Medela swing here - i pumped for 5 days and cup/syringe fed which gave me a chance to heal and started feeding again at 1 wk. Breast shells really help to relieve discomfort but you will look like a fembot! Well done for perservering, lots of love to you both.

OllieinOrange · 24/03/2012 06:53

Nothing like a an excited 5 year old birthday boy to provide an early start to the weekend. Its 7.30am, presents have been opened, birthday breakfast eaten (awful coconut bread which is a vile pink and yellow colour, DS2s choice) DSs are now building from mountains of new lego.

So happy its going to be warm and dry. Makes having a home based party far less stressful knowing they can play in the garden and playground and not wreck the house

MiM so sorry the bf is so painful for you. Hope pumping provides some relief.
Amber ouch, thats a real early start. Hope you can catch a few zzzzs later in the day.

IceCreamCastles · 24/03/2012 07:05

MiM- I borrowed a medela symphony from bf support group last time. Would have thought the hospital would lend you one.

Happy birthday little ollie!

Portia4 · 24/03/2012 07:10

Morning AllSmile

Well done Mim for persevering, another non bfer here, so no advice I'm afraid.

Amber hope that you get some rest.

Another lovely day here, unfortunately I have to work!

FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2012 07:12

Happy birthday ollie junior! Have a great, sunny day Smile

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 07:25

I have amazing non-milk-producing boobs and had some success with the Medala Swing. I have one I'm happy to send, but suspect you'll need one before it will arrive. If it's any use, just let me know though.

Portia4 · 24/03/2012 07:35

Happy birthday Ollie jnr

Decameron · 24/03/2012 07:53

MiM, poor you. Can't wait to find out baby MiM's name!

Ollie, happy birthday to your DS, hope he enjoys the party.

Fleecy, lovely shirt! I'm tempted, already bad for the bag fund. Isabella Oliver have a similar one which is £85 but there are always discounts. But the Ralph Lauren one is nicer .

AmberNectarine · 24/03/2012 07:56

Good news guys, I've found my SS12 sunglasses, I really like the subtle, yet sophisticated, detailing.

Fabulous, Amber!

Portia4 · 24/03/2012 08:13

Amber I hope that you ordered first before you posted that link Wink... you know the MN effect..!

Russianred · 24/03/2012 09:04

Morning (again)! Am in new chambray shirt, leopard jeans and Marni sandals. DH is impressed, surprisingly.

Suburban I am also in the suburbs of the South West, having moved down from London in August. Very much like the oasis dress.

Icey shirt is heavy enough to be a layer over a vest and looks pretty good as such, seems a shame to pass up on the bargain as it is very nice. Would be handy for bf'ing I would have thought.

Hope DS has a lovely day Ollie and that you cope with the chaos (you will, admirably)!

Happy Saturday to all.

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 09:07

Grin Amber

Happy birthday to your DS Ollie, hope the party and the cake pops are fabulous!

the news chez Hopefully is: Woopee, a period! I never never been so pleased to be bloated and uncomfortable Smile

It is such a gorgeous day here today, am trying to work efficiently so I can go and play in the garden with DH and the boys later.

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 09:08

Oh, and apologies for the TMI this week, have been too hormonal to care Blush Grin

AmberNectarine · 24/03/2012 10:01

Ah, Hopefully bit sad you're not with child, we're running out of W&A babies to wait for - only looby left now I think. Appreciate this is a pretty spurious reason to have a baby, mind...

Great outfit red, am currently stylishly attired in strappy nightie. Will be building outfit around new neon sandals today.

Glad you all like my sunnies btw.

This is my last weekend without my DP and the time is dragging

So I`m having a wardrobe organise. Which is just a pile on my bed atm. Do less known brands like APC sell on ebay ? tempted to throw the lot

I did a special order on NAP J.crew natasha Blouse and they reserved me a 2 not a 4 !

hopefully thats a relief, back to doing your ripped exercises ?

bloss I think I have been comfort eating I`m an apple and the weight goes to my tummy/thighs. Is the plan just exercise or eating too ?

Happy Birthday Ollie`s DS glad you have the weather on your side.

Amber best buy a back up pair of sunglasses just in case Wink

MiM I bought a medela from this site they are very helpful.

suburbanstyle · 24/03/2012 13:18

Happy Birthday Ollie Junior. Happy for you it's such a nice day makes everything run much more smoothly.

