Hi all!

Sorry about the rain/hairdo situation Hopefully.

I am eating G and Bs Mint dark choc as I write Verity.

Bloody cold here. And wet.

Was out of there as soon as it got light decam!
I mentioned the meet up to dh, he said it better not be on the 10th (he struggles with me going away overnight, I thought I'd better give him a few months warning - he however is away again tonight, it is averaging one a week at the moment). Anyway, I felt like a rabbit caught in the headlights thinking whose birthday/anniversary I had forgotten, but phew, it's only autumn internationals rugby. But I can't make it on the 10th is the end of the story.

Isn't the Matches packaging just divine? The jumper arrived, and I almost kept it on. I am new to cashmere. It was gorgeous. However the wrong shade of grey. The one that really doesn't suit me. Made even more clear when I went to put on the White Co charcoal with metallic stripe Christmas jumper I am currently living in afterwards. Hey ho, better luck with the dress hopefully.

Happy memories I hope pickled. So sorry to hear of your loss.

Forgot to say that all is well again in bloss land with my hair restored by aussie mega shampoo and the finding of my chanel rouge coco ballet russe lipstick. Such a great shade. I forget why I don't wear it every day.

OllieinOrange · 30/04/2012 18:55

Queens Day here. Band currently playing r&b songs underneath a big tree at the end of our road. Temporary bar keeping everyone happy too. I wore an orange jumper ( Gap fine knit one) as is custom on Queens Day - until 3pm when i saw a photo of myself and quickly ran inside to change - orange is so not my colour!
Had a lovely but busy day. Amazing weather here. Made quite a bit selling stuff at the childrens market, so nice to get rid of old toys and tat. DSs appear to have brought a fair bit of tat themselves tho Hmm. Gotta go, they are playing Rolling Stones - time to shake my thing on the dancefloor with DH!

notyummy · 30/04/2012 19:11

So sorry to hear about your mum Pickled.

Glad that Queen's Day is going well Ollie - sounds like such good fun!

Decameron and Bloss - DH positively relishes me going away for the weekend or overnight. I do it 4 or 5 times a year and he loves the chance to play unlimited PS3 when DD is in bed, watch old episodes of Buffy and order a mammoth pizza. To be fair, they generally do stuff together in the day and the house is always spotless when I get back so everyone's a winner. He gets a geek fix, and I get to socialise!

OP posts:
Decameron · 30/04/2012 19:18

NY, it is more that he finds the DDs hard work than misses me :o (although they are actually very easy children but he doesn't realise it), hopefully when they are a little older I can escape more! Meant to say, your skirt sounds lovely. I like In Wear.

The Matches packaging is fabulous. My boots came in a lovely big box. I am storing DD1's jumpers in it under her bed now. Looks nice in her room.

Glad you had a good day, Ollie. Orange is not my colour either!

Emo76 · 30/04/2012 19:35

Agree with you all, WIT is clearly expecting! Perhaps we could offer job share maternity coverage for her amazing glam career....

happy queens day Ollie (in Orange..)

rufus101 · 30/04/2012 19:43

Totally agree about the Matches packaging. I too have a box under the bed in spare room with summer tees (clearly no use for them at the moment).
Sounds like good fun Ollie, a pleasant way to get through Monday.
The painters have painted the hall. I'm "not sure" and having a wobble now about the rest of the colours. I love actual colour and don't do whites etc so it's always a big risk. They're stones and browns this time but I think there's too much pinkness/ lilac in the brown in the hall. Awaiting DHs verdict. DD is heaping scorn on it. She's only 8 though so what does she know?

notyummy · 30/04/2012 19:53

Decameron- to be fair, DH has only looked after two kids on his own overnight once. And they were both 4, so more open to reason/bribery Grin. I do love my Inwear skirt- I bought it last year but will see if I can find a link. It is navy with a floral pattern.

