We had New Look Tall, Dorothy Perkins Tall and now we don't! Ok we have Top Shop Tall still, but only if you travel for miles to a big store and are a teenager! And Long Tall Sally? again you have to travel and it is expensive and most of it a bit "old" for me (43).

Don't get me started on shoes......size 10.....

I know we can shop online, but most of it gets sent back and that costs more! I would just like to be able to buy some size 12 jeans in a 36" inside leg without having to travel 60 miles to Birmingham. Ok, winge over....any suggestions? Is there a long leg in any high street shops that I've missed??

Ooh budge up!
6ft 3-4 .. size 10 feet and 37-38 inside leg

Nightmare!

And yes, have cried in shops before now :(

Eagerly awaits.. erm, someone from a major label noticing this thread and coming to save us all :)

Agree on the long tops to hide my size 16 muffintops lol

AgathaFusty · 25/10/2012 09:03

Oooh, great thread. I would like long tops too - long enough to wear with skinny jeans and go down to upper/mid thigh, not just skim the bottom of my bum so that I spend the day trying to ineffectively hoick them down.

Also, what's with shoe sizing lately - larger sizes have changed so a 41 is now sold as an 8 and not a 7, and the sizes seem to stop there.

Also, why do all shoes appear to come with a minimum of a 3 inch heel, or completely flat? What about something in between?

Also, tops with a band or gathering under the boobs - why does it have to cut straight across them instead of sitting underneath like it should do, even on the tall cut ones (I'm looking at you Next, in particular)?

And, I would like to buy socks for bigger feet in the supermarket like all the shorter people can.

And breathe.....

Can I come back and mention sleeves?! Angry

We have all moaned about trouser length, but what I would REALLY love are long sleeves that reach my wrists... And empire line tips that sit under my (ample) bust...

ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight · 26/10/2012 02:51

Keeping this post bumped because its not the only one i've seen and someone has to come along and see it who can actually do something about it

Grin live in hope

There is a seller on ebay who is based in US and sells lots of Gap clothes, some of it from the tall range, which is not available in UK. I have bought a pair of Gap real straight jeans for something like £30 including postage (although I was charged £16 by the customs). Their tall jeans are 37 inches long. J crew also does brilliant tall range with free delivery to UK and duty free till the end of this year.

AgathaFusty · 26/10/2012 07:40

qwertina - can you link to them?

qwertina · 26/10/2012 08:43

Oh sorry, it's here www.ebay.co.uk/sch/skylerdanny/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686. Just check what US size you are, first time I ordered I didn't and ended up with a pair of jeans two sizes too big :)

kernowgal · 26/10/2012 09:12

Another call for tall ranges... I'm 5'11, size 14/16 with size 9.5 feet.

I'm based in Cornwall and really struggle to find trousers that fit; however I have recently bought a pair of lovely straight-leg jeans from H&M in a 34" leg. I frequently shop in TK Maxx and often the men's rails have Diesel jeans that look just as good on us ladies, plus you're more likely to find longer leg lengths.

No idea if Gap have improved but they stopped doing longer length jeans above a size 14, which completely baffled me - surely you're more likely to be a larger size if you're tall?? We're not all waiflike supermodels!

The size 41 = size 8 thing really yanks my chain. An 8 is a 42. Anyway I did a blog about large-size shoes back in the days when I had money to spend on them, it's at sizeninefeet.blogspot.com and lists lots of large shoe shops.

I too am considering a trip to the States to stock up on clothes and shoes.

qwertina · 26/10/2012 09:16

Just beware kernowgal, lots of the US shops that have a tall range sell them exclusively online.

AgathaFusty · 26/10/2012 09:21

qwertina thanks for the link.

qwertina · 26/10/2012 09:27

No problem, there's much more on ebay, I usually search for something like tall pants+my size and get lots of results. It takes time but it's worth it, I hate trying jeans and trousers on in shops since being a teenager and finding it humiliating that nothing in the shops fits me. I'm very happy to be tall now though :)

kernowgal · 26/10/2012 11:43

Ah good to know qwertina, thanks! I was going for the shoe shopping mainly, if I'm honest - would love a trip to Barefoot Tess in Baltimore!

CloversMama · 26/10/2012 12:02

Argh YES! I am only 5ft 9" but seem to have realllllllly long arms and torso - I would LOVE to buy a cardigan/jumper/long-sleeved top that was actually long enough in the arms and body. I see women in the winter with really cosy looking knitwear and I just know that I would have half my lower arm and stomach hanging out! If anyone can recommend good quality longer length knitwear and long sleeved t-shirts, I would be ETERNALLY grateful.

qwertina · 26/10/2012 12:26

I haven't read the whole thread so not sure if it has been mentioned but I find this blog allthetallthings.com/?page_id=50 very helpful as well.

AgathaFusty · 26/10/2012 12:59

Clovers have you tried Jigsaw knitwear? I've got long arms too, but they seem to do the job. There is an outlet for them near Chester, if you are anywhere near that way. If not, I'm sure they have others elsewhere in the country.
