Beauty Hall of shame (the thread that will NOT make you spend money)

Ok so after now ordering new foot buffers and looking into moroccan oil I just wondered if there were any beauty products that you really hate and would not recommend. Sorry if this has been done before, I did do a search.

Mine is benefit some kind-a-gorgeous foundation. Ended up purchasing this after wandering into one of their stores where the women would looked like she was caked in it slapped it all over my face catching me rather unawares. Admittedly the primer I also purchased is actually quite nice but the foundation is not exactly subtle and ended up looking like Ive caked it on. Plus it didnt last very long for the price.

Am laughing my head off at all of your expense this thread - so funny - beauty products that make you look 'crusty' 'scabby' 'wearing a death mask' 'shite' and many more- couldnt breathe laughing after that so had to stop. Funny how none of these words come up in the advertising campaigns though isnt it Hmm.

Of course l've never been taken in by any of this bullshit have actually got a bathroom cupboard like Boots the chemist full of 'failed' purchases !

Kerasatase oleo relax serum - worst allergic reaction ever. My skin/scalp has not been the same since.

BerryLellow · 30/03/2012 11:15

Elemis skincare - did feck all for me despite the ££

Benefit Bad Gal - made my eyelashes fall out

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 30/03/2012 12:27

Ooo, I like the elemis tri enzyme wash stuff, that has definitely improved my skin. Low starting point thoughWink

All lip gloss is horrid, sticky stuff that my hair gets stuck too.

Lord how could I forget the horror that is Clinique 3 step? Hideous stuff, hated it, my skin flared up after just a few days.

Passed it onto a friend. After she got home, she called me to say that the toning lotion had leaked a bit in her bag ... Completely stripped and damaged the lining but that she now had a set of very very shiny house keys ..... Shock never ever again.

alemci · 01/04/2012 17:31

I think the toning lotion is quite harsh. I used the purple one for a while but when I went for a facial the lady had worked for clinique and she said the exfoliation factor of this product can cause problems for the skin.

Bare minerals - looks like someone had thrown powder paint over me.

Creme De la Mer - posho ex boss gave me a pot once. gave me spots and smelled cheap. I was flabbered when I found out how much it cost.

feelinghappynow · 01/04/2012 17:44

I find it just awful so many people on here compaining about skin itching, hurting, shampoos making hair greasy etc and paying over the odds for products stuffed full of cheap chemicals. I used to be the same.

Seriously seriously you should consider switching to more natural and organic products like UNE, Neals Yard Remedies, Naked Hair and body wash stuff, Dr Haushker etc. The cost is the same as the high end brands but lasts ages and it's not full of cheap crap. Or even basic organic coconut oil can be used as a multitude of things.

Step away from hideous parfum and get some products with essential oils in - i swear you'll never go back!!! Crystal deodrants like pit rok are a revelation too!

feelinghappynow · 01/04/2012 17:47

And totally agree about the amazing marketing surrounding 'Simple'

alemci · 02/04/2012 12:07

What do you think of Origins granule.

I try to use some organic products too.
