am glad to hear she is lovely MrsCB that is of course what counts. My DD also starts pre school in September Grin Surely your style business will involve some lengthy research trips to Cribbs...

Am now wondering if Marsha is also on the 50 shades bandwagon (the protagonist says "Holy Crap" every other paragraph) I am such a prude I think I had better go back to Nancy Mitford and Daphne DuMaurier.

Very exciting Looby

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2012 21:25

Snap Ollie, 50 Shades of Grey for book group here too. We seem to read a lot of the same stuff.

Looby, are you excited? Your DC must be, especially your eldest, mine would love a baby in the house. So glad you sorted out your childcare issues for the next while.

MiM, hurrah for nude Gracie! So, can we have a Gracie roll call just for the fun of it?

Amber - mini, green
MiM - mini, nude
Emo - full size, nude
MrsCB - full size, black(?)

Can't remember anymore...I know a few people have the blue, feel free to C&P.

Amber, you sound pretty chilled - hope you have a lovely holiday Smile.

Wore these Ash wedge trainers to work today with my grey Agnes and fitted shirt and blazer - felt great, soooo comfy. Love the Pinterest sharing, was thinking we should do so recently.

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2012 21:28

Dona, I'm a big fan of Yoox for bargains too, have you tried the iPad app, it's pretty good.

Fleecy · 18/06/2012 21:28

Think dec also have full size black and I have the mini in blue... That's a lot of Gracies!

looby I can't believe your due date is almost here already. I'm sure it hasn't gone quite as quickly for you as it has for us though. Hope your DC4 waits for a suitably convenient moment to put in an appearance.

Feel as though I'm missing out by not having read 50 shades of grey but with all the negative reviews I'm not sure I will!

florenceuk · 18/06/2012 21:29

it seems like a good time to delurk if only briefly given all the delurkers! Combination of lots of work, putting on weight, plus a conviction that in my wardrobe there is actually nothing to wear has meant that i've put off posting here as I feel a bit of a fraud. Plus the weather - I have too much black and grey and not enough bright trans-seasonal stuff - i have either linen for summer or black for winter, but not anything inbetween that is warm but not black or grey. I suspect I will give up until autumn, but then work will swamp me again.

However thanks for all the links ladies - I love browsing even though my life seems very low on style at the moment. Have bought a bag from NAP here horrible name though! and a couple of jeans from the selfridges sale (although I couldn't track down the £50 Goldsigns, only a £140 pair, I'm happy with my Citizens of Humanity straights). There were loads of Jbrands there inc the grey flowery pair and the blue pieced ones which have been linked here, but a bit too tight on my podgy tum to be honest. And have ordered this Barbour black one I suspect it must have been cold when I ordered this!

Love the blogs and the pinterest boards - could be worth linking regularly here for updates? I wonder if you could get enough hits to justify a commission from NAP and my-wardrobe!

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2012 21:33

Sorry Blue wish you could all know what I am saying by osmosis Grin

But it appears that the area in which we live has become a spot that people bang on doors about as they ride past. (it was on the tv)

Dh and I are feeling good about it (we are easily pleased). But not sure the actual programme is that intriguing to anyone that's not where we are!

Suburban! No I hadn't even heard of it until the other day, and only because of mn. Shamed that the person in it says 'holy crap' Blush Grin

I'm reading Patrick White atm and Georgette Heyer next (very light hearted). Well trying to read it, too much else to do.

I have 2 days free time now. It is the most blissful thing ever.

I do not have a mini-Grace.

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2012 21:35

Agnes in lots of sizes/colours for £79. Worth a look Florenceuk?

Welcome to all delurkers, do stick around - the more the merrier Smile.

blue2711 · 18/06/2012 21:36

After weeks of dithering just bought the j brand floral skinnies. V pleased. Telling myself they'll work for AW. Thanks fritzi and lady on worn out blog for spurring me on.

Fleecy · 18/06/2012 21:37

Ah marsha I love Georgette Heyer Blush

Decameron · 18/06/2012 21:40

Yep, I have a regular black Gracie.

Well done, mini Rufuses. My mother was very strict about reports and study, I used to steam open my reports in advance as the fear of doing badly was too frightening!

Good luck, Looby. Did you decide not to go for the c-section?

Ugh, smear tests. They make you go yearly in the US. Awful.

MiM, I will await your report on the 7s before I make up my mind. I'm going to need Bloss's J Brands too. Did you get your regular size, Bloss? I am usually a 29.

Nice bag, Florence.

Decameron · 18/06/2012 21:42

I love those jeans, Blue. I hesitated too long and they sold out in my size.

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2012 21:42

Ah Fleecy we are free to like now I think Grin

The book shop guy and I had a big ol discussion about how she is a very good writer indeed and has been much maligned all these years. A new wave!

I had to have loads of tests as had some thing a few years ago, and had to do every 6 months. I'm due to go now, I really must.

Fleecy · 18/06/2012 21:50

As a copywriter I always feel bad reading 'light' stuff but it's all my brain can cope with and I find Georgette rather charming! Nice to know it's now approved literature Grin

mrsCB I was looking at the blog and noticed your PA bracelet - I bought a rather fabulous one for MIL's birthday from NAP last year. Very nice!

blossoming · 18/06/2012 21:51

rufus they are gorgeous, so comfortable. I should have taken them off, sent them back and reordered from shopbop, but couldn't take them off. Love them. Will need some longer length tops though, if there's anything wrong with wearing my whistles slinky all. the. time Wink Honestly, no one complains about Mr Chanel whatsisname.
I am sticking with black J brand from now on, with the prefix 9 mrscb. I haven't tried the Majors, no. No stockists round here to have a good rummage unfortunately, hence the pot luck of online buying. Will re order the 912s in shadow from Shopbob soon as mine will need replacing by autumn, and they go really well with my new boots. The leggings don't, well not for me anyway.
It's lovely to see new posters, and infrequent ones popping in. Welcome all. Love new links.
Who can give me a pinterest tutorial?

blossoming · 18/06/2012 21:53

Missed that sorry decam. The lovely mim recommended going down a size in the black ones so I bought a 28. A good fit on me.

Forgot to say, thinking about you looby, and hope everything goes well for you.

MidnightinMoscow · 18/06/2012 21:54

Exciting Looby for you. Can't wait to hear for a birth announcement.

Glad the parcel made it Red. Happy to send more stuff in the future.

Decam I shall report back on the 7's. I am also interested in some James Twiggys in a grey shade too. Will let you know what I find.

Am beyond excitement at my day off tomorrow, have planned outfit and reading material for the train.

Night all.

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2012 21:58

oops!

blossoming · 18/06/2012 22:04

Have fun tomorrow mim. And report back in full!
