Not very inspiring- think the tiredness is showing!

OP posts:
Decameron · 13/03/2012 23:08

Red, perhaps it was the same woman I met today.

A twig sounds like a good teether to me, Amber!

One caveat: Matches don't give refunds so you are better off if you experience buyer's remorse.

Decameron · 13/03/2012 23:08

Better off buying from the Matches website, that is.

Mominatrix · 14/03/2012 06:21

Ollie: I love stripes, and I love the cut of the dress, but 3 different kind of stripes make it a bit more challenging.

Fritz: hot stone massage sounds like bliss. You must have been like jelly afterwards.

MiM: hopefully sweep sped things up and baby will be on its way today

Amber: I have the same guilt that you do about going to the MU, but mine are a bit older so more independent. Hopefully you'll be able to make it.

Dauphin: Sorry you had such a rough night 2 nights ago. Hopefully last night was much better and DD is on the mend.

Bloss: I get similar monthly dips, and excecise seems to make things worse (probably highlighting the fact that my nutrition isn's ideal). Things have gotten better since I started the liver twice a month and I've increased my carbs. Figured out that increasing my miles ran a week necessitated me increasing the amount of fuel (carbs) my body needed - it was as duh moment for me.

Decameron: That woman was very ignorant. Both my sons had strawberry hemangiomas, and both disappeared by the time they were 3 years old. Prior to then, they did get quite a few comments, but I just ignored as most were simply ignorance.

Looking forward to Saturday - what are people wearing?

blossoming · 14/03/2012 06:57

Tried and tested feelgood clothes momin?

red, I was pleased to hear your DS keeping you on your toes style wise!

FritziGreenEyes · 14/03/2012 07:16

How can there be people who comment on strawberry birthmarks? We know many children who have them. In fact, DD complained when she was younger that she didn't have one and used to draw one on her neck where her best friend has a birthmark Smile.

I find it unbelievable at times how rude people can be.

bloss Glad you are feeling better.

dauphin How are your DD and dad this morning?

amber DD was always the most grubby looking baby/toddler at the playground. Stuffed sand into her mouth, chewed on twigs you name it. I never read so many books and magazines than I did during the playground years. Of course I got "the looks" from other people there but so far DD has been phenomenally healthy

blossoming · 14/03/2012 07:33

I am astounded and seething on your behalf decam. I had one on my cheek. By the time I realised I had one it had gone. DS asks what it was in photos of me as a tot though.

Portia4 · 14/03/2012 07:36

Decam DD1 was born with a strawberry birthmark as was I, my was gone by the time I started school at 3, as was Dd1s.

Bloss Hope that you have a better day today.

Apuski the top with the sleeves, does it have a peplum?

Bonsoir · 14/03/2012 07:46

RussianRed - Glanshirt is an Italian brand, part of the Incotex stable. Don't know if that helps!

AntPants1 · 14/03/2012 07:47

decameron DD had a strawberry birthmark. It had disappeared by the time she was 2. They are quite common I think and mainly harmless. Glad to hear you gave rude lady a paddington bear stare!

Hopefully · 14/03/2012 07:53

Morning!

Dauphin hope you had a better night last night.

Am going to an informal business meeting today and am panicking about what to wear, have no non-casual clothes! Will have to root through wardrobe.

OllieinOrange · 14/03/2012 07:54

Decam love the image of Red twatting rude lady. What a pointless comment - as was twig lady's Amber*! Think I have already mentioned the time when DS was a few days old and very orange with jaundice that a woman at Borough Market stopped me and said I shouldn't have let a small baby get so much sun on his face! Shock I said its jaundice (and then started to cry) but DH stepped forward and gave her the mother of all Paddington hard stares whilst whisking me away.

Red I quite like that white shirt. I just look like a man in them so need something more fitted.

Speaking of shirts, I tried this pale blue check shirt on from Maison Scotch on without the silly sleeve bow things here. Was very nice but like I say, manly on me!

MU outfit - navy Janice, opaques, shoe boots

blossoming · 14/03/2012 08:22

Well done ollie!
Someone give me a kick out the door please...

FritziGreenEyes · 14/03/2012 08:26

I just remembered that I had a very bad dream about MU outfit last night: I wore flowery PJ trousers (à la Stella McC) plus Marniesque bold print top. All tied together in the middle with a scarf as belt. Oh and shoes so high I couldn't walk in. Think I have to face reality and sort out my outfit NOW.

I also remarked to DH this morning that the weather forecast for next weekend in London was rain and therefore I might not be able to wear white jeans during the day. DH: "You are planning what to wear during the day?" We have been married for 12 years and yet he doesn't have no idea who I am. Grin Thinks I just reach into my wardrobe in the morning and pull something on. Bless him!

Bonsoir · 14/03/2012 08:32

LOL Fritzi, you really made me laugh there. My DP once said something to me to the effect that I didn't put any thought into the meals I prepare for the family. Men have no clue about the extent of female creative energy channelled into lifestyle.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/03/2012 08:50

Bargain hunters alert: Pop-up sale at The Outnet!

MarshaBrady · 14/03/2012 08:56

Fritzi your dream outfit sounds very directional Grin

I have skimmed quickly as am out, but do Matches really not do refunds? Shock

MarshaBrady · 14/03/2012 09:03

Decam what a silly woman and rude.

Dauphin how is your dd and dad?

notyummy · 14/03/2012 09:08

Joining in the chorus of disbelief about the rude lady Decameron. Awful.

