Sorry about thread title. Hope everyone is back from holidays soon and will find us here.

amber Which JBrands did you get?

bonsoir I tried on those two tops in Cos before Easter and was tempted too. Bought a simple navy dress in Cos and shoes, which are not on the website Hmm. Will return this top. Cos is great at the moment I think.

Aw good for WIT.

NY yes I always wondered how people not at home did it. I am well versed in the timing of the DHL man so doesn't feel hard to do NaP or Outnet. I get cross when I have to trudge to the post office however so avoid Asos and other.

Ok off to not phone it in....

AntPants1 · 24/04/2012 20:22

Well I am a spring!! Well done bloss who said as much last summer!! The good news is that I don't really have much black which is a big no no. Just a couple of pairs of shoes and a pencil skirt and my beloved cigarette pants. The bad news is that there seem to be no dark colours allowed the than a very dodgy brown which is going to make bottoms very hard...no indigo skinnies, black, navy etc. NO NAVY. I bloody love navy! Was really good though. I even bought a couple of lipsticks as even I had to admit that they suited me. Again though no dark eye colours...why oh why!!! My mum and sister also came along and I think their colours were spot on so overall a good session.

Gosh all this self improvement!!!!

ollie I bought another pair of the new look flat sandals you recommended last year for the bargain price of £12. I'd recommend that you size up.

Brilliant ants, but dear me, no navy?? I thought everyone had a navy? You're going to have fun choosing workwear! So glad you had fun. Is your DH worried you're having a midlife crisis?

blossoming · 24/04/2012 20:31

X post fle!

AmberNectarine · 24/04/2012 20:41

I think bottoms are a bit less critical ants, as long as you get the top right...

notyummy · 24/04/2012 20:44

Ooh great to hear your news Ants- and yes surely you can wear indigo if you stick to the right colours on the top half?

AntPants1 · 24/04/2012 20:49

Am planning to keep a bit of navy. Surely not huge sin if only bottoms or say a coat with a scarf....the colours lady was very firm that I MUST NOT DEVIATE from my palate....actually I have a darkish blue- but it's not a navy navy IYKWIM. bloss I think my DH is just trying to ignore all my madness at the moment!!! He does have a bit of a haunted look at the moment!! LOVING the time off work, just loving it. Am very very good at just pottering!!!

AntPants1 · 24/04/2012 20:50

My mum and sister were both winters.....

pickledsiblings · 24/04/2012 20:53

Glad you had fun today Ants. Well predicted Bloss.

So, I didn't get the job and am mightily relieved. I had to go for it as it seemed such a good fit but I didn't atually want it. Infact, I think I'm 'over' teaching, shame seeing as that's pretty much all I'm trained to do (apart from the odd bit of research training many moons ago). I still have my Apple developer plans lurking and the next job interview is a step in the right direction for that so who knows.

Ollie, I saw the most gorgeous scarf today from afar. It looked like a lineny mix , pale grey with white oversized stars - v. you. May follow it up in a day or two. Hope you are happy with the fruits of Colin's labour Smile.

NY, the paid returns is what puts me off the Outnet.

I had to hunt to find you ladies! I was not ignoring anyone, but was away and pretty much internet-free for the school holidays, but now am trying to catch up with real-life. Cannot believe that I have missed almost 2 complete threads...well, it was four weeks! Hope everyone had an avidly stylish and beautiful time, and I am going to spend the next couple of hours catching up.

xx

MarshaBrady · 24/04/2012 21:24

Hi Momin, good to see you again. Smile

Ants good one. Although I'd definitely still stick to indigo on bottom half. Although not up with the colours thing.

Must admit I thought they all charged about the same amount for delivery returns. Must look closer! Or maybe not.

Dh is out. Is anyone else finding shopping lack lustre atm? It's a bit meh.

MarshaBrady · 24/04/2012 21:32

Sounds promising Pickled.

Fleecy · 24/04/2012 21:32

Good sandal buying ants and interested to hear you don't have a navy. I'm a spring too and I do find dark navy can overpower but not if I wear eye make up - I think it works then but I have never had my colours done!

