So I am curvy with a big bust and big bottom and a comparitively little waist I'm somewhere between a 12/14, jeans has always given me a bit of a muffin top but now I have a little post baby belly I've started to loath them. I'm always having to hoik them up as they slip down, I never feel comfortable in them so I QUIT!!! I want to wear dresses, nice comfy day dresses that accentuate my curvy-ness in a good way, so anyone got any suggestions for a jeans free life?

Would a wrap dress count as v neck a line? Loads of those about.

MadameChinLegs · 08/03/2012 22:06

What colours were you looking for, issimma?

this?

cabbage yes I really think anyone could pull off that topshop dress. The seamed waist is barely noticeable IYSWIM, its tight around your boobage area, then the seam is a bit below the bust then it flows out and over any wobbly bits...

If you're shorter, there's a petite one I think. Go to the topshop website and search 'Flippy dress'. It's just so understated, it's not the sort of dress you'll draw loads of attention in but its pretty in a casual way. It's good quality for the money as the material is a decent weight.

I have mass ordered dresses from Matalan and they have all been returned. Sad

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality but the fit wasn't right for someone of my height - I'm 5ft 8in. The dresses were short but I could live with that - but also the waist was too high, which looked odd and felt uncomfortable. It seemed to me that if I'd been a few inches shorter the dresses would have been a real hit.

Big shipment of dresses arriving from Oasis today....

IHeartKingThistle · 09/03/2012 09:25

I would agree on the length of my Matalan one - I'm 5 9 and the midi dress is bang on the knee. But I can live with that and in some ways it's an easier length to pull off! The waist is fine luckily.

Let us know how the Oasis ones turn out!

Silverthorns · 09/03/2012 09:52

I'm currently awaiting my DP shipment... DH vetoed my v-neck belted cardigan that Dressipi said I should wear, said it made me look like "Aunty Silverthorns." I am recently an Aunty but that is not the point, I don't think.

Silverthorns · 09/03/2012 10:02

Have also just ordered this waist cincher which is bargainous - came in at £19 inc postage, which is significantly less than anywhere else. Tried it on and it's fab.

size 12/14 with no norks 32 b/c here. I have just succumbed to 3 dresses blue, jade and another blue.

Aline is the right shape for me so I'll see if I don't have to return them all. I'm currently dieting down from 14 to 12 so hopefully they'll be ok and not be halfway up my leg (I have 33" inside leg)

THanks for the links and code. :)

just back from shopping. I am currently wearing the black Top Shop dress andI love it. I also bought the rose one too! I also bought a black cardi and ballet pumps so along with my Boden leggings, skinni belt and coloured neck scarf. I am looking good if I may say so myself AND dead comfy!

Silverthorns · 09/03/2012 16:27

Lots of lovely dresses came from DP - need to try them one. Have only tried this one on so for with my new belt and I love it. Much comfier and definitely more flattering...

mythical · 09/03/2012 17:25

Marking my spot and will join you after baby! currently 33 weeks pregnant and living in fleecy PJs...

toddlerama · 09/03/2012 17:57

Oooh mythical me too! Having my 3rd c/s in 6 weeks time and I couldn't face jeans 2 years after the last one! I lurve dresses and I always feel so much better in them but for some reason want to punish myself by trying to find jeans which will accomodate 'the shelf'. No more! The only jeans I find comfy are maternity and I hope against hope that they will be too big. Grin

kaumana · 09/03/2012 18:29

Silver- I really like that dress too. Agh! So many dresses to choose from..

Popped into Joy for the first time today as I was inspired by Sherlocks dresses and I fell in love with about 6 of them.

SherlockKnomes · 09/03/2012 22:09

Joy is brilliant, wore my dress and cardi today and felt fab - walked past an elderly couple and the old woman hit her husband with her handbag and said "Put your eyes back in Roger!!" Grin

this wrap dress arrived for me today and is great - a little unforgiving around the tum department, giant pants may be required but great around the norks and awesome for feeding. I ordered the red though and it is VERY red, unless i have my make up on right I look like the Special K lady's ghost. Other people need to post pics of their dress fabulousness on their profiles please!! i have, by the way, dubbed you lot as my dresslings.

DP seems to be the best for dresses for me so far. Will also be sending back matalan dresses - the waist bit is too low down for me. Tempted to order some fatface ones but they often run big and can't be bothered returning even mooooore clothes now.

MadameChinLegs · 09/03/2012 22:54

I shall post photos as soon as my Dotty P ones arrive. Was telling my DMum today and as she is the same size, I ave to take them to her before returning them incase she wants any of them. Should just introduce her to MN, really.

MadameChinLegs · 09/03/2012 22:54

Thanks for the tip re:FatFace. Was going to order a size up as usually need extra room for my bingo wings, but may just order on size now.

MadameChinLegs · 09/03/2012 22:56

Anyone been into Primarni to see what they have?
