How far is your bottom rib from your pelvic bone?

Misread a post on the blazer thread that said 10 inches.
I've got a 2" gap between rib and hip and DD2 the same. No waist and enormous ribs.(Yes I was a swimmer). I think we are now called 'parsnips' :o makes a change from carrots!

At 5' 2" I'm way shorter than both of my parents. I have about 1/2" gap. I think this is probably the reason. I'm bendy enough front to back but have never been able to bend sideways as ribs and pelvis are nearly touching when I'm upright. I struggle to maintain a visible waist whereas my ribs are quite prominent.

I'm 5 ft 10 - about 7 inches at the side and over 10 at the front. I'm long bodied and long legged .

I can't believe there are people with only a 2 inch gap!
I have 2 children. I wonder if this has made some difference?

At the side I'm 2" (I'm 155cm). Luckily for me I do dip in a bit at the side, so I think I've got a waist!

About 6" difference. I do have a waist. I can't work out if I am short or long bodied but I do know some tops look awful on me (big boobs too.)

So the gap provides the waist?

About 2-3". I'm a short-waisted hourglass with about 10" difference between my waist and hips, just go in and out very quickly.

I'm 5ft9 and size 12.

I have a less than 1inch gap on the side. I'm slimish but with a tendency to apple shaped and have very long slim legs. May sound nice on paper but it's an absolute nightmare to find any sumner dresses that look any good :(. Also my legs are too skinny from the knees down. People think I'm showing off when i say i can't find any dresses that look right but it really is true :(

On the plus side, jeans do look good with long lengs. Specially straight leg ones :)

And I'm 5'6"

4.5inches at side and 9 inches at front. I always thought I had a short body as well!! Lol.
I don't really have a waist though as my hips are really narrow.

Measuring from my anterior superior iliac spine vertically till I hit rib just under 5 inches.

Long body and long legs. I put on weight above my hips like a shelf but as there is quite a gap I still have a waist higher up. I have only ever seen my body shape accurately described on one blog and now I can't find it.

I don't really have a waist - I have a big rib cage compared to the rest of my frame and narrow hips but quite short chunky legs and bum. 2 inch gap. My body is long and if I try to buy any dress that sits on the natural waist - ie a shirt dress or a belted dress they always end on my ribs and look awful. I'm more of a rectangular pear.

My DD who is two seems to have more curvy hips and what looks like it will be quite a defined waist but a droopy little bottom (my MIL - has this sort of figure - long back, hourglass). My own mum is an apple with big boobs and amazing legs - she is 74 but her legs look like they belong on a teenager.

Front or side?

I'm 5'9 and have 8.5 inches at the front and....5 or 6 inches on the side. I take an annoying non size 33 inch leg as well, so maybe I am just long all over.

Maybe it's a height thing?

About an inch and a half, at the very most I'm sure they bump into one another when I bend to the side! And no, I do not appear to have a waist. I'm 5ft 3 and a half.

At the side, 5 inches. I don't know what it means –does a bigger gap mean a long waist?

about 4.5 inches. I am only 4' 11'' and have tiny legs, a 26'' inside leg. I am overweight (by a lot) but i have a good waist

6 inches at 5'5. I definitely have a waist and feel roughly proportionate but prefer higher waisted trousers, skirts and jeans. I'm an hour glass shape with big boobs and wide hips so if I don't define my waist in an outfit you probably wouldn't notice it was there!

Oh, and I'm 5' 10" and a size 6–8. Very slim round the ribs/torso flat-chested. I've always thought I had long legs and a long waist, but looking at some of your measurements I don't really have either.

From the closest points (on my side, from lowest rib to highest point of hip), I probably have an inch or two. I'm 5'3 with a broad rib cage and pelvis for my height - I'm a mesomorph type, and when slim I have a waist, but that's mostly created by the giant rib cage. I also have wide set boobs.

I am hypermobile and my sacroileac joint sometimes gets jammed in the wrong position. When that happens, the gap between my ribs and hip seems to disappear entirely. I'm heavily pregnant at the moment and I look enormous in pregnancy because there's no space in my abdomen for the baby to hide! I always think that long waisted women have much less obvious bumps.

I only have one finger width at the side, so less than an inch. I am pear shaped and have a small waist but that is because I have a very narrow ribcage.

I have long legs and a very short body. DH is the same height but short legs and long body. We constantly fight about the position of the driver's seat in the car, I put it right up high so I can see over the steering wheel, he has to put it right down or his head hits the roof. Up, down, up, down, up, down, poor car will wear out soon

DD has 4 of my finger widths at the side and she is only 3 years old. Looks like she will take after DH she can share a car with him when she is older and I will have a motorbike

Mine is around 9-10cm. How can people with just a 1" gap bend over?! If you sit down, do your bones crunch

No gap My bottom rib is exactly the same level as my hip bone. I'm 5' 6", so if my BMI starts edging anywhere near 19 I start to resemble a balloon on stilts...
