Do you wear a sunhat?

I've been wearing a straw hat in the garden the last couple of days but wouldn't wear it out. I've always fancied a nice one though especially after seein Rene Russo wearing one in the thomas crowne affair (in fact I love all the syle in that film)

So do you and what kind?

I have quite a collection of sun hats; all tending to the wide brim, and in black, white, khaki or red. However this is Australia, where sun hats aren't looked at askance, nor is wearing sunglasses in winter.

Yes, and it is the difference between being out in the sun and staying indoors all day! It is a straw hat but reasonably smart. Straw hats are the only ones that I've found to have a rigid enough wide brim, if that makes sense? I'm really bad in the sun.

I wore one over the weekend and usually do when out all day in the park. But I wish I had it now for my lunchtime walk.

I've recently been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma on my nose. It's not really dangerous but it is growing fast & will be removed end of June - in the meantime it seems to be growing at an alarming rate. I will have a scar in middle of my face :(

It is probably caused by not wearing a hat in the sun, and not wearing sunscreen on my face often enough, when I was a teenager.

I have a rather big head so it is rare to find a hat that fits.

If you are large of head (I am! Can never find a hat in the ladies' section, and struggle to find one in the mens'), Tilley has hats in a wide range of sizes. They're pricey but worth the investment, even if you don't have a big head.

I wear a hat all the time in the sun as I'm very fair and burn terribly. I have lots of different ones from giant red straw, through cricket hat, bush hat to uv fabric bucket.

I have a large head (7 3/8), so ladies hats don't fit me.

Sometimes, but my favourite one has shrunk in the wash and is very tight now, it's cotton and I've had it for years, so I'm looking for a replacement.

Fran, I've been told off for using it too! :0 When I typed it, in my head I was using a silly voice. Sorry.

I've got a reversible one from Gap, which is cotton on one side and jazzy towelling print on the other. I look like England's biggest toddler, but it does the job for dog walking.

By hate do you mean they look silly on you so you won't wear them or hate them full stop so even on other people?

I need a hat. I suit wide brims and have an average size head. The one I've been wearing cost in a euron on a kosova market 3 years ago. The brim is fine but the crown is too rounded. I need to get up the guts to wear a hat because they actually don't look too bad on me. Hmm hat shopping

I also wear a sun hat, it's a cowboy style one with a big brim. I doubt the Style & Beauty lot would like it but I'm very pale skinned and can burn in 5 minutes or less in this weather. I don't give a stuff what people think I look like, my skin is far more important to me than strangers' opinions!

I thought I'd seen that wide brimmed hat somewhere. I very early bought it last year but chickened out because of the odd back view. I wasn't sure if it was a bit elderly looking. Should I just go for it?
