*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/03/2012 08:40

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

I finally succumbed and ordered the GA 30%, as I've been so impressed with the liquid gold I've been using, though it has been less than two weeks . I ordered the brush applicator too.

Despatched yesterday, fingers crossed will be here soon.

OutfortheCount · 18/04/2012 21:40

At the risk of being ousted from thread, can I add a note of worry?

  1. My skin is getting worse, not better. Spot spot spot spot spot.
  2. The lines are lessening, but have been worrying - isn't this just a reaction to trauma? Once skin has recovered, won't they come back?
Anyone else for a bit of worrying? GA 30%, worrying 90%
Snakeonaplane · 18/04/2012 21:43

Thanks Cat that must be one of the only pregnancy induced things I don't have Hmm.

I can't look at people having peels that requires them to have an NG tube that my friends is a bridge too far.

I would like to have a smidgen of Botox in the old 11s but dh says he'll leave me if I do Grin

bucketbetty · 18/04/2012 21:47

Duh, silly woman iam. I've ordered it now. Wow this company's profits must be through the roof. I'm giving it a shot. I already use a ga daily cleanser so I've gone for 50%. I'm excited.

Snakeonaplane · 18/04/2012 21:48

Out I am spotty but in a good way, White heads coming to a head so hopefully they'll vanish.

Can I just add a disclaimer at the risk of being shot later. I'm 32 so realistically not in drastic need of lots of anti ageing stuff, but I have aged after living in Sydney and sun bathing too much. I don't know if that means anything but I don't want to be in trouble for people spending money and it not making any difference.

As you were Grin

winefairy · 18/04/2012 21:57

Forgive me people, for I have sinned. It has been 11 days since my last peel! Events conspired against me and this is the first chance I've had for sizzle no. 3 with GA 30%. Managed 5 mins. this time.

I'm really noticing results. Face less lined and tighter and less porey. Really loving it and could kiss Season's dewy visage for discovering it. 'Tis the acid of Gods. Or something.

MissFoodie · 19/04/2012 00:59

ooooooooooh haven't logged on for a few hours and all these posts!
well, I have 2 more sessions of SA 20% then am debating between the GA and the LA....
btw I only seem to have used like a 10th of the bottle??? have enough for years........!

Whitershadeofpale · 19/04/2012 08:58

Ok new pic is up, again apologies for it being crap and of a different side of my face. Also a quite unflattering face on pic of me with makeup just so you can compare the glowyness to the earlier pics.

BTW, I don't always wear my hair scraped off my face I just do it when taking these pics so you can see my skin better.

cocolepew · 19/04/2012 09:24

I used the SA on my cheeks yesterday again for a couple ofminutes, It's only 10% so I took a chance.

i have whiteheads there and i am concentrating on trying to sort them out.

It would help if I could stop picking Blush

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 19/04/2012 09:27

Whiter - I think that you can see quite a big difference from the first pic Smile

No.4 for me tommorrow night. I notice the improvement several days after sizzling but there is a definite change.

MissFoodie · 19/04/2012 10:14

Coco I'm going to do 2 more SA peels, but think I'm going to move on to LA or GA as I cant stand the peeling.....6 days in and my nose is still flaking....!

LtheWife · 19/04/2012 10:17

To all those who aren't seeing the results they hoped for yet, remember that if you were having salon treatments they would recommend a course of full length peels over a number of months to see real results. A single course of DIY peels is only equal to the use of the pre peel products and 1 peel in a salon!

What seems to be working for me is working up to the 8 minute at home peel according to instructions, have a two week break, do a 4 minute peel, a week later another 8 minute peel, then another 2 week break. I plan on doing a total of six 8 min peels following that cycle and then will switch to a maintenance regime of just doing top ups as and when needed.

