these

Or am I having another a terrible lapse in judgement?

BelleEnd · 07/03/2012 09:41

I am neither young nor old enough to look right in them. :)

BroomForMyChin · 07/03/2012 09:42

I'm 25. Am I getting too old to be wearing pulling off things like this?

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 07/03/2012 09:43

Naaaaah. The colour would put me off a bit, though, but that's because I am crap at cleaning shoes.

dingdong3 · 07/03/2012 09:44

I saw two 14 yo wearing something similar yesterday - I just know that I couldn't pull it off but I don't think it's an age thing...it's about having the right rest of the outfit to wear with it and also about having the right feet for brogues. I would avoid if you have proportionally large feet.

HamblesHandbag · 07/03/2012 09:46

See, I wondered what Belle meant by the young/old comment, but having looked at them I understand completely.

For what it's worth, I think they're minging Smile but I can picture a couple of my more stylish mates looking v cool in them. I would look like your gran.

BroomForMyChin · 07/03/2012 09:58

I think it's another one of those things I buy wanting to be more stylish, but I always wear them wrong and end up looking worse than I did before.

OP posts:
thaliablogs · 07/03/2012 10:09

Definitely not. Bad colour and not either traditional enough (dark brown polished leather) nor funky enough to be stylish.

porcamiseria · 07/03/2012 10:27

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

hazchem · 07/03/2012 11:59

Step away from them. In fact I'd go so far as to say step away from Clarks
what about these
or two tone

tunaday · 07/03/2012 12:17

Think theyd poss be ok in a darker leather. Or something bit radical like yellow, blue etc. But these are pensioner beige and I could imagine the 96 year old I care for going for them. You would really need a very on trend outfit to carry these off. Maybe bright skinny jeans, baggy top, scarf etc.

cazza40 · 07/03/2012 12:21

My gran used to wear shoes like that

alwaysrunninginheels · 07/03/2012 14:09

Another no vote!!! Sorry!

drywhiteplease · 07/03/2012 14:33

Yuck! Even on Alexa Cheung they would still look horrid. Sorry.

M1ssBerta · 07/03/2012 14:41

I think I know what you mean, Broom. When I first clicked I reeled in horror, now I'm sort of thinking, hmmmmm, wide leg troos with a small turn up, could look quite nice. Not that old lady brown colour though and the laces look cheap.

BluebirdsFly · 07/03/2012 14:42

Hideous. I hate brogues full stop, but if you are going down that road, don't go to Clarks!

DoUntoOtters · 07/03/2012 14:46

New Look have got loads, like these. Don't waste your money if you're not sure.

effingwotsits · 07/03/2012 14:48

I wear some similar ones from next and I'm 34. No age limits in my wardrobe Grin

M1ssBerta · 07/03/2012 14:52

I quite like those new look ones, cute!

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 07/03/2012 15:39

I think they're awful, sorry - they remind me of the sort of thing a nasty 1980s salesman would wear. I don't mind brogues or Clarks in general though, how about these?

mintymellons · 07/03/2012 15:48

I think they're trying to be something that they're not, sorry. There are much more stylish versions around which, at 25, you could certainly pull off. God, I'm 37 and would def wear a trendier version of those.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 07/03/2012 15:50

No, no and thrice no.

Sorry.

Eliza22 · 07/03/2012 15:54

They look like those orthopaedic insert shoes that my nan used to wear, with breathable matting stuff on the instep.

If you're approaching your 80's, you might just carry it off.

BroomForMyChin · 07/03/2012 16:30

A definite no then Grin

From now on I may run all by purchases by you lot first. Clearly I can't be trusted.

OP posts:
DinahMoHum · 07/03/2012 16:32

hideous

valiumredhead · 07/03/2012 16:55

Ewww no and I was expecting to come on and agree as I don't mind Clarks shoes! Grin
