So I am curvy with a big bust and big bottom and a comparitively little waist I'm somewhere between a 12/14, jeans has always given me a bit of a muffin top but now I have a little post baby belly I've started to loath them. I'm always having to hoik them up as they slip down, I never feel comfortable in them so I QUIT!!! I want to wear dresses, nice comfy day dresses that accentuate my curvy-ness in a good way, so anyone got any suggestions for a jeans free life?

Oh no, Ben10 - I was admiring all the Joy dresses earlier but didn't buy any, I promise! Maybe it will come back in stock like the Matalan dresses did?

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 13/03/2012 11:23

I've emailed them to see if it is coming back into stock but I can't really afford it anyway Blush. Just been signed off work again and have more surgery in 2 weeks so I don't really need it yet.

MadameChinLegs · 13/03/2012 11:28

I didnt. I may have considered it if money was no object, but I am not a suspect.

I bought number 3 already! I have found a few on Next as well. Am staying away for now although my credit limit with them appears to be £2000 Shock

IHeartKingThistle · 13/03/2012 18:02

Ben10 love the skirt on that one but I think the neckline is a bit weird, well it would be on me anyway!

ErnesttheBavarian · 13/03/2012 19:29

that h&m dress is described as knee length but then the picture shows the model mid thigh?

Aperolspritzer · 13/03/2012 21:34

great post!!

you are all making me Envy

can I ask what you think of this (for office)

silk dress

TwllBach · 13/03/2012 21:46

Ernest I have the red dress, it was delivered today. I haven't opens fit though because I am convinced myself I'm sending it back to save money

I also bought three of the £1.99 dresses from h and m today Grin as I did it, I thought, "I bet this is because of MN!" and wanted to come and tell you all, but my boss came back Angry

mirpuppet · 13/03/2012 21:56

Aperolspritzer I think the silk dress is tricky because of the print it is a bit too random to me for example on the one on the website I wouldn't like where the blue patches fell on my body -- might not be highlighting my best features.

But it might. Is there anyplace you could try it on? Or if they have free shipping & returns I would chance it.

TwllBach · 13/03/2012 22:03

Ok, so I tried the dress on and it will be going back. The shade of red is just a little bit Minnie mouse for me, IYSWIM, and the pleaty bits on the waistline make me look a lot bigger than I am. It doesn't feel cheap though, it's lined in shiney stuff and falls quite nicely though.

drywhiteplease · 13/03/2012 22:46

aperolspritzer I really like it.i think it could be v versatile.v tempted myself!

cabbageandbeans · 13/03/2012 23:06

Twll is this red dress the red one from H&M? I have several of them in my online shopping basket but just can't seem to commit! Did they come up on size? I am a 12 (possibly slightly over weight at mo so pushing to a 14 but I always find flared dresses forgiving on size....) hesitating between 10-12 (I would never expect to fit into a 10!) or the 14-16!

tyaca · 13/03/2012 23:57

cabbages i think think the red dress in question might be the matalan one

TwllBach · 14/03/2012 07:07

Sorry cabbage it's the matalan one.

On reflection, I think the waist part is a bit high on me too and I'm 5'7/8"" if that's any help. It did make me look very frumpy and a little bit try hard, if that makes sense. However, it I had the attitude and confidence to pull off a cute ironic sort of thing, then I might feel better about it Grin

ErnesttheBavarian · 14/03/2012 10:49

ok. I placed 3 orders.

  1. M&S
  2. Matalan
  3. Next

(will have to leave this thread - cost me a bloody fortune)

  1. M& S arrived today. ordered 3 dresses. 2 wrap dresses, really like them, v. comfortable, flattering def. keepers. the 3rd one looks like a sack on me, I think a belt would help. I'm not so good at accessorising. It#s difficult &/or expensive to send stuff back sooo......

am gutted TwllBach not like red dress cos that's what I ordered from Matalan. I'm quite a bit shorter, so we'll see if that makes a difference - what was it like length wise - on/above/below knee?

never ordering anything again so don't mention it if you see a fab dress dirt cheap pls :)

Aperolspritzer · 14/03/2012 11:09

i'm always tempted by silk although it's not so practical.

I also love this one but would need a 16 which is out of stock

fit and flare for the office

jumpinghoops · 14/03/2012 11:51

Ladies- nice dresses! Can I jump on here and ask for some sizing advice with H&M as they size things on their website differently to in their stores. Anyone that has ordered the dress and has it- is the 10-12 equivalent to their S or M??

Although I am a 10, I take a size M in H&M usually. I am thinking from website the sizing may equate to 6-8(XS), 10-12(S), 14-16 (M), 18-20 (L) etc.

Can anyone help? Thank you!
