new thread!

rufus101 · 26/03/2012 21:17

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Cant seem to link it properly.
I need a list of stuff for the summer. I am panicing slightly that Decam is already saving for the summer sales! Have only bought one item (electric blue sweater from COS) in February and the Numph dress this month. I'm not being particularly frugal, but I just don't seem to see anything I like and I'm determined not to buy stuff I don't need or will not wear.
Is there a list? (Am such a S and B sheep) Have tried on GAP coloured skinnies and was [sceptical]. I'm with you on how much I like the ankle grazing look Bloss now that the sun has come out. With vertiginous heels of course. (Otherwise my little pins would look ridiculous)

FritziGreenEyes · 26/03/2012 21:28

Thanks for the recipes red and bloss. Will probably try out both as we are using a lot of eggs at the moment Smile.

rufus Does your new job require a formal wardrobe? I just noticed the other day that I haven't been in possession of a business suit for ages. Not that I miss it much but I remember how instantly polished and capable I felt when I put on heels, skirt, shirt and matching blazer in the mornings.

OllieinOrange · 26/03/2012 21:34

Pickled It was these here It doesnt say if they deliver outside of NL - can email and ask for you? The boots have a Hot Ice branding label inside them - which is a Dutch based manufacturer. Maybe worth a google?
Are you feeling a tad broody - you've made some lovely misty eyed comments about missing having little ones around? I have moments like that but soon get over them Wink

Bloss that looks a great recipe thank you. I shredded today for the first time in just over a week. Looking forward to my sister bringing me the Ripped in 30 dvd over - which I sent to my parents house by mistake. They thought I was taking the mickey Shock

MrsCB how did DH's cycling holiday go?

MiM lovely to hear from you. Are you back home now? How is DS taking to being a big brother? Really pleased that DH has been so great too.

Fritzi lovely loungers esp with add-on wine accessory!

Reine Is it pottery? I loved it when I had some lessons a couple of years ago - wasnt v good at it though - had all these nice ideas and just got frustrated with the end results. I made some cute little angels (cone shaped body, ball of clay for head, and wings) which the teacher said looked more bird-like than angelic! I kept one and call her Vera!

DS1s front top tooth is very loose and wobbly - he looks like Nanny McPhee!

suburbanstyle · 26/03/2012 21:39

rufus my blog is here it is hopelessly amateur and is about being stylish on a budget, I hope you enjoy.

pickled no I didn't wear dungarees, funnily enough DP asked the same question though Hmm.

Ollie so glad to find another Hema enthusiast. I agreed to Antwerp because we were a stone's throw from Urban Outfitters and COS. I also liked Blocker for picking up random bits of tat...

Mim, so glad you are having some success with pumping. I think you're right my chinos are too baggy and add bulk where I really don't need it. Will try and find some skinny ones like WITs I think.

FritziGreenEyes · 26/03/2012 21:40

More important mrscb: How did the painting with the DCs go?

ollie Hehe, maybe your parents have been secretly Jillian-ing and you won't recognize them when you see them next time Wink. DD is desperate for a wobbly tooth. The thought makes me feel a bit squeamish but I will find a way to deal with it I guess.

blossoming · 26/03/2012 21:43

I am thinking I may take Roxy to Spain with me. Apparently it is hotter here in my corner of Wales than it is in Malaga today!
As well as buying the Vince jeans and tee shirt today, I ordered some tops from Jigsaw: (by the way rufus, you need 2 square brackets for linking)
this one; this one and this one in black. I hope they work. Nothing from last year feels right apart from Agnes. It's always strange going into a new season I find.

OllieinOrange · 26/03/2012 21:48

Suburban Was in Blokker today, brought some Mr Muscle and some Easter decorations! I love Antwerp for shopping - not been for a while tho. Loved Sfera (sp?) for picking up cute Spanish-styled things at very good prices. Also liked the Feesthal - and its champagne bar!

Fritzi yes, turns out I am v squeamish about wobbly teeth - think its the first thing as a Mum that has made my stomach really turn - head lice didnt phase me one bit, but seeing a tooth dangling is just gross!

AmberNectarine · 26/03/2012 21:48

Hopefully so with you on that! I horribly said to my darling little girl today 'I can't wait til you're two!' What an awful mother. In my defence she doesn't sleep, ever, and is teething. She has also been trying out her new tooth by biting my nipple and drawing blood on one occasion.

Agree pickled sounds broody. Happy to lend out a nearly 9mo. No charge.

Chan Luus on the outnet today. V tempting.

Have just Ripped. Will I ever be smugly in control of my balance and breathing like those two drones in the background?

Nice purchases Bloss. I was just wistfully gazing at this top as I purchased a bathroom light.

TBH I should not be buying more clothes and instead focusing on sorting my body out - am feeling decidedly pudgy and that nothing looks as it should. Think it was the wearing of white skinnies yesterday (although I did like them with the electric blue Whistles tee) that has done it.

Hope the new job start goes well rufus.

DS and DD spent half an hour just lying on the new carpet today, stroking it and giggling. Think they were fed-up of dusty old floorboards

Hopefully · 26/03/2012 22:10

Rufus I need a summer list too. I know I need clothes, but I have no idea what! Have established I need sunglasses and want aviator shape (even though I may try them and they may not suit). And a bikini for my imaginary holiday.

Amber I withstood one blood drawing incident from DS1, but the second was the end of BFing him! Love toddlers, they're so cool. Babies are nice for a cuddle, but I like handing them back to their mothers afterwards Wink

Ripped earlier then ruined it slightly by consuming a bar of chocolate Blush

Hopefully · 26/03/2012 22:12

Bloss I like the first top for you. Also like the shorts with the second top, maybe I could upgrade to them when I am more confident with shorts.

