Ok so after now ordering new foot buffers and looking into moroccan oil I just wondered if there were any beauty products that you really hate and would not recommend. Sorry if this has been done before, I did do a search.

Mine is benefit some kind-a-gorgeous foundation. Ended up purchasing this after wandering into one of their stores where the women would looked like she was caked in it slapped it all over my face catching me rather unawares. Admittedly the primer I also purchased is actually quite nice but the foundation is not exactly subtle and ended up looking like Ive caked it on. Plus it didnt last very long for the price.

Touche Eclat, though it did give me a feeling of doing something while watching parenthood gouge actual holes in my face.

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 26/03/2012 20:44

Oh yes, Simple products, stingy and drying

ggirltwin2pinot · 26/03/2012 20:56

Chanel vitalumiere is slimy shit
Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadows are like clown paint
Cellulite cream...you're 'avin a larf
Moisturising shower gel...bollocks

Oh well i love Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and Touche Eclat

Useless stuff:
Clarins beauty flash balm
Chanel foundation
Simple products all stingy and nasty
Soap and glory is horrible sickly shite
Any base coat/top coat, just doesnt work on my nails, they always look shite

futterbingers · 26/03/2012 21:20

Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine conditioner - I think it smells like cats pee, my kids say it stinks like sweat. Either way, stinky stinky stuff.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - expensive and useless.

Have to say though, 8 hour cream is brilliant for me, I use it on my feet once a week before bed, slather it on after buffing away hard skin, put light cotton socks on and in the morning - lovely smooth feet, no cracks, no white flaky skin, no yellow bits (this fine weather does bring out some ugly sights feet-wise).

PerryCombover · 26/03/2012 21:23

All things claiming to reduce cellulite or the appearance of cellulite....maybe laser heating and liquifying might work....I'll give you that
everything else is expensive snake oil

touche eclat is rubbish on most
mineral make up is balls
all those cheek stains are just food colouring and you all look like aunt sally

theseventhdwarf · 26/03/2012 21:37

I like simple eye makeup remover but the face wash nearly took my top layer of skin off!

Beauty flash balm - eh what - like sticky putty the then left stringy bits on my face as i tried to put maek up on with it - even at the make up counter!

Bb cream - same

Lancome mascara

Benefit bad gal mascara

Soap and glory eye creme and eye gel . (gave me a rash undereyes and also made my eyes water uncontrollably)

James brown hair serum

aussie miracle hair stuff....

Stella mccartney lilly perfume - yuk yuk yuk ....

aveda shampoo and conditioner

mumsnet scarf (sorry)

Elvive/J frieda hair stuff

200 calorie mascara stuff - c*ap

Meglet · 26/03/2012 21:41

Soap and Glory thermal (heating up) shower scrub. It doesn't warm up it almost leaves third degree burns. I do wonder if I have a duff bottle of it.

Lulumama · 26/03/2012 21:57

I love my ped egg and 8 hour cream

however, have yet to find a really soooper doooper lip balm, the 8 hour one tastes weird and unsavoury

VeniVidiVisa · 26/03/2012 22:04

I love this thread Grin

May I add Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Just don't get all the fuss. It gave me spots.

cocobongo · 26/03/2012 22:06

yyy to boots no 7- kept getting drawn back in by all their offers (£5 off, free gift, 3 for 2 etc etc) but have to admit the stuff is sh1t. particularly the serum which just felt sticky.

estee lauder make-up- real "granny" make-up smell, and reacts with my skin.

clinique so-called gentle eye make-up remover- makes my eyes red and sore.

garnier bb cream- got the free samples and was tango-ed in the extreme and skin felt weird.

eve lom cleanser- £50 down the drain, and had no discernable effect.

mamalovesmojitos · 26/03/2012 22:10

I like BFB and lurve touché éclat.

Fructis shampoo & conditioner is like rubbing chip fat into your head. Hate 8 hour cream. Anything by clinique. Yes, and benefit must be the most overrated and overpriced cosmetics line.

polyhymnia · 26/03/2012 22:20

All cheap shampoos and hair products ie almost any you can buy in Boots.
Ditto skin care though some No 7 just about OK though wouldn't buy their makeup.