It's also worth noting that you shouldn't really see much in the way of flaking and peeling. It's a sign that your skin hasn't had time to get used to the acid yet, so slow down a little! If necessary go back to a peel length that didn't cause flaking, still do weekly peels but only increase the time every other peel to allow your skin to adjust.

happy2bhomely · 19/04/2012 12:47

I just received mine Smile Now, how many of you did a patch test? Has anyone used the serum afterwards? I wish I had ordered some now!

MrsBovary · 19/04/2012 13:00

Mine arrived today too, and was also wishing I'd bought the serum. I might try to pop into Holland and Barrett for some Jojoba oil instead.

I wasn't intending to do a patch test Blush

cocolepew · 19/04/2012 13:01

Foodie I have had no peeling, I think my skin is leather Grin

DoUntoOtters · 19/04/2012 13:02

Damn you all. I was out when Mr Postie called, so now I've got to wait another 24 hours before I can collect it.

I need to melt my face off. Sad

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 19/04/2012 14:07

ooh, just had email from Dh that parcel arrived for me at his office ( default delvery place) - that'squick! Have told him he he must remember to bring it home tonight!!!!

happy2bhomely · 19/04/2012 18:17

Just finished sizzle number 1! I had a little bit of stinging as I applied it, but kept it on for 2 minutes. The sizzle of the neutraliser worried me a bit, but not much else to report. My skin feels super clean and a little bit tight. I applied a thin layer of aloe gel with panthenol and everything seems ok. I plan to do another 2 minutes on sunday, and then increase minutes every sunday after that for six weeks.

I have been using bare minerals night treatment for a week and my face has been transformed already, so I'm excited to see if this works now that my faith in products has been restored!

gladyoucame · 19/04/2012 21:51

Have sizzled face for 2nd time and so far it looks very clean and feels smooth, possibly pores have shrunk a bit. Tonight I also did my décolletage which looks much smoother.

Did back of hands yesterday as I have my mothers hands (fine on sixty something not so good on late thirties me) no change yet, but will be patient... well for a couple more days!

Tingles a bit when on and sizzles rather pleasingly when neutralised. Planning on sizzling DH soon not that he knows it

SeasonOfTheWitch · 19/04/2012 23:30

very glowy whiter!

good to have you back font of all acid LtheWife! how did you come up with that regime? i like the sound of it

OP posts:
catinboots · 20/04/2012 01:33

I'm up for a naso-gastric tube

catinboots · 20/04/2012 09:12

spotty and crispy this morning with a coldsore Sad

that'll learn me for sizzling 2 days in a row

PerryCombover · 20/04/2012 09:27

Would it see off some joined up freckles I have? (age spots)

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 20/04/2012 09:49

mine arrived home last night with DH. He was very curious becuase I had been so insistent he bring it home immediately. I refused to let him see what it was, but added to his curiosity by saying I would need to seek permission form Mumsnetters as to whether I could do it ahead of Tuesday Grin he now assumes it is some sort of self-sex aid and that next Tuesday evenig we shall all be having a group - um - self-gratification sessionGrin ( he emailed me this morning to see if I had got permission...)
Did the patch test on ,my inner arm - no reaction.
I see that the ONLY ingredient in the neutraliser is bi-carb - obviously am complete mug for buing that and should have read the ghread more carefully as I see otehrs have already advised that Blush
Have washed face more carefuly than ever, (feels very tight without moisturiser) and intend to do the deed this arvo, since it looks like a rainy weekend so no hot sun to damage my newly renewed face Grin.
Like others, wish I had opted for the hyaluronic serum - no idea where I could get eg jojoba oil in my lunch hour - any tips for what easily available stuff (Supredrug)I shuld put on after...?

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/04/2012 10:10

you scare me cat

group self-gratification sessions guy? Grin not that far from the truth really

i just used whatever OCM oil i had to hand eg sweet almond oil or grapeseed oil.

I'd wash again an 30-60 mins before peeling esp if you have oily skin.

any the newsflash here today is that i have actual pores instead of blackheads on my nose now - i think it's partly the 30%GA peel, partly the 10% cream and partly the twizzerman blackheader planer.

i could be a pore model
