New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Are you all hungover? Grin

Stropps and I thought of you last night as we compared stories about being left alone in pub gardens or carparks with a glass of Corona fizzy orange and a packet of Golden Wonder as children while the grown ups got pissed inside.

motherinferior · 09/06/2012 11:42

I am NOT hungover Shock how dare you think of such a thing? I am still, however, thinking longingly of the little 'mini-dougnuts' [sic] with a pot of dipping choc sauce Herbs and I had for pudding.

MrsS, DD1 is now locked in e-contact again with your DD2 Grin. And you must, must give her teacher that biscuit tin!

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2012 12:06

No hangover here - we were far too restrained (you MUST come to the next one MrsSWink)

ruby, did you get home OK? As the bus-drivers mate?Grin

Wish I had been there!

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/06/2012 20:36

Oh and it rained this afternoon. We got caught out on the Boulevard St Germain and had to dash into a bar for some wine a nice cup of tea until it stopped.

Yes Stropps, where are you?
I actually managed to get the laundry out yesterday to dry and this morning it looks nice too. Still feel absolutely whacked though.

ruby, my sympathies. I am not looking to Friday, when DD comes back from school journey - like a whole week of sleepovers

But the baby pink and lime green ensemble could be quite becoming on StroppsSmile

BD, house buyers like buses - none for ages and then two come along at once! Fingers crossed.

DH is in bed, nursing either a hangover (we had friends round last night) or sun-stroke - he got rather red watching DS's footy tournament yesterdayConfused

herbaceous · 10/06/2012 13:05

Hello crepesters

Brief respite between two third birthday parties, with the chance to consume something other than cake. DS has just been sobbing from his cot 'I don't need to have a snooze', and has instantly fallen asleep.

A very restrained evening was had by all on Friday. I was quite up for another bottle, but was restrained by my rather more refined company. It was nice, being able to hear everyone at the table without the use of an ear trumpet.

motherinferior · 10/06/2012 13:28

Next time, Herbs, I will definitely be up for another!

Met beauty journalist friend last night who gave me bag of various skincare items including serum made from snails Shock

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/06/2012 13:58

SNAILS?!

From the slimy snail trail or the actual snaily thing?
I would have helped you with another bottle, Herbs. Next time!

Why has no-one done any washing or washing up in my absence? And what have they been eating? The fridge is suspiciously full.

I have made Mars Bar Rice Krispie Cake this afternoon and am about to make some apple and cinnamon brownies to use up the rotting apples from the fruit bowl.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/06/2012 14:00

Oh and DD2's hair, after a week in Brittany, swimming and sailing, resembles one enormous matted dreadlock. I have banished her to the bathroom with some extra rich conditioner to try and get the worse of it out, before I attack it with the comb and hurt her.

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2012 14:39

Snails? Yuk. Though DD is quite happy to eat themHmm

Oh yes Herbs, had forgotten about your birthday party marathon!

DH is now up and watching tennis. DS helped DD (who was moaning/whining big time) to pack her bag for school journey and she is now trying to win my affections to get some spending money out of me...

motherinferior · 10/06/2012 14:46

You will all be agog at my molluscular loveliness next time we meet. I shall trail sweep in stickily aglow, and you will be begging me for snailiness, ho yes you will.

Am meant to be marking. Losing will to live.

motherinferior · 10/06/2012 14:47

OTOH the faaaaaaaaaaabulous French pharmacy cleanser MrsS dropped into my bag of daughterly castoffs is utterly marvellous. I love it.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/06/2012 17:32

It is a good one, isn't it, MI? My blingy blog friend describes it as the holy grail of cleansers.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 10/06/2012 21:55

I wrote the most MASSIVE post and the internet ate it. Damn.

I shall endeavour to be at the next crepey meetup and lower the tone - it sounds as though you had a very civilised time . Grin

I had a lovely time having my colours done. I am a Soft Autumn (are we twins, ruby?) and was faintly worried about my colours therefore being 50 shades of sludge and dog poo, but there are actually lots of good ones. :) In fact, the good thing is that I was more or less on the right track already, so do not have to throw out any favourite items but do have licence to chuck out a bunch of stuff that has been lurking at the back of the wardrobe for years (never did like that black coat as it made me look like the Bride of Dracula). I shall be indulging in the purchase of a few tops in my "wow" colours (faintly cringy terminology), but I think the colours thing will make shopping a lot easier and will help me to spend much more wisely. I have to say, I do find certain aspects of the whole "colours" thing a tad ... overblown, but I'm sure that as long as people don't get carried away with it, it is generally quite a useful thing to do. But I'm never, ever going to wear lipstick every day, so thrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp (virtual raspberry) to that.

The rest of the w/e has been less joyous. Having been perfectly normal and sensible all week, dd has been horrendously peculiar for the past 2 days. She has done some astoundingly deceitful and hurtful things (and I have had to spend time and energy sorting out the consequences) and become hysterical when challenged. To say I have found this taxing would be understating things a wee bit. Sad to say, when she threatened to run away this afternoon (because I refused to buy her a hamster for her birthday Hmm ) there was a last straw/ camel's back thing going on and I went somewhat bonkers. It wasn't pretty and now I feel like it's me that should be going for the counselling.

CointreauVersial · 10/06/2012 22:28

Strops - snap! (Not the DD-related meltdown, but the vanishing of a massive post - grrr).

It sounds like you had fun on Friday, anyway!

Blackduck · 11/06/2012 06:31

So what are your 'wow' colours Stropps?

My w/e was less fraught by the sounds of it although ds wouldn't practise the piano 'as it reminds him of nana' cue floods of tears Hmm and dp is being a moody grumpy git and (TMI) my period is still here and I am using sanitary products like they are going out of fashion.... (is this, well, normal?)

So share this amazing beauty product MI and MrsS, or can you only buy it in France?

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2012 09:09

Stropps, glad your HoC went well - I am intrigued to know what I am and what colours... Not so good the DD - you have my sympathies.

Just recovering from an hour round trip to drop DD and friend to their school (school journey today!) It was complete mayhem as there are the 3 big private schools plus all the preps, pre-preps and primary on the 2-3 mile route. Feel like I need a large Wine and am wondering how all the private school mums do it every day.

herbaceous · 11/06/2012 09:36

Day one of potty training today. Am stocked with stickers, kitchen roll and 'Pirate Pete's Potty' book. Smile plastered on to face, mop and bucket at the ready.

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2012 09:39

Grin It might all be dead easy - Has he got some really nice new big boy pants?Wink!