Hope you are feeling ok today after the sweep MIM - or better still are occupied with something other than S and B!!

Weighed myself this morning and appear to have put on a kilo (this isn't a temporary blip, as I had weighed myself last week and thought it could be a monthly thing.) Not much in the big scheme of things I know, but wanted to be at fighting weight for MU! Not about to start crash dieting, but will be good over the next few days and see if I can lose at least loose a pound. Working at home today so a long run should help.

Have been turning our minds to the logistics of travelling to the Olympics and have discovered that the day we are going is one of the 3 or 4 that the organisers reckon will be the busiest of all at Kings Cross St Pancreas. Hmm. Was trying to persuade DH to book a hotel but he still thinks we should just get up really early and go. It's going to be a loooonnnggg day, but hopefully worth it. And literally once in a lifetime, as we didn't get any of the para olympics tickets that we bid for.

OP posts:
MidnightinMoscow · 14/03/2012 09:09

Good Morning.

How rude Decam, why on earth do some people feel it's acceptable to behave in such a way?..Honestly. I am annoyed for you.

Your poor Dad Dauphin, Noro is awful and really takes it out of people.

I am wearing stripy Janice (as a top natch Wink) as tribute to the thread.

Icey hope you are doing ok.

Decameron · 14/03/2012 09:35

The woman was ignorant, you're right Mominatrix, but I'm surprised she hadn't seen one before. DD2 was smiling and giggling at her too. I've a photo of her in my profile. She's the happiest little thing and gorgeous like all babies.

Fritzi, very funny!

That's what my friend said, Marsha, yes. They will exchange though and refund if you buy online. I've only ever bought online from them. And usually I return so can't keep the pretty boxes.

How are you doing, MiM?

Really hate my Phil and Teds and feel sorry for poor DD2 stuck in the back so trying to persuade DH we need to sell it. The funds will have to go towards a new pushchair and not a handbag though. Wink

Off to browse the Outnet sale.

loobylu3 · 14/03/2012 09:37

Wow decameron-how unbelievably rude! I think you were v retrained.
My DD2 has a little one on her chest too- at least 50% gone now (she's just 3). All of my DC have also had lots of Mongolian blue spots on their back/ bottom area (more common in Asian children). I got a bit of a shock when I stripped DD1 off for the first time and saw that she was covered in blue! Now it has become the trademark for my DC. :) It has faded with age and the older two have next to nothing left.
I have also had concerned nursery staff pointing out their bruises to me (in a nice way though so different to your experience)!
Thanks for asking how I am, btw. I am okay but rather exhausted at the moment. DH has had a bad spate of work and I have therefore had the DC by myself for about 4/5 weekends in a row. I can cope with one or two but such a long stretch with no respite always exhausts me. It wasn't helped by having to drive all the way to London last weekend with 3 DC and no navigation! He has agreed to take them to tennis this Sat so hoping for a couple of hours of pottering around then.

icey- gorgeous name!

MIM- I see that you are still with us. :)
Great that you have a plan and a little bit of time. Try to rest as much as possible and eat lots.
By the way, I wear the stripy Janice still too- good stretchy material!

apuski- shame about the Marni. You are v slender and I can imagine that more fitted things would probably work best.

dauphin- how are the family now? Recovering, I hope.

bloss- your DH sounds v sensible. You have a demanding job and do lots of physical exercise. You can't expect to keep going on empty- the body needs fuel. Congratulations on losing all the weight you aimed to though!

monimatrix- are you a medic too?

AmberNectarine · 14/03/2012 09:42

Oh, Decameron she is gorgeous, a real little ray of sunshine. I think some people are just offended by the joy of new life. I was in Starbucks with DD yesterday, reading Grazia while she babbled and attempted to snatch it, happy as Larry. A woman huffed and puffed and eventually moved because she couldn't work with all the noise. Um, how about trying your office or home, love? These types of folk tend to get short shrift from me, I'm afraid.

AmberNectarine · 14/03/2012 09:44

So, MiM pineapple for lunch, curry for dinner? Hope that littl'un gets moving!

Dauphin · 14/03/2012 09:49

Morning everyone.

Better night here thanks. DD slightly more cheerful but says her ear 'hurts quite a bit still' (she's 2!), well almost 2 and a half. Dad has had a better night too thanks, think he is slowly getting better. All was a bit of a nightmare because he has so many drugs to take nowadays after the heart problems that its not straightforward...anyhow!

Decam- what a thoughtless and ignorant woman. My DD had a large strawberry birthmark on her tummy, which has totally disappeared. It's lucky, we always say. Anyway, your little ones are gorgeous. Silly bint of a woman.

I love the Gracie too.

Have meeting with Architect today. Final plans going in, so fingers crossed...

Am going through summer clothes and having a proper focus on what I actually want/need to fill gaps...can you tell I am housebound at the moment? I've saved money this month in anticipation of a sensible (!) spend on spring/summer wear. But I only want to buy things I love. Not make costly mistakes.

notyummy · 14/03/2012 09:51

Hi Looby - hope you are ok. All sounds rather exhausting, so a rest at the weekend def sounds in order.

Ladies, I have just placed a rather large order at ASOS as I felt in the need of glamorous tops. I had promised myself that I was doing no shopping before the holiday..... Some of it will definitely be going back though. Have ordered:

This stripey one.

This one for everyday - not glam, but useful.

This one - sparkly.

This stripey one.

And this one that I think I am regretting already - I quite liked the unusual print, but that price for polyester - which I didn't notice until afterwards - is just bloody cheeky.