Sadly, I don't think I will be able to make a Dublin MU, although it sounds lovely due to small baby, too many DC and expense! :(

Sorry to hear that you are putting in so many hours annie. Pleased that the weekend went okay. I'm sure your DH is more than capable. :)

pickled- sorry to hear about the sad loss of your mum.

ants- I'm pleased you liked the earrings. So sorry for your sad loss too. I will remember yours and bloss's advice in case anything so tragic happens to a close friend of mine. When I see a patient who has had a similar loss of whose baby is unwell, I always feel myself welling up and hope they don't notice.

On a happier note, WIT is clearly expecting!

Has anyone seen the new Gap clothes in the flesh? Some of the look quite nice.

dress reminds me of Whistles a bit.
like this but probably not on me

Last two links don't seem to be working. Was looking at "print drapey tie dress' and 'cap sleeved shirt dress'

MarshaBrady · 30/04/2012 20:58

Gosh it's hard to post, in essence;

Pickled so sorry to hear of your sad loss xx

Annie how are you doing? sending good vibes until you are on the other side.

Looby lovely stuff, I couldn't see it all but like the blazer.

WIT looks lovely!

And NaP who knew it looked like that? Big. I imagine some packers and a phone line. It's huge.

Quite fancy a cape for next season. Person below NaP office.

Hopefully · 30/04/2012 21:11

Phew, managed to alter meeting friends at soft play plans at the last minute to fabulous(and free) outdoor farm/park/woodland place nearby. Had a wonderful time in bluebell woods going on 'stick hunts' (I think this maybe DS1's less intrepid version of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt') and playing with animals. Much much better than lugging DS2 round soft play after DS1.

Bloss I love the Matches packaging too - it was doubly hard sending back the Marant boots earlier in the year because it meant parting with the lovely box!

Ollie poor you in the orange. You need to move to a country with cooler toned royal colours Grin. I, on the other hand, would look awesome celebrating the Dutch royal family - it's one of my best colours.

SE pencil skirt + cycling = guaranteed splittage.

Rufus wait to see what you think in daylight too, before deciding you hate it. My mother is the queen of changing her mind on paint colours, often the cause of much mocking in our family. I slightly burned our living room down once (don't ask) and the subsequent (off white) repaint went through about five iterations before she was satisfied.

ReineDeSaba · 30/04/2012 21:34

Evening ladies..can I just out myself as a ginger lover too..I was gutted I missed your big convo last week..I have already almost come to blows over 'ownership' of Damien Lewis with red

I'm afraid you have all lost the tricky playdate contest..ours this a.m culminated in first a giant wee all over a toddler chair and then a poo in the centre of the living room(neither belonged to my child)..thank goodness for wooden floors.

Matches packaging is lush but the p and p is more than anyone elses so I guess it should be.

ollie well done on donning the orange despite as yummy says the colour crimes committed!

I really hope WIT is pregnant,I made that mistake with a patient early on in my career and would not hint at pregnancy even when they looked full term for fear of getting it wrong again!

I hope I can do Ireland but won't make it if it's Thanksgiving weekend as we always throw a huge affair.(weekend after 3rd thursday in the month,I think, moma will know!)

loving your childrens' musical choices..mine like old skool rave..aciiiiid!!!!

have great evenings everyone,I am off to scoff pralines and cream haagan daaz

ApuskiMcClusky · 30/04/2012 21:53

Evening lovely people!

Pickled, sorry to hear about your mum. I know from DH that 3 or 4 years is next to no time when it comes to losing a parent. Hugs to you. And also thanks again for your interview outfit hunting! I did love the green Maxmara dress (in my ideal world I think my working wardrobe would be entirely made up of DVF, Maxmara and Joseph!)

I think I've drifted away from buying something new - it's not a super smart office environment, nor is where I am currently, so I'm not sure I'd get full use out of a super smart interview outfit after the interview. So either my Maxmara dress or the IO dress (thanks for reminding mr Everything!).

I have also just realised that I will be in London on my own with an afternoon to myself on Thursday after the interview is finished, so I've just started to plan how to make the most of it! If anyones around in central London on Thursday give me a shout!

Hopefully, sounds like a lovely afternoon!

Red, does your tutoring start this week? Hope the preparation has been going well, I'm sure you'll be fab.

I broached the subject of Dublin with DH, and he wasn't thrilled - more I think because we haven't ever been, and he'd rather we went together sometime. Will have to see.

