Ok so after now ordering new foot buffers and looking into moroccan oil I just wondered if there were any beauty products that you really hate and would not recommend. Sorry if this has been done before, I did do a search.

Mine is benefit some kind-a-gorgeous foundation. Ended up purchasing this after wandering into one of their stores where the women would looked like she was caked in it slapped it all over my face catching me rather unawares. Admittedly the primer I also purchased is actually quite nice but the foundation is not exactly subtle and ended up looking like Ive caked it on. Plus it didnt last very long for the price.

Racking brains...

Ladies, please use MakeUpAlley or similar to read product reviews before you buy. I've had fewer mistakes since I started.

Ok...Boots Cold Cream - just awful, awful, awful.

  • Herbal Essences, used for years before I realised it was pants.
  • All shower gel - waste of money, most of it goes down the drain.
  • All cuticle cream - I don't get it, why not just use moisteriser.
  • Most hand creams are awful IMO and I've tried loads. Although I do recommend Clarins but it is £££
  • St Tropez Gradual Tan gets rave reviews but didn't show up at all on me (I am fair skinned but with olive undertones/tan easily)
  • Most deodorants are simply horrible. I hate the smell of them all and they leave white marks on my clothes and some don't stop sweat. (If anyone can help with these please, I'm desperate). Roll ons are too wet and sprays are uneconomical.
  • MAC Face and Body foundation gets absolutely rave reviews and is a professional only product. Leaves me looking sweaty rather than dewy.

I have loads more to complain about but shall hold off.

Lulumama · 26/03/2012 16:50

all RImmel mascaras are rubbish, even the ones that start off ok dry up and get flaky v v v quickly.

Collection 2000 waterproof fast stroke liquid eyeliner - stings and then made my eyes water and then became an odd sort of peely off clump that fell into my eyes making me have to remove all make up and splash my eyes repeatedly to stop the stinging ! utter utter crap

hillyhilly · 26/03/2012 16:52

I use a sure stick deodorant, I think it must be an anti perspirant too as I sweat v little and don't get the white marks on my clothes any more.

BusinessTrills · 26/03/2012 16:53

In theory shouldn't all your shower gel go down the drain? Where else would you expect it to go?

Devora · 26/03/2012 16:53

Ah yes, nanoblur. Ten years younger, they say... [hollow laughter shakes her wizened visage]

Benefit stuff, in particular the bad gal mascara.

All no7.

Soap and glory smells really chemically.

Pinot · 26/03/2012 17:12

I do think Soap and Glory have changed and cheapened their formulas since they launched. They used to be high-end quality at low/mid prices. Not so much now, unfortunately.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 26/03/2012 17:18

Chanel nail polish. Admittedly I've only ever bought it twice, but even when brand new it was thick and claggy to apply and went on unevenly. Chipped after five minutes and took aeons to come off nails and surrounding skin properly, even though I'd used a base coat.

Byeckerslike · 26/03/2012 17:25

Yes to bb cream, the no7 one makes me look like the joker

The batiste dry shampoo for xxxl volume (not all batiste, i use cans and cans of the stuff slattern) just the xxxl volume stuff, spray this extra strength concrete on your roots, then i dare you to try and get your hair to resemble anything other than a used birds nest

Byeckerslike · 26/03/2012 17:26

Agree about s&g stuff, i love the foot file and the body puff, but the rest seems to be all style and no substance, it used to be lovely and really effective, not so much now

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/03/2012 17:36

Frizz ease very disappointing, did nothing to control my dry thick hair, waste of money.

Pantene hair stuff all useless.

Nearly all eye make up removers hurt me. Bizarrely the only one I've found that works and I can stand is Simple. But their facial wash hurts and the moisturiser is nowhere near the level I need.

Have to put in a word for Claris, beauty flash alm and hand cream both ace.

Chewbecca · 26/03/2012 18:25

Chanel moisturiser with fake tan. I didn't mean to get the fake tan one.

It was very smelly and my face was orange within a few days.

It was ££ :(

anniewoo · 26/03/2012 18:41

Phew-i thought it was just me and frizz ease.
Estee Lauder Advanced night repair.am still wrinkled - broke and wrinkled !
Collection 2000 soft eye pencil - ha ha
St.tropez aromaguard fake tan -yeah right!!
Any fake tanner that says it's streak free.
8 hour cream

cazza40 · 26/03/2012 18:47

Ysl touche éclat brought me out in a rash

Nanoblur - a complete and utter waste of money

UntamedShrew · 26/03/2012 18:48

Anything by Maybelline, Revlon or Max Factor. Guess there is a reason they are cheaper.

Touche Éclat gave me excema.

Essie nail polishes chip.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser disappeared after three minutes.

Dillydollydaydream · 26/03/2012 19:06

Bad Gal Lash - Benefit. Thought this was pants. Do like their highlighter though.

twointhemorning · 26/03/2012 19:14

Hmm, a total waste of money for me is Boots Simply Sensitive Eye cream - it gave me weird spots/marks under the eye after a few days of use. A pity as it was cheap. God knows what's in it.

At the reccommendation of some on here I've switched to trying some Decleor stuff, seems good so far.

I used to rate Estee Lauder skincare (along with Gran, Mum & sister) & still think the Daywear moisturiser is fab.
I've not seen great results with Idealist (stuff in a green bottle) or the Advanced Night Repair eye recovery complex. Better results with Decleor and less breakouts. The eyecream isn't very moisturising and doesn't seem to reduce lines much, but I don't get an allergic reaction.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 26/03/2012 19:22

Chanel nail polishes - love 'em but they chip like a bugger.

AmethystMoon · 26/03/2012 19:34

In conclusion I think we're all different and so different products will suit some and bit others! Grin
Allergic to touché éclat, gave me eczema.
Love benefit bad lash mascara.
Can't live without Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.
Pantene shampoo makes my hair limp.
Boots no.7 nail varnish chips like no other.
Boots no.7 latest mascara ( forgotten name but basically a extreme type one) rubbish.
Clinique 7 day scrub, greasy yukky gunk!

Just my experiences Smile

AmethystMoon · 26/03/2012 19:34

Should read not others, sorry

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 26/03/2012 19:37

YY to Maybelline, however I quite like their little pots of cream blush (recommended on here I think)

DonaAna · 26/03/2012 19:52

Dior concealer and Diorskin Nude and Forever foundations. Made my eyes bright red. (Great though if you want to look like a vampire.)

wildfig · 26/03/2012 20:07

Garnier BB cream - gave me Orange Face, then spots
Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation - gave me spots
Myface nail varnish - streaks, gloops, won't dry, peels off in one lot after 6 hours
Touche Eclat - reverse panda
James Brown hair products - very average
No7 eye pencils - rrrrrubbish
Chanel nail varnishes - chip instantly

Boots' Law: Any mascara No7 is giving away a 'free' product with is almost guaranteed to be disappointing.

Springforward · 26/03/2012 20:29

All No7 products, especially the Beautiful Skin range (oily skin formula wash dried my skin out and moisturiser put an oil slick over the top....)

All Simple products - if they are perfume and dye free then really, why do they sting so much?!? Make my skin spotty too, which I can't be doing with in my 30s
