*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

no, still the 30% GA. i've had 2 weeks break from it.

my skin was completely fine with 7 mins (that was the highest i went) but i feel naughty disregarding the instructions that came with it, big wuss that i am.

My first look in the mirror this morning scared the bejesus out of me. I look like I'm made of white clay or something. I'm on the very pale side anyway but this is extreme!

My skin does look smoother though and is soft to the touch. Have more visible pores on my cheeks (either side of my nose)

If I use this again will I go transparent?

cybbo · 22/04/2012 16:02

coco j'agree I am deffo wearing less skin make up

I wish it woudl fade my bisto mark though- that is stubbornly still there

is DIY lasering possible?

Season??

SeasonOfTheWitch · 22/04/2012 16:17

yy, less make-up here too. i keep catching sight of myself in reflections and being quite surprised how good/young my skin looks. avoids all mention of walking into shop mirror yesterday and apologising to reflection.

i'm sure it's possible cybbo. maybe we need to experiment with a microwave and tin foil?

OP posts:
cybbo · 22/04/2012 16:19

..and a blow torch?

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 16:25

Have you tried alpha h white gold?

cybbo · 22/04/2012 16:34

will that fade my mark?

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 16:43

It does fade marks. My sister gave me some for a mark I had on my hand sun damage I think like a big freckle. I used it religiously and she said I would have to keep using it to keep it faded but when it ran out I never bothered. It is virtually invisible now and that was a few years ago.I have 3 more spots on teh other hand but they have virtually gone using castor oil

DoUntoOtters · 22/04/2012 16:56

cybbo my mum has used Fade Out cream for years on her face and age spots on her hands. Seems to work a treat for her, and you can get it in Boots fairly easily.

cocolepew · 22/04/2012 19:17

Used the SA on my problem bits, kept it on for the length of Born In The USA and Dancing In The Dark.

DH was lying in the bath as I wandered in with my bicarb of soda, he was horrified and told me I'd hurt my eyes. I replied that I had acid on my face and needed to neutralise it.

He rolled his eyes, lay back in the bath and muttered "bloody Mumsnet." Grin

The SA is definitely helping a brown mark on my face, one part of it has gone completely.

WeesaD · 22/04/2012 20:34

ROFL coco!
I love your husband

ggirl · 22/04/2012 21:09

coco my h says that all the time too

MrsBovary · 22/04/2012 22:06

Gosh, done at last! I have a new respect for all you sizzlers, it was quite nerve-wracking.

My first 30% GA peel, 3 mins. It does sting, especially on applying the neutraliser.
I bought some Jojoba oil, for use after rinsing with lukewarm water, but am not sure I'm going to use anything at all.

NotMostPeople · 22/04/2012 22:16

Evenings all, I've just done peel number six with 10% SA having done number one with GA. I ended up leaving it on for longer than the six minutes probably more like 8 and it hardly tingles. I can't say I'm seeing any difference so not sure which way to go in future higher strength SA or GA.

MrsBovary · 22/04/2012 22:17

Oh, I meant to ask. I'd been using Alpha-H liquid gold, every other day, prior to this, and wondered if people were still using it between weekly GA peels?

Whitershadeofpale · 23/04/2012 08:16

I just came to point out the mail article. Strange it's dermatologists who charge a fortune to do these peels who are advising against home treatments. If we had the kind of skin that they say you need I'm order to peel then you wouldn't need to do it!

TheGrimSweeper · 23/04/2012 08:22

alice I was coming on to share the fright that bloody article gave me.

Seeing as it's the wail, won't stop me though, I'm an ADDICT Grin

Have any of you tried this stuff on stretch marks? Would be very interested in hearing about your results Ta.

TheGrimSweeper · 23/04/2012 08:26

Exactly Whiter
Article is just Hmm as usual.
Now. Before I start work, off to read about Carla Bruni's face, seemingly one of the critical elements of the French national elections according to the DM's analysis...
Have a good day all!

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 23/04/2012 08:38

Haha Season you're infamous!

SeasonOfTheWitch · 23/04/2012 08:41

totes agree whiter and there's never horror stories about salon treatments are there? Hmm

i also think there's a world of difference between slapping an acid on for 7 mins without building up to it slowly.

anyway, did 4 mins of GA30% last night. skin looking peachy. i went a bit closer to my eyes last night and there was no probs.

just had a thought about backs of hands tho.... it's not like most of us will keep sunscreen on our hands (i wash my hands roughly 2.5 million times a day and def don't put sunscreen on again afterwards) so maybe it's not that sensible to do areas like that?

i meant professional treatments not salon treatments re horror stories btw

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 23/04/2012 09:17

I was thinking I may do the backs of my hands in the winter when I always have gloves on. In Scotland and I'm always freezing!

I've read about people doing their knees and feet, so may try that instead Grin

MissFoodie · 23/04/2012 11:06

am in Spain, just seen DM article, guess we've been rumbled Grin
did 6th SA 20% on nose only last night, looked fine, then woke up today with 2 bloody spots?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