Zembo · 26/03/2012 22:35

Reine is it cake pop making? there's obviously a huge hole in the market for that Wink

Hopefully I love toddlers too, anything from 18 months onwards. I'm really enjoying spending time with my 3 year old at the moment.

Rufus I haven't sorted out my S/S list either really. I'm late off the mark this year and a few things I've wanted have already sold out. I'm waiting to see if this scarf is reduced a bit and then may buy it, looks lovely on.

Bloss I know what you mean when you say last years stuff doesn't feel right, although I've yet to switch wardrobes - that's an Easter holiday job for me.

rufus101 · 26/03/2012 23:33

New job is the same as old job, just in a different location Fritzi, have lots of suits and will briskly strutt about in my heels feigning calmness. Someone actually said to me recently "I knew it was you coming down the corridor when I heard the heels clicking".
Aha! Thanks for pointing that out Bloss. this is where I am going! I like that first blue top BTW.
Thanks for the link Suburban, have now bookmarked! Love Kerry, it's one of my favourite places to holiday. We go down a lot to a place near Castlegregory. I never even care if it is raining down there, it's so beautiful, and have gone in boggie boarding in the wet suit into the sea in the rain!
Zembo great scarf. On a preliminary list, I need coloured jeans (which look good on me), a coloured trench or some such cover up, a smart jacket (which will go with everything), some new sandals (God, I could say 3 pair at least, but that's because I've seen at least 3 pairs I'd like), a smart dress for the FHC (First Holy Communion), white jeans (the ones from last year are just not right), a few tops to pull it all together.......I need professional help!
Ollie DS1 has lost one front tooth, and is about to loose the one on either side of the gap. Both are wobbly! He loves apples, and sweet corn. Was hilarious watching him struggle with both items at the weekend. He just had to admit defeat!

blue2711 · 27/03/2012 04:14

Ohhh, so tired!

Sam Edelman leopard flats, the decameron boden broderie anglais top and the anthropologie chambray shirt have all arrived and are all keepers. The boden top is cream not white as it looked online but is lovely. Really pleased with the softness and length of the chambray shirt, perfect for a shortie and so will be able to wear with white shorts.

Did you keep your leopard shorts hopefully? I am wondering if I dare... Can't believe you wore shorts and vest today, very impressive! I am nesh and it has to be at least 75 degrees for me to even take my cardigan off!

Does anyone know of a fantastic place to stay in the Cardiff area? We've just been invited to a wedding there in June; I'm already excited about a little trip away without the DC!

Great to hear you're doing ok, mim. Much admiration from me as I find bf both excruciating and pretty much impossible.

Hello zembo, thanks for the pm, will reply tomorrow.

suburban I bought raspberry blochs in MW sale in January too and absolutely love them, best ballerinas I've had. I also am unsure about chinos, have one TS pair from last year and am going to try to stick at that (unless I am tempted by a great skinny pair in a gorgeous colour).

Hello to everyone else; I am enjoying everyone's news and stories even if not commenting.

blue2711 · 27/03/2012 04:19

My summer list: white skinny jeans, sunglasses, 2 pairs of flat sandals, 1 pair of high black sandals, small bright cross body bag.

I should really shop my wardrobe (as in mine, a la bloss, not the site) for tops, dresses and jackets as I seem to find these far too easy to buy and have loads already.

AmberNectarine · 27/03/2012 07:32

Oh forgot to say, Earharts (formerly owned by red) got first wear of season yesterday. They look a lot better when they actually fit!

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2012 07:43

Are we still doing playsuits? Think this could work on someone really slim and small-waisted.

OllieinOrange · 27/03/2012 08:04

Just caught up on Wendys lastest videos, loved how she did the SS12 trends one. She looks great in her white shirt too.

Blue sounds like you got some nice buys, love the thought of chambray shirt with white shorts.

DS1 appeared in our room at 6.15 clutching his front tooth, which he then promptly lost in our bed! Cant find it anywhere (eeuuuww) Rufus thats funny about your DS giving up with the apple and sweetcorn. A boy at school has 4 missing from his top row, when he smiles, there is just nothing there!

Am dying to tell you all something which a Mum said to me at school yesterday about the things I made on sticks last week (thats me talking in code by the way) but fear I would be found out in RL somehow. I was truely Shock tho.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2012 08:16

ollie I'll just make a guess: Was it along the lines of "Ohh, you must have such a lot of time to make things like that?"

OllieinOrange · 27/03/2012 08:21

Worse than that Fritzi Have PMed you to help get it off my chest!

Fleecy · 27/03/2012 10:03

Ooh fritzi I have a playsuit like that in a black linen-y material. I bought it five years ago, the summer after DD1 was born and was a bit nervous wearing it as it was quite fashion-forward here in rural old Norfolk at the time! I think of it as quite a classic now. Love it. Looks great with tan belt and wedges and messy up-do.

ollie glad the tooth came out but shame you couldn't find it - hope it turns up before you have to go to bed tonight! I hate wobbly teeth too.

amber DD2 has drawn blood once now and for all my intentions to bf until after our holiday in June, I fear if she continues to bite I may not last that long!

fritzi I liked both of your loungers last night but agree with red about the cross-hatch pattern not being the best for bikini wearing.

Speaking of which, I am keeping this bikini and a plain black swimsuit (for taking the DC swimming) from my Asos flash sale order. I also loved these sandals in the turquoise but I think they would get tatty very quickly so I am sadly sending them back.
