new thread!

OP posts:
OllieinOrange · 24/03/2012 17:05

Just read my post back which doesnt read as well as it did in my head - im not suggesting MiM should give up trying to bf, but that sometimes it just doesnt work out the way you want it too so its best to be open minded about options. Does that make sense?

Russianred · 24/03/2012 18:00

Makes perfect sense Ollie, glad the party went well. We were at a soft play party this afternoon (not the same one as Suburban I don't think) which went very well. Lovely to see DD getting in the throng of everything as she gets more independent.

Suburban my leopard print jeans are from Warehouse - I have a tan pair, but they stocked a blue/grey pair as well. They're a lovely fit - mid-rise and a soft fabric.

Hope the weekend passes quickly now Slay.

We are off to our friends tonight for a BBQ and booze-up, although I am the designated driver, so not so much boozing-up on my part. Thoroughly exhausted - we ripped our cupboards out last night and the chaos that has ensued (clothes in boxes, DH trying to half my wardrobe as I can't possibly need is many clothes etc etc, random stuff we hid in the cupboards needing dealing with) has been arduous to say the least. Will be very pleased when this week is over and all the rooms are decorated, carpeted and have decent storage.

Russianred · 24/03/2012 18:02

Leopard jeans here.

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 19:49

Aw, thanks Ollie. It was mostly HoC stuff, but Clarins foundation (I can't bring myself to abandon the perfect foundation which took me so many bloody years to find!). Glad the party went well! Bummer about the dress, but good about the jacket.

Bloss glad the scarf is good after all of that drama!

Have worked really hard today, am going to relax in the bath with a face mask like a proper girl now. Hope I wake up to some sales tomorrow to reward me for my work, then I can finally buy some weather-appropriate clothes!

Mominatrix · 24/03/2012 19:52

Hello everyone!. Hope your weather was as beautiful as the one I experienced today. I was sipping a glass of cold Sauv blanc in the sun, barefoot, watching DSs play in the sand this afternoon and thought life could not get better. I took the excuse of warmer weather to pull out the floral Zara shorts I purchased a couple weeks ago and just felt positively like summer was just around the corner.

Ollie: Happy birthday to your son. Party sounds like a complete success, and positively exhausting. New looks are great - we all need a change, and clothes are such an easy way to do so.

Red: leopard jeans sound amazing. I am kicking myself for giving up a pair of skinny lizard print ones 5 years ago (I had purchased them 5 years before that and thought a) they'd never come back and b) I'd never find my pre-preg body - how wrong I was!). Am very impressed with your redecoration effort - glass or 2 or more of wine have been truly earned.

Slay: I've been comfort eating too - I know that it is completely hormonal and I am pre-menstrual. It's terrible because it happens every cycle, and I just give in, only to have to pay for it for the rest of the month. My problem is that I enjoy cooking and so I have a freezer stocked with various ice-creams, and I am always baking. I need to acquire self-discipline!

Amber: Love the sunnies. very fun and fashionable.

MiM: sympathies. Starting breastfeeding is pants, and I remember screaming in agony when DS2 attempted to latch on. I used a Medela pump too, and loads of calendula cream. They helped me through the rough bits.

breton: been having loads of problems with Ocado too. Wonder what's up? Hope you stylishly enjoyed your brunch.

Hopefully: stress has a way of throwing our hormones off-kilter. Perhaps what is what is going on.

Reine: cake sounds amazing! Hope the party went well.

Verity: Very frustrating regarding your son - especially when you have an indication of how right he is. Does he have a statement and an IEP? Meeting with the teacher and head is a start, but you want to make sure that you don't have to go through this every year.

Have a good evening everyone!

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 19:57

Thank you for the kind thoughts Red and surburban ( super clever of your idea re APC thanks).

bloss I`m scared of spiders Grin but, I would love to get my tummy back to pre birth state. I hope a beginner could tackle it.

Ollie great theme I would love to see some pictures a job well done.

hopefully Why did you have to mention my favourite cake ?????

Should we stock pile Amber`s sunglasses for Dublin then we all can work the Slutty Elton John Vibe ?

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 19:59

Sorry cross post Momin glad you can relate it`s a mixture of being sad and missing DP.

FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2012 20:05

What a glorious day today! Spent all day in the garden , have blisters on my hand but a healthy glow too. While I was digging out weeds I thought how amazing and wonderful it was to have met you all just a week ago, mwah!

ollie Glad to hear that birthday for DS was a success! Formula was my life-saver with DD too. What a relief...

verity Hope your meeting with DS's teachers will be constructive.

bloss Went on our bikes today too but I very much doubt that I burnt any calories in the process as we stopped for early dinner with DD on our way home and I had white wine Smile.

blossoming · 24/03/2012 20:15

Love your wine drinking fritzi!
Meant to link this gorgeous photo of nicole richie looking so lovely compared to what she looked like in a previous beach photo. Sigh.

blossoming · 24/03/2012 20:16

New posters will come round to my obsession fascination with beach bodies I'm sure!

