Expensive smelling perfumes...

Was out for lunch today with a friend and she was wearing a perfume that just smelt expensive, luxurious and just gorgeous. Forgot to ask her what it was but just wanted to know what you would consider an expensive perfume smell?

I bet you 20 pence that it was a Guerlain perfume she was wearing - they have the most intense scents. I love Guerlain, esp l'Heure Bleu and Shalimar.

Fracas, its a bit strong but smells divine. At least one person a day comments on it.

Only Chanel no 19 here. Smells expensive because it is! But worth it.

Love Crystal, Lancôme O, no 5 and Coco v sophisticated.

Estée Lauder perfumes give me headaches and make me feel sick....yuck!

Black Orchid by Tom Ford. I've been told it smells expensive - and it bloody is!

I love estee lauder perfumes-I actually think they are good value for money as this sillage is amazing.

Guerlain make my favourite perfumes though-samsara,shalimar and mitsouko-I think they smell very expensive.

I wear coco and coco mademoiselle but the ones that get commented on most are Knowing by Estee Lauder and Chloe Narcisse, which is a very good value perfume. I love it.

I also miss fendi. It really did smell expensive. I also vote chanel
Chance. It's my daytime perfume. My evening perfume is Paloma Picasso and that gets comments and queries practically every time I wear it.

I also wear knowing and chloe narcisse pew I love very strong perfumes so can also reccomend-Boudoir and Naughty alice by vivienne westwood and Agent provocateur-the original one is the best imo.

I just bought a bottle of palamo picasso today!-£20 in the perfume shop at the moment.

Allure by Chanel, Flowerbomb by viktor and Rolf and flora by Gucci all smell expensive.

Tiffany the jewellers perfume is georgeous, but not cheap.

anniewoo I adore Virgin Island Water. My (extremely generous) MIL bought me a bottle for my birthday a couple of years ago - perfect Summer smell.

New York body spray by Marks and Spencer smells pretty darned expensive (imo) and it is only a few pounds.

Love the idea of scents that smell of money - not literally, of course (because cash, esp. notes, often smells a bit fetid) but in that F. Scott fitzgerald sense (Daisy's voice having money in it).

Lynette - do you have a SpaceNK near you? I'm sure they stock Black Orchid.

Annick Goutal Ninfeo Mio smells subtle and expensive

I like Almost Bare by Bobbi Brown, and it often get commented on - it is very subtle though.

I agree about the Estee Lauder perfumes - I LOVE Bronze Goddess and IMO it smells more expensive than it is.

I think HoF stock Tom Ford Lynette.

Not sure what OP means by expensive smelling. I reckon what smells "expensive" is pretty subjective. For me I think rich orientals smell more expensive. I always feel pretty classy and grown up in Coco by Chanel.

I think pretty much all of the Annick Goutal perfumes smell classy and gorgeous. I agree with someone else who said Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir.

Perfume is so much about personal taste though. What smells good on one person smells vile on another.
