We had New Look Tall, Dorothy Perkins Tall and now we don't! Ok we have Top Shop Tall still, but only if you travel for miles to a big store and are a teenager! And Long Tall Sally? again you have to travel and it is expensive and most of it a bit "old" for me (43).

Don't get me started on shoes......size 10.....

I know we can shop online, but most of it gets sent back and that costs more! I would just like to be able to buy some size 12 jeans in a 36" inside leg without having to travel 60 miles to Birmingham. Ok, winge over....any suggestions? Is there a long leg in any high street shops that I've missed??

Joining in...
I'm 6ft, size 14, 8 shoe. Its bloody awful. I buy jeans at Top Shop, dresses at DP, occasional bit a New Look. Plus the Next Outlet shop does some Tall pieces.

Yes, there are shops out there that cater for us - but most shops aren't stocking them in store anymore. Gone are the days when I could pop out at lunchtime to find something new for the evening.

All these shops and many more have specific Petite ranges. It drives me nuts! Angry

Northumberlandlass · 05/06/2012 19:21

And a 33" inside leg is not long!!

Chandon · 05/06/2012 20:18

Maybe a good reason for an occasional shopping trip to Amsterdam, where women are more Amazonian in size! Wink

creamsoda · 06/06/2012 09:46

joining as well...
Size 12/14...5'9" (34" inside leg jeans for flats, 36" for heels :)...size 9 feet (boooo) and 28 weeks pg!
Am intrigued by the mention of great shops in Aus... have been in Adelaide for 2 years and still order from good old New Look/LTS/Topshop as haven't found any trousers/jeans here (find they are either way too low hung or Granny style, baggy bum and tapered ankle!)
So where are you ladies finding long stuff and big shoes down under?! I know Target does Size 11 shoes (why can't shoe sizes be the same as UK? 11 sounds even worse!) but not a mahoosive fan of the plastic shoe (esp in summer!)
Don't get me started on maternity AND tall... only luck I had was Next Extra Long Maternity from Ebay! Other than that it's ankle swingers, so stylish with the extra weight Wink

SoupDragon · 06/06/2012 11:45

"And a 33" inside leg is not long!!"

It is when the standard seems to be 30.

SoupDragon · 06/06/2012 11:47

"Don't get me started on maternity AND tall"

I give you Esprit

creamsoda · 06/06/2012 12:13

... and in return I give you the fact they don't deliver to Aus Grin

FerrisBueller1972 · 06/06/2012 12:13

I was just having a moan to a friend about the sudden disappearance of tall clothes in the high street type shops. I'm 6ft, a 12 with size 6 feet. Shoes no problem but the heels nowadays are so high that I feel slightly ridiculous wearing them! I hate buying trousers/jeans online as inevitably they get sent back. There is a niche in the market here but there can't be enough of us by the looks of things Angry Grin

SoupDragon · 06/06/2012 13:06

Yes, I had twigged that you were a furriner :)

paddingtonbear1 · 06/06/2012 13:40

mumandtwo, some of the petite ranges have disappeared too - the supermarkets don't seem to do them anymore. I can't buy many children's clothes as I'm short but not that petite!

thinkfast · 06/06/2012 14:21

Maybe m and s depends on the style. I'm wearing some of their trousers today with heels and they're dragging on the floor. I'm 5'8"

StrawberrytallCAKE · 06/06/2012 14:34

Hello! Signing in too - preggo and tall

soupdragon thank you for that!

I think there is a definite niche, even smaller girls have big feet too so a lower heel but still glamorous range would be interesting. All tall specific companies seem to be so frumpy and don't accentuate the best parts of being tall, I want graceful beautiful well made clothes in quality fabrics. I would also like some longer length cashmere jumpers with long sleeves and mini skirts that are shaped properly.

MashedPoetaytoe · 06/06/2012 15:07

Agree on arm lengths and frumpyness.

River island do long length tops but fail on the trouser front.

H+M did a mama range.

Lots of sports clothes like mountain range and simply sport life are long in leg and arm.

Oz shoes Blush nabbed of my mum.

I want smart shift dresses/buisness clothes and boots/kitten heels.