ReineDeSaba · 24/03/2012 20:17

surburban love the slutty Elton John comment..

Am completely beat post DD2's party but had a brilliant time, think poor DH has crashed out putting her to bed.

have put cake pic on profile for all Abney and Teal fans.DH printed up a Neep t-shirt for DD2 which was fab.

sorry have realised can't make 23rd June possible MU date.

looking forward to lazy day enjoying more sunshine tomorow.

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 20:21

Can I see you profile pics please Reine for the love of toby dog and Bop ?

ReineDeSaba · 24/03/2012 20:37

slaymill have added you..but have to admit no toby dog..he gives me the heebie jeebies, sorry!

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 20:49

I`m more a Poc Poc fan really, ( my youngest says goodnight to them all every night!). I do wish however toby dog would learn another piece of music..

great picture bloss dont like the bikini though. I have found someones body I can aspire to here

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 20:52

Its brilliant Reine love the porridge bowl !

suburbanstyle · 24/03/2012 21:09

Thanks, blue and red both look amazing, am heading into town tomorrow so might see if I can try on. Sadly no leopard print to be seen at the party though.

Nicole Ritchie looks amazing bloss, so reassuring to know that being older and fatter, doesn't necessarily mean looking worse.

Amber I loved your M&S thread, they are doing themselves such a disservice. Good website styling has lured me into so many purchases on other sites.

Cake sounds delicious hopefully I have such a sweet tooth if I am ever cutting calories, cake is always the last thing to go.

Glad the party went well, Ollie. I am gearing up to host one for DD next month so will be looking to you and Reine for tips.

IceCreamCastles · 24/03/2012 21:31

Oh I love it reine. You are very talented! I'm going to do an abney and teal birthday card for dd to send to cbeebies. It made my her day last year when my pontipine one got shown.

Thank you for the link to the other shirt suburban. Not sure about the pockets though.

Hope you're ok MiM. You do really need to be kind to yourself after having such a rough pg and birth.

blossoming · 24/03/2012 21:35

Great cakes reine
Who is she slay?
Great thread amber

Slaymill · 24/03/2012 21:57

Click on the here link bloss in my last post or ripped

Hopefully · 24/03/2012 22:08

Reine that cake is just fabulous! You are so talented. I want one Grin

Mom I suspect you're right - combination of too much stress and being really run down probably screwed hormones up a bit, hope it all goes back to normal next month - not sure I (or my family) can take 3 weeks of PMT on a regular basis!

Really want some aviator sunglasses. Are they hopelessly passé and/or going to look awful on my (heart shaped) face, do we think?

I feel really rough - think that my weeks of healthy eating may have left me less able to consume two big slices of fatty, buttercream laden cake than I may have been previously.

V brief one from me. Having a fab time. Great flight- airbus 380 is v new and it shows! Dd got to sit in pilots seat. Off to Raffles tonight in blue maxi and heels!!!

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/03/2012 09:08

Momin - I too am a dreadfully hormonal eater but am finding my hormones are causing more problems as I get older. I really need to look into what supplements to take.

Also agree that ocado is having a blip - several broken things or missing items in last few orders which is most unlike them.

Gorgeous day doing lots of gardening but did so much cutting back that my shoulders are killing me today but still more to do.

Yeay to NY - DD was coughing all last night and when I was up with her I was hoping your DD was ok.

OllieinOrange · 25/03/2012 09:33

Reine Your cake is amazing, ou are so talented. I have to a small confession tho. The longer I live over here, the more out of touch I get with UK things. When I read your post about making an Abney and Teal cake, I didnt know it was a tv show and thought maybe it was a signature cake of a new bakery or chef combo?

NY great you had a good flight. Raffles in a maxi sounds wonderfufl.

suburban my biggest tip about hosting kids parties is to have a bottle of your favourite somehing chilling in the fridge Smile

Lovely sunny day here again, plan to do some gardening and then go on a long bike ride to our favourite pancake restaurant. DS2 has decided he is having a 3 day birthday this year!

pickledsiblings · 25/03/2012 09:44

Ollie, don't worry about being out of touch with UK things, I too have/had no idea about Abney and Teal - I thought Abney was a typo first time I saw it Grin. It just makes me realise that mine are well and truly out of the toddler phase Sad. I miss having a little special someone to sit and chat to over coffee in town.

A very happy birthday to all of the W&A brood, what wonderful cakes and lovely mummies they have.

Have lovely Sundays Smile.
