Thank you! Maybe something to do with becoming a mum in the last year, I want to treat myself to new clothes and am suddenly interested in knowing my "season"?!!?

Can anyone help? I've posted a few pics on my profile - let me know they are visible!

I dunno, but you're very pretty!

Do you look particularly good with white next to your face? That's one of the ways I was told to recognise I was winter.

Aloha31 · 08/06/2012 09:21

Thank you so much Peri!

You're definitely winter! :-)

Aloha31 · 08/06/2012 09:47

Cool! I though autumn as I'm olive-y skin, but I think I can still be winter.

Are you an expert *tug"?

I do prefer the winter colours!

Am amused at myself for really wanting to know this! I've gone all 90s all of a sudden, "getting my colours done"?!

Any more votes?!

PS If it helps, dark brown hair with red in it, medium/light brown eyes, olive-y skin...

It's what colours look best that puts you in a season. The mumsnet springs group all thought I was a summer til they saw a Photoshop thing of me with the different seasonal colours. I can't afford to get them done properly so went to shopping swatch and am very happy with their analysis. If you Google sci / art and 12 blueprints you should find lots of helpful colour geekery to play with.

Aloha31 · 08/06/2012 12:39

Thank you dundee - great tips! I'm tempted by Shopping Swatch! Anyone else used them?

I couldn't even work out which colour my eyes came under on shopping swatch. Can you go and get your colours done. I used House of Colour who have me as an Autumn. I thought I had very pale skin and mousey brown hair and blue eyes. But I think my skin had a yellow undertone and I have a golden ring (not very noticeable) around my iris.
So I would just get it done. Self diagnosis is really hard. Its worth the money for sure.

Embrace the 90s vibe!

Color me beautiful Ireland is around the corner from where I work... Tempting! Would have to save up!

No, not an expert at all, but got really into it when I had mine done a few years back. I had it done with Colour me beautiful, so no seasons, but from the book I thought I would be an autumn. My hair has a bit of red, copper, in it, my eyes are hazel, and yet I was a very clear winter, or in their classification, deep, cool and clear. You are definitely deep (dark hair, darkish eyes) and you also seem cool, ie suit blues, not oranges.

ZZMum · 08/06/2012 14:47

I would say cool winter as that is my colouring and you look (nothing) like me - similar colouring though.. I would totally get it done - it makes shopping so easy as you can just scan and reject most of the stuff in shops - especially in summer when there is not much about for us winters!

Aloha31 · 08/06/2012 18:12

It's really confusing! Some online questionnaires have me as autumn!

nothingoldcanstay · 08/06/2012 18:48

I think you are pretty too.
However I'm not sure the white and black do much for you. I think the blue dress is too cold although colour seems to suit you better.

Maybe Spring or Autumn? Warm colours I think but apparently "Spring" colours should match your eyes and Autumn are jewel/spice shades. My eyes are often a bit red though !

BloooCowWonders · 08/06/2012 18:50

I think you're a deep summer. Try silver jewellery, and wear plum/ burgundy/ dark teal and see how you look.

Aloha31 · 09/06/2012 07:45

I don't think black does much for me.

This thread is a lovely distraction from life's other more serious issues!

Save money for getting yourself properly analyzed. If you are one of the difficult seasons, Summer or soft anything, you really need the drapes.

I finally had my colors done about a year ago. Money really well spent. I couldn't tell myself whether I was a Summer or Spring. After the initial shock, I've found my best colors: bright red, coral, all shades of denim, navy and clear bluish greens. It's really easy to build a wardrobe around these shades and also wonderful how well everything coordinates.

I still wear lots of black (and look good in it) but compensate with lipstick and eye makeup in my best colors.

orangeandlemons · 09/06/2012 09:10

Can you tell what colours suit you best and go from there?

I've got reddish brown hair, olive skin, and green eyes, yet I'm a summer.

I always knew from about the age of 14 that my lovely rose pink/white checked school unifom suited me. The I realised white suited me.

I would try and work back from what suits you, as all the online things have had me as spring, summer autumn, and winter Hmm

Aloha31 · 09/06/2012 10:16

I don't know what colours suit me! Never thought much about my "look" before nor spent much on clothes. Just bought cheap, practical stuff. Been a mum for a (wonderful) year and thought of dd since then! My old stuff doesn't seem right.

Want to get some nice bits for work so I look professional, and for home so I feel nice and treated! Just me and dd at home (for the past few months) so I don't have loads of time to spend on myself. I thoughtful knowing my "colours" would be fun and save time looking my best!

I think I can get a basic consultation for around £100... Is it worth it in the long run? I end up not wearing much of the cheap stuff I buy.

DonaAna what season are you, out of interest?

clam · 09/06/2012 11:09

It's really bad form to guess someone's season - but I'd say at first glance you'd be a winter!

Something I always find helps is jewellery. Do you look better in silver or gold? All the current modern stuff is silver, and I love it, but being a spring it just looks shite on me unless I have a tan.

DonaAna · 09/06/2012 11:13

Light summer. It was not completely obvious to me, as I also wore a lot of spring colors (and fancied winter colors).

FoxPass · 09/06/2012 11:18

Ah. Your pallet sounds a lot like the colours that suit me but I can't for the life of me work out what I am - summer or winter Hmm I need to save and get it done properly :)

Aloha31 · 09/06/2012 11:32

I wear silver as that's more "in" but don't know if it suits me more than gold. I'm 33 fgs, I should known this!

How much is it to get your colours done properly? It's two different things, isn't it, liking a colour but whether it suits you or not...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/06/2012 12:12

I think you're a Winter. I think I am a Winter too but am never really sure about the 'white next to the face' thing.

I like silver (gold does nothing for me)
Lots of black and greys
White but only when worn with black or grey
Dark reds and purples
Really bright pink