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2012 15:11

Can I join the moan-in?

I'm only 5'8", but I really only buy trousers from Gap because the long is just about long enough.

Yes, where do you get joggers which are long in the leg? I have to wear mine right down on my hips with a pair of shorts underAngry

MashedPoetaytoe · 06/06/2012 15:18

sorry nc'd was hrhdirona.

Erm, my jogging pants are by Karrimor and pure simple sport.

Longsleeved tops by mountainlife active.

tallwivglasses · 06/06/2012 23:17

I'm not alone! Another one here who feels like an overgrown alien when clothes shopping. I wear trousers tucked into boots in the winter and mid-calf length with sandals in the summer.

I'm not sure I believe the Primark promise. Even their mens' long length is too short for me. The thing is, four decades ago I felt like a giant amongst teeny people. Nowadays I look around and there's loads of us tall women about. Why aren't we catered for?

Northumberlandlass · 07/06/2012 08:40

Gap have 30% off code valid till Sat (GAPSTYLE) - I've ordered some jeans 35" inside leg. I won't be able to wear heels with them but I'll survive Smile

Chandon · 07/06/2012 09:06

what, Gap do 35 inside leg now????

dumbelina · 07/06/2012 09:19

Evans do larger sized shoes (not just wide fittings). Bit weird as I'm quite sure most larger ladies have standard sized feet, and those of us with bigger feet are not necessarily size 16+ ? Friend of mine has some lovely shoes from there and she is a 9

Northumberlandlass · 07/06/2012 09:19

The long & lean Chandon - they aren't skinnies x

mumandtwo · 07/06/2012 10:09

A few good tips from everyone! Didn't know about PRIMARK doing long length, so thanks for that harrogatemum, will check them out. Someone mentioned ASDA too, worth a look. I do use TALL GIRLS sometimes, though their stuff has gone up in price since they started by quite a lot. I?ve had some shoes from there (size 10), but the sizing is very hit and miss and I end up spending loads on return postage. Will also check out M&S long length, you never know!
Yes, kitten heels would be great!! At 6?2?, I already feel enormous, but a small kitten heel would make me feel a bit more feminine and some clothes just do not look right with flats do they?
TALL GIRLS do ?pop-up? shops sometimes, but only in London, so I phoned them and asked if they would do one in Birmingham or Manchester, they said they haven?t any plans to, but if enough people asked, they might, so worth giving them a ring maybe? 01420 561947
BRANTANO do shoes up to size 10, I bought some lovely red flats ballerina style for £18, not worn them yet, but I think most of us would agree, when you are tall or have big feet, you just buy stuff that fits when you come across it and just wait til you manage to get other stuff to go with it. That sounds quite sad, but I guess it makes us more inventive than others!!!!
I used to go to India to buy clothes that I sold online (not Tall), and got myself some lovely cotton trousers made up in lots of gorgeous colours very cheaply, maybe that?s a good excuse to go again!! Anyone fancy a trip to Goa??????!!!!!

bigTillyMint · 07/06/2012 10:27

tallwivgalsses that is so true - I was the tallest in my year at school at 5'8" and now I have lots of friends my height and several a lot taller. And DS who is just under the 90th centile on the charts is one of the smaller ones in his classConfused

Conversely, DD is petite with long legs....

I didn't realise Primarnidoes tall stuff (although their vest tops are nice and long) - I must go and browse more carefully!

HarrogateMum · 07/06/2012 10:27

Infact I am wearing Primark skinnies today, and they are even a bit too long! I will try and post a pic on my profile so you can see it and believe it!!

HarrogateMum · 07/06/2012 10:35

have posted but it's sideways, hopefully you will get the idea!

mmmmmchocolate · 07/06/2012 10:35

Has anyone looked on the 'VERY' site? They sell South Tall clothes. Really big selection and pretty cheap. Sort of an inbetween age from New Look to LTS.

New Look sent me a link to a survey last week all about what I thought of the tall range so hopefully they're thinking of expanding it?

I realise that both of these things are online but we don't seem to have the option anymore :( TBH I've just started to wear tall jeans which are cheap enough on eBay and tunic style tops.