Slay You have my upmost sympathies, my DP works away a lot and the weekends are the worst. Glad to hear he will be back with you soon.
If I am ebaying a less well known brand I always try to name a mainstream shop that stocks it in either in the title or the description eg APC as found on NetaPorter...

Decameron I have never before and probably will never again make such an effort for St Patricks Day, I was bored of being stuck in the house with poorly DD.

Waves to fellow west countryer Red. Where are your leopard jeans from? I would love a pair of blue ones if anyone has seen any...

Yes icey the denim shirt would be perfect for breastfeeding, the only thing I would say is that I get quite hot in it so perhaps this would be lighter.

Love the sunnies Amber that and a strappy nighty leave you channeling a sort of slutty Elton John.

Trying to make the most of the sunshine before going to a softplay birthday party this afternoon.

AmberNectarine · 24/03/2012 13:29

A slutty Elton John - is there a more aspirational look?

OP posts:
blue2711 · 24/03/2012 13:48

Happy birthday little ollie. Hope you all have fun.

mim my sympathies to you and also admiration at your perseverance. Hope things get better very soon.

suburban I have leopard Current Elliotts which are very nice and these blue ones are on my wishlist but not a very frugal purchase! Will keep a look out for a cheap alternative.

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 14:07

Oh pants, I was just horribly outbid on a really nice winter coat. I should have put in a higher bid - I would have happily spent more, but the high bid was so low (I bid in the last 30 seconds) and then I got sniped literally at the last 1 second!

Amber it's nice to see you get so much from the W&A threads, an aspirational look indeed.

Slay I will be Ripping this evening

But first I will be eating CAKE. I haven't eaten cake all week. This is a big thing for me. I'm hoping that when my PMT bloat has reduced I will be rewarded with a weight loss of about 28lbs (I'd settle for a pound though). Have just sent DH out for butter to make coffee buttercream.

blossoming · 24/03/2012 15:36

slay I'm also an apple (or a spider as I like to call it!). I have been doing 6w6p since January averaging 3 or 4 times a week. It is absolutely brilliant to see quite instant definition, but it's taken me till now as I said to lose the 4 month pregnancy look I was stuck with. I'm also an avid follower of Jillian Michaels, and have just read her Metabolism book, but nothing really works as well as My Fitness Pal app on my phone, boring but true, keep a food journal, and count your calories (which MFP does for you). Down another 2lbs on MiL's vicious scales today.
Have just come back from an amazing mountain bike expedition. Have never been in warm weather before. Fantastic, and MFP gives you 1000Kcals for just under 2 hours work. Well worth it.

Hope the party is going well ollie. Happy birthday to Ollie Junior. Hope the cake pops don't melt!

Sorry to hear your tale of woe mim. Nothing on this earth is worse than the pain of engorgement and cracked bleeding nipples. Just reading your post took me right back to that hell. Big hugs (though that could be painful!)

Slutty Elton John? Love that!

scarf arrived, and is perfect.

On the lookout for a navy blue vest top in a viscose type material so it keeps its colour.
Am wearing the go-to top from last year, the White Co square neck top. Needs replacing.
fritzi, think I might order the bikini.

Hi to everyone else. Don't you just love the first day of spring?

AntPants1 · 24/03/2012 16:17

mim another vote for the Medela swing. Also I really really recommend breast shields. I know lots of midwives hate them but they really got me over the hump with DS. Try Medela medium size shields. The larger boots stock them or you can get them on line. Good luck. X

OllieinOrange · 24/03/2012 17:02

Last party guest left 15 mins ago, am on my third glass of prosecco! Was ok really, Hot Wheels theme worked really well. DH resorted to wearing a whistle to help control things which made me smile. I sufficed with a short and loud (and well practiced) "hey jongens" (boys)

Hopefully I thought how good your make up looked over breakfast last WE. Meant to say there and then and ask if it was HoC stuff?

MiM I struggled with bf DS2 for 3 weeks, had terrible thrush and after seeing how distressed I was, one day DH just went and brought some formula. I remember the relief at someone else telling me it was ok to stop. My advice for what its worth, do whats best for you and not what you think you ought to do.

I LOL at Slutty Elton John!

DH didnt like the silk dress I had on hold, it didnt do me any favours shape wise apparently, but he did love the Maison Scotch cream line blazer trimmed with black I linked to earlier in the week. I tried a boucle style one on which was lovely until I realised it was 250 euros and looked like something from Zara. Will have a look for similar jackets this week I think. My beige ankle boots seemed to have been a catalyst for me trying a new look, am just so pleased I brought them.
