ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH of your horrible elasticated floral shitbags.
i hate these things

ElectricSoftParade · 27/05/2012 16:55

Rather like them myself.

thestringcheesemassacre · 27/05/2012 16:58

yes not a fan myself.
but its ill fitting vest tops I save my ire for. Jesus wept.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 16:59

OP posts:
thestringcheesemassacre · 27/05/2012 17:02

boob spillage

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:03

What is wrong with maxi dresses? I'm tall and slim and wore mine yesterday and thought it looked fine. I have just been to visit a (slim) friend and she looked lovely in her maxi dress as well.

They cover up a multitude of sins and I will wear mine all summer if the weather continues like this.

Or is it jealousy?

SleepyFergus · 27/05/2012 17:26

Bunbaker, you forgot to add your smug emoticon....

Bumperlicious · 27/05/2012 17:31

So what are we supposed to be wearing in this heat? I am currently wearing leggings and a vest top which I am too fat for seeing as DD2 has vomitted on most of my clothes.

Bunbaker · 27/05/2012 17:33

OK. Smug emoticom here Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/05/2012 17:34

Oh just bod off with your maxi hatred Wink

I was called a 'goddess' in mine on Friday so there Wink

Tis slim fitting jersey though - no elastication going on here . . .

IslaValargeone · 27/05/2012 17:35

Since when did being slim and having the ability to wear a maxi dress without looking like a bag of shite become 'smug'?
Methinks Bunbaker wasn't too far off the mark.

cybbo · 27/05/2012 17:37

I saw a gal in a black jersey column maxi yesterday and she looked chic.

HOWEVER

I also saw a gal in a floral empire line smocked elasticated boob tubed nightmare who looked like a galleon in full sail. PLUS bolero cardigan

The ones with thin , mean straps that dig into red shoulders are awful too

bibbitybobbitybunny · 27/05/2012 17:37

Loathe cotton maxi dresses as daywear! Is it 3 years they've been around now?

Otoh, I'd love to see more long dresses being worn for evening wear. Z-list celebs in bandage dresses please take note.

IslaValargeone · 27/05/2012 17:38

Jersey column maxis are fab.

jazzchickens · 27/05/2012 17:38

lumbago - where is all this hatred of maxi dresses coming from?

Are you too short petite to wear one?

Grin
cybbo · 27/05/2012 17:38

They fool bigger gals into thinking they look slimmer

WRONG

Too much fabric

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/05/2012 17:39

Lumbago has always hated maxi dresses - tis because she has good legs so its daisy dukes for her Wink

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/05/2012 17:40

As with everything you need to get the right cut and style for your shape and size.

Strapless concern me for daywear but that's because I have small children who would undoubtedly yank it down.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 27/05/2012 17:41

Anyone remember that thread where we were moaning about maxi dresses and this poster came on and said "well, I think I look alright in mine" and she posted a photo ... and she was absolutely stunning, seriously looked a million dollars. That shut us up!

jazzchickens · 27/05/2012 17:42

Oh yes, wearing a strapless maxi and climbing a flight of stairs requires great skill.

landofsoapandglory · 27/05/2012 17:43

I like my maxi dresses, they are so cool. I have been wearing maxi skirts and long vest tops too. I don't have back fat or boob spillage and have seen a lot worse sights,so there!

IslaValargeone · 27/05/2012 17:44

I don't look dissimilar to the photo in the link that noddy gave.
laughs in maniacally deluded manner after too much Pimms

MrsBovary · 27/05/2012 17:44

I have one, and it's lovely, so comfortable and floaty. It can also prove quite impractical, all that fabric.

get0rfm0iland · 27/05/2012 17:45

lol at floral shitbags.

I too have spent the last four years at LEAST bemoaning this fucking godawful trend. I blame Sienna Miller. All that boho chic.

And those jersey things do NOT cover a multitude of sins. Some people do like nice in them but they would look lots nicer in something else.

Bastarding things. Please god next year they will be out of fashion and these viscose monstrosities will be gorn.
