Agree about neon. My hag staple colours are black(many too many)shades of brown from chocolate ,tan to beige, then red is really useful but my red is falling apart
saw a Lulu Guiness Romily bag in red, gorgeous but big price tag. Now I think a mid blue and my wardrobe would be complete.
I will tell you my handbag epic tale that only handbag lovers will appreciate and sympathise with. (hope I don't out self though)
You've seen the types of bags I like. Quite safe I suppose. Anyway dh is lovely and can be v generous at times. Pressie wise we don't go mad normally, but occasionally he does. I would certainly never ask for a Mulberry bag or cartier watch (two dream items) think it presumptuous and rather cheeky. Usually get modest presents which are fine because he has NO IDEA about fashion....that is MY area.
Anyway, few christmases ago we were at in laws and he brought my present in. It was in a V Westwood carrier. I started feeling v nervous as my face says it all, lousy liar and alarm bells ringing and don't want to offend and just knew it was a potential disaster, he'd obviously gone off piste! Shit.
Now, I do think V W is amazing. Her tailoring (not that I own any) is unbelievable and I love her 18c type dresses a la Tracy Emin/nigella. Her wedding dresses are divine. But the bag and matching purse (why?why?) I unveiled that Christmas morning in front of whole in law family drew a collective gasp (not like the one we all did this yr when sil opened her oak Bayswater) but a shocked "fucking hell has he completely lost his bloody marbles and bought a hideous huge piece of neon graffitied PVC with leather handles" (with matching purse remember) kind of gasp.

As soon as I got it out he said "you don't like it" and I really found it hard to pretend. Bloody awful. Felt such an ungrateful bitch. It was almost hold all size and the last bag I would ever have chosen and to add insult to injury the VW shop is right next to Louis Vuitton and Mulberry, even Radley not far away. And the cost.......I have never spent more that £200 on a bag (and that is extravagant) and would never ask for anything of tht value, but my one chance to get a fabulous bag and it was hideous!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, he was really offended, had tried to buy me something different and original. I ended up exchanging it for two smaller bags (one is PVC tartan, the other leather has worn really badly,) that I would never have chosen myself. He said he'd never buy me a surprise again (phew).... But I keep thinking for the same amount I could have had a classic Bayswater and matching purse!!!!!still everyone has got a Bayswater where I live.
Hope you are crying with me....it's tragic isn't it?!!!!!!!oh well we can laugh about "westwoodgate" now.......just.