Russianred · 30/04/2012 21:54

Evening all!

Queens day sounds like a lot of fun Ollie. We need more things to celebrate with such gusto over here. I fear we (collectively, as a nation) wouldn't rise to the challenge though.

Pickled sorry for your loss Thanks.

Bloss I was talking about the JB dress - can completely see how that is one of your best colours.

Reine an excellent, excellent idea. I can't wait to see how it all develops (fantastically, I think). That sounds like an, um, interesting playdate. For the record, Damien's mine Wink.

DS is into power ballads and gay anthems. He keeps on singing The Edge of Glory at the top of his lungs after watching a bit of The Voice with me last week. Loves it.

It's a no from me for the Dublin MU; largely for financial reasons. Things may change depending on what happens for me work-wise. Hope things happen and I can make it, as I would very much like to.

I had my first tutoring sessions today and really enjoyed them; I've got plenty to be getting on with and it's forcing me to fine-tune my teaching skills. The faffage involved with getting both DC to and from their respective childcare solutions was deeply unsettling though.

Russianred · 30/04/2012 21:56

Apuski that was remiss of me to forget your interview; fingers crossed it all goes well for you on Thursday. I like wearing things I already own to interviews; I feel like I'm representing myself, rather then the self I think I am, if that makes sense. But you probably know a lot more about all that than I do, so I shall be quiet!

ApuskiMcClusky · 30/04/2012 22:04

Cheers me dear. You're right, I'll feel better in something I already have.

ApuskiMcClusky · 30/04/2012 22:06

Glad the tutoring went well! Was the childcare unsettling with having to leave them, or with the complex logistics?

Russianred · 30/04/2012 22:10

Complex logisitcs; the two of them loved it and each refused to leave their childcare places. Have worked out a way to make it a bit easier that I shall put into place for Wednesday. Just lots of in and out of the car and rushing to one place, then the next, then the next.

Decameron · 30/04/2012 22:12

Good luck, Apuski!
Glad your tutoring went well, Red.
Reine, the little boy we had over on Friday hit DD1 in front of me this morning. For no reason. He is never coming to our house again.

blossoming · 30/04/2012 22:18

Good luck with the interview apuski. What about your IO dress?
Glad the tutoring went well red and hope things sort themselves out with the childcare. I love that JB dress. It is so lovely. Keep looking out for things called 'azure blue', yet it feels wrong to buy it in winter!

blossoming · 30/04/2012 22:21

X post decam, that is truly awful. And the toiletting accident at yours reine. Give me Yr 9 bottom set any day over a play date!

VerityBrulee · 30/04/2012 22:22

Hello all Smile We just got back from a fab weekend of wedding celebrations in West Cork, great fun and the rain held off. Lots of ladies shivering in pretty dresses though, and I swear I will never wear those Manolos again, ouch and double ouch. I said I would ebay them, but dd persuaded me to keep them for her, and tbh she is much better at waking in heels that me Grin

V v excited at prospect of Dublin meet up, have pm'd NY and will be onto the hotel research this week. I know cost can be a factor in these things esp late in the year, so will see what's around in different price ranges. Less £ on hotels = more to spend on shoes and all that.

Sorry not to catch up properly but am about to fall into bed!

FritziGreenEyes · 01/05/2012 01:08

Back from night out with two of my friends. Recovering from dancing and talking and drinking by eating salami and cheese straight from the fridge. Smile We have a bank holiday tomorrow, hooray!

Portia4 · 01/05/2012 07:08

That sounds like a great evening Fritzi.

Well done on the tutoring Red, hopefully you and the others will make it to Dublin.

Best of luck with the interview Apuski, I find that wearing clothes that I am comfortable in stops me 'fixing' them and makes me more comfortable.

So sorry to hear about your loss Pickled.

We still haven't seen any sunshine here, so am still sporting my winter woolies!

I bought a really sweet dark charcoal cardi in Jack Wills on sunday, it's got large sequin discs on it and would be nice for going out. I also got a pair of Seven for mankind skinnies in dark indigo with a very subtle mottled pattern on them.

Hope that all have a nice day Smile