Touché Éclat.

puggirl · 26/03/2012 22:20

Flash balm - still waiting for the flash of magic to happen after all these years

Moroccan oil - ditto the uncontrollable fly away thing

No.7 - I seem to be hideously allergic to airbrush primer, Liz Earle-type cleanser with muslin cloth and the foaming face wash. Everytime I get a £5 off voucher I end up bright red and spotty wondering why I never learn...

This works foot cream- bloody £16 and a total waste. Prefer the one the chiropodist recommended for £7 that actually works.

8 hr cream- I have religiously slapped this on face, fingers and feet and all to no avail. Vaseline is much cheaper and twice as good. Wonder how the 8 hr stuff always makes the top beauty product list in the magazines each year?

Enough for now. Mentally calculating the total £ wasted on useless products after being sucked into reviews promising nothing short of a miracle and being left disappointed...

polyhymnia · 26/03/2012 22:22

Also don't like any perfume you can get in Boots except Clarins Eau Dynamisante.

rookiemater · 26/03/2012 22:24

Theres a few that I am seconding:

  • Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - just a thick smelly moisturiser with no SPF
  • Chanel nail polish - gets claggy really quickly, now I buy a superdrug special at £1.99 - is of no worse quality
  • Mineral make up - felt and looked like an orange kabuki (sp?) mask when applied by the shop assistant

I'm sure there is more I have bought hundreds of beauty products over the years.

puggirl · 26/03/2012 22:26

Feel like I should say although I can't get on with No. 7 skincare, their smoky eyes liner and the emerald green liquid one are both cracking. The green one stays in place for days (unless I scrub my eyelids with Vaseline to remove it) I am confident it would see you through a Dover to Calais cross channel swim Wink

PastGrace · 26/03/2012 22:30

I hated my Ped Egg.

The lime green/pink Maybelline mascara is useless and comes off straight away.

Clinique things make my face burn.

Touche Eclat made my eyes go bright red.

The amazing Lancome bi-facil eye make up remover is INCREDIBLE, until I brought it into my daily cleansing regime and the skin around my eyes went all raw and red within the week.

If I don't rinse Herbal Essences conditioner out completely (and I mean standing under the shower for a good 5 minutes) I get a rash where my hair touches my skin.

Anyone who doesn't want their 8 hour cream, feel free to fling it my way. I live for the stuff. Use it as a lipbalm if nothing else - teeny tiny dab before bed.

polyhymnia · 26/03/2012 22:39

Second all Lauder makeup and texture of Chanel nail varnish - Essie and Jessica much better.
Do like Bobbi Brown cream eye shadow though.

Jackstini · 26/03/2012 23:07

Olay 7 signs of ageing thingy - just dries me out
Superdrug Eyebrow waxing strips - don't get the hairs out
Most nail polish - seems to take longer to dry that it does to chip. Given up & switched to gel polish!
Davidoff Cool Water - smells of sweat
Touche Eclat also - itchy eyes in a tube...

PastGrace · 26/03/2012 23:13

Oh, and Lancome Genefique Serum - total pants.

The shop assistant looked at me in horror as I was buying mascara and said "wait there, I have a sample of something you'll LOVE" and gave it to me with a chirpy "there now, that'll sort your tired old face right out" smile. I was 21 at the time. Yeah, I'd had a crappy year, but 21! My skin didn't need "super youth restoring". I tried it, it was pants. I gave it to my mum who is more in need than me and it made zero difference to her.

bibbityisaporker · 26/03/2012 23:18

Nivea sunkissed gentle tanning lotion - the stuff that you slap on for a few weeks pre-holiday and its supposed to build up to a light tan. Rarely have a smelled anything more unpleasant in my entire life. The stink is undescribably hideous.

lololizzy · 26/03/2012 23:56

Garnier BB....grease ball alert
Benefit's mascaras...all of them...
Diego Dalla's so called invincible semi perm mascara. My arse. I only wore it on top lashes, and had panda eyes within hours (and didn't even have eye cream on)
Bourjois's foundation (forget name) with the spongey ball applicator..again turned me into a grease ball, and gave no coverage
Most stuff by Mac except the lipglosses - nothing, and i mean nothing, of theirs stays put on me , even buying their sodding expensive bases for their sodding eyeshadows that still drift within five minutes
Nars crayon eyeshadow..as above

lololizzy · 26/03/2012 23:56

Ojon thickening shampoo....which left my hair flat and lank!!!