Coral, turquoise, bright blue, apple green and yellows all get me compliments - and I wear them with indigo jeans on the whole Smile Agree with fle that there are lots of spring things around at the moment.

loobylu3 · 24/04/2012 21:36

Well done ants. It does sound as if you are making good use of your time off! :)
Surely it would be okay to wear indigo jeans, etc? I wouldn't take it too literally myself (another one totally uninitiated in the colours thing, although I have just booked to have it done)!

I have those NL sandals and wore them lots in Singapore. They are surprisingly comfortable. I would buy another pair but where on earth is the Summer this year?

NY- you look fab in the CM blue dress- hippy in a good way. :)

Interesting chat re careers. Dream career is difficult if not impossible as the grass is always greener. I agree with bonsoir re the dull parts of SAHM parenting. The drudgery, etc never gets done/ truly appreciated. That's one of the reasons why I personally wouldn't want to be at home full time.
Having a career without bureaucracy/ dull admin work, however, is a luxury that most people will never be able to have. I think one has to accept some sort of trade off most of the time.
pickled- do you not enjoy teaching any more? I can imagine you being v good at it.

Fleecy · 24/04/2012 21:39

pickled not sure whether to say congrats on not getting the job, seeing as it's made things clearer for you.

Hi mom

Hopefully · 24/04/2012 21:47

Hi Mom, I wondered what had become of you! Hope you've had a nice break.

Ants sounds like the colours was really good, although am also unimpressed at her strictness - the point they should get across is to gradually evolve into having a wardrobe that fits with your palette, not to toss everything out and start again. I'm sure it's things like that that puts people off going, as they think they're going to be criticised for having a 'bad' wardrobe. You are having a heck of an adventure on your time off, aren't you?

Pickled tentative congrats on you not getting the job. Sounds like the right outcome for you.

I have really done something spectacular to my back/neck/shoulder carrying DS2 around soft play yesterday - am dosed up on anti-inflammatories and hoping for an improvement in the morning. I can't look to the right, but every time I mention this my sister and DH launch into a rendition of Let's Do The Timewarp Again Hmm Grin

Hopefully · 24/04/2012 21:50

Oh, and here's a shock for the day. I had a really nice message from a MNer today about my capsule wardrobe (mentioned on another thread a couple of days ago). I was messaging her back about my clothing, and have realised that including all garments, accessories and shoes (but excluding sports clothes and underwear), I have under 50 items in my wardrobe. Adding underwear and sports clothes still keeps it well under 100, probably under 80. I am Shock at that. I knew I had quite a capsule wardrobe, but I hadn't realised how much! The total number of garments is only 21 Shock Shock. I am not exaggerating.

rufus101 · 24/04/2012 22:08

Am Envy of all the people getting their colours done. I'd love to have it done, but doesn't seem to be anywhere here (reliable that is) to get it done. I'm convinced I'm a winter as I've the blue eyes, dark hair, and light skin (which does however tan well), but then again I could be an autumn going into winter or a winter going into spring! Electric blue is one of my best colours, as is emerald green, charcoal grey, and I think black is a great colour on me. White and cream look good on me, but white has a slight (though only slight edge) of looking good on me. I got a flouro light yellow tee in Zara the other day, and it looks really good on me. Some day House of Colour will be here!
Hopefully I think it's great to have a capsule wardrobe, very impressive. Keep it that way, and only get things you really love, crave and pass the Roxy test!
Ollie am hooting aloud at your painter story! Hope the painting comes out well, I am getting some done next week .I keep changing my mind over the colours. I am driving DH absolutely mad. I am not a white/cream person, so I go for colours. It's all going to be stones, browns and green shades, but it can get mesmerising!
S'funny I quite like all the admin stuff in my job, I find it very stimulating. The other stuff is a breeze at this stage the majority of the time.

AmberNectarine · 24/04/2012 22:18

Pretty confident I have more than 21 pairs of jeans never mind any other category

I am really jealous of anyone who doesn't have a half hour faff choosing what to wear, and also doesn't struggle with the absolute non-issue of 'feeling sorry' for clothes that don't get worn enough...

Fleecy · 24/04/2012 22:19

Hopefully I actually laughed quite loudly reading about your DH and sis singing there Grin but sorry about your pain!
